  • Sorry to say this chaps - this is nice, but not a patch on the Louis Armstrong & Velma Middleton one, which this is a fairly blatant copy of! Before anybody gets reactionary, please please PLEASE take the trouble to listen to this. It's not just special, it's amazing.

  • This is the definitive version of this song.

  • Seems to based on the Ray Charles/Betty Carter version (especially Hirt's singing), which was released three years earlier. Ray's vocal is incredible on that.

  • I love Ann Margaret's voice. Watching Elf and had to listen to this.

  • Nice version but...... Holly Cole's version is better.

  • His voice can melt ice, did he sing any more songs. The way he sing this song makes you feel you are the woman being seduced. Love it Love it sexy sexy

  • very sexy

    very sexy

  • thaught id listen to this im watching elf : )

  • This is my FAVORITE version! <3

  • This song NEVER gets old. It's seriously beautiful. ♥

  • sexy

  • You can feel the seduction in the air, most of the other versions seem like they're just rushing through it to get on to the next song. Al Hirt and Ann Margret really sell it! Didn't hurt that she was a real sex kitten when they recorded it!

  • Easily the best version, my gf loves the version from glee, but this one beats it by a long shot in my opinion ^_^

  • Absolutely the best version of this song. :D

  • I agree this is the most seductive version I've heard. I hate winter, but I love playing this song in winter!

  • love it:)

  • wow! love this! and i thought dean martins version was the best! close! but no cigar!

  • DELÍCIA

  • 昔、このLPが欲しくてたまらなかった!~愛しのアン・マーグレットとアル・ハートとの、ラヴリー・デュオ!~愛の狩人の熱演も懐し! #jazzm

  • There is only one other version that rates a solid second place, and that is the 'Glee' (TV) video performance. Kurt manages toembody the innocent feminine side of the performance and pull off the 'closest' rendition of Ann Margret: Look it up on YouTube. Al & Ann are the epitome of the song. My husband is a professional trumpeter and friends with Al. Apparently, Al loved this song, Ann Margret, & her voice!

  • Wow, could there be a more PERFECT rendition of this tune??? You are all correct... Ann Margret has the sex kitten role COMPLETELY wrapped up! And Al Hirt's voice and presence in the room/song are defining! Total masculinity!

  • love it .......

  • lol i've never heard this song sound so dirty. lol

  • In most (or all) of the other versions the women keep singing more fiercely and you can hardly hear the man, because somehow they think that's what makes them sexy. Like hampnkauai said, its like they aren't even talking to each other, just fighting for predominance. The thing I love about this version is that she's being really wooed and gets her innocent sexyness to a whole other level. It's perfect. Such a great job from both of them!

  • Best version ever....Ann Margaret shows why she was such a sex kitten. Al Hirt compliments her so well.

  • The Best All Time Version - Ann-Margret's delivery is unbelievable. A true legend.

  • Hubba hubba! Ann and Al really know how to warm a winter's night!

  • Ann Margret oozes sexuality in pretty much every song she sings!

  • I have heard at least a dozen versions, and this is by far the best.. What is more stunning is that Al , I believe made his first vocal recording on this arrangement from the LP "Beauty and the Beard"

  • Baby its cold outside.... heheh... peace Rick ;~D

  • This is one of the best versions of this song. It sounds so innocent and sensual at the same time, like the song is supposed to be. Ann Margaret and Al Hirt voices blend together so wonderfully. Ann sounds so innocent and sensual while Al sounds like he knows what he is doing and trying his best to woo Ann to stay. This is so fantastic. Ann knows she wants to stay but she is supposed to be a good girl and knows she should not stay. Why what would people think? A time of yesterday's morals.

  • A Christmas hit by one of the famous jazz artist and actresses of all time.

  • this has been my fav song ever! and sooo hard to find! thanks for posting it!!

  • This is the best version, the instrumental sections are lovely and the voice blend right in. truly the best!!!!!

  • My favorite version :D

  • Ann's voice is so seductive. Could have been better to collobrate with Barry White.

  • This is definitely my favorite version - it's the only one I've ever heard that really sounded like the man was really seducing the woman. Most versions don't sound like the people are even talking to one another.

  • @Hampnkauai I totally agree! They make it very intimate.

  • @tangledupincerulean DITTO

This is the hottest version of the coolest song.

    THANKS

  • @Hampnkauai She sounds like a nasty slut!

  • @Hampnkauai For sure. So totally sexy. I love this whole record too.

  • @Hampnkauai

They do. Her voice, especially...it's hot!

  • @Hampnkauai Try the version by Dolly Parton and Rod Stewart. They almost make it too believable. I really do like this one too though.

  • LOVE this version!

  • I love this version of getting cold outside the best version ever

  • @frasba1954 I agree!

  • @frasba1954 me too!

  • nothing better than the classics & this defineitly the best

  • @pudd750 My grandfather... long passed had a few of AL Hirt 33's vinyl's. I have now... several year ago saw that Al's best of / Beauty and the Beard cd on Razor Records was availble,, snatched it up quick...Man what a sexy singing voice she has. And I will say in my opinion Baby it's cold outside is the best version.. bar none ...

  • @pudd750

It was written by famous songsmith Frank Loesser. In 1948, after years of informally performing the song with his wife at various parties, Loesser sold its rights to MGM, which inserted the song into its 1949 motion picture, Neptune's Daughter. The film featured two performances of the song: one by Ricardo Montalbán and Esther Williams and the other by Red Skelton and Betty Garrett. These performances earned Loesser an Academy Award for Best Original Song.

  • i also love the newer version she did with brian setzer orchestra

  • This whole album is just a lot of fun! One of the most entertaining records made!

  • ha! "beauty and the beard"

    freakin amazing!!

  • New Orleans Al Hirt!

  • Definitely the best version.
