Saw it at SXSW film festival last week. It's not quite as satirical as I was expecting, especially in comparison to Brass Eye, but even so.... it's REALLY bloody funny. I'd definitely recommend it to any fans of Morris's previous work, and I'll definitely be seeing it again myself when it gets a proper theatrical release.
I love the quality of this comedy. The lyrics work, he impersonates Cocker brilliantly and in the interview parts, he's wearing clothes that make him look different to his stage persona - which I think was a trend in the 90s.
"Every time I see your picture, Myra/I have to phone my latest girlfriend up and fire her/And find a prostitute who looks like you and hire her/Oh, me oh Myra"
Pulp had a single off one of their albums called 'Lipgloss' that featured the band members holding up cards that said things like "I play guitar" or "I sing"
He played the boss, Denholm Renholm in the first series of 'the IT Crowd' and he also writes the comedy show 'Nathan Barley' with Charlie Brooker, a second series of which should be coming out soon.
Well, it seems to me just about everybody has different taste in things like comedy tv so it's hard to say exactly what is good and what isn't. Personally I liked the IT Crowd - it may not have been the best or most original show around but it was good fun I thought some parts were really funny.
I just don't find him very funny. I feel roughly the same way about the likes of Jack Dee or Simon Pegg - I know other people like them, I just don't.
do you mean more to make russell leave? because pulp didn't break up and russell left before this was aired...and i also don't think they were too angry about this or anything since there's a clip of it on their dvd...
for the record i love pulp AND i think this is amazing...(ooh just realized how old the original comment was, oh well)

Mmm, not really although I didn't watch it very much so maybe I just didn't give it a fair chance. I don't like Dylan Moran all that much though.
Quiffinairy 4 years ago
Quiff - Is that because he is Irish?
dowling1981 4 years ago
I wouldn't say so.

dowling1981 4 years ago 2
They don't make me laugh or excite me, it's as simple as that really. What do you mean by Catherine Tate-esque type stuff - sketch shows?
