Speaking of not finding that one person for you in your home town. My partner of ten years and I went to the same elementary school, same high school, but didn't meet until we went to the same college. Crazy, right? We even had some of he same friends growing up, but never met. Good luck to your friend - you guys should move out here to CA where it's okay to be queer. :-)
