If you're in the Gainesville/Ocala area on a Friday/Saturday you must drive down to Cross Creek and visit "The Yearling" restaurant. Willie has some great stories and he's a legendary blues musician.... The food ain't bad either.
at fifty bucks per person, i had rather be in a quiet corner able to talk with my dinner partners----besides, this type music has nothing to do with 1930's-'40s cracker life in cross creek florida--personally, i found that whiny blues irritating.
@redo1948 Good grief you are one "don't know shit" individual. When Willie was with me we opened for everyone from Leon Rusell to Pat Travers. Every audience loved Wille. And to add to your ignorance, you called it "cracker life". Cracker culture existed on the north florida and south georgia east coast, not in Micanopy, FL
I met Willie last night at the Yearling...we had front row seats for this incredibly talented true talent that is the main reason we go to the Yearling....bought both of his cds and he even signed them for us. Wonderful!
I met Willie this past weekend and I am truly inspired by his story and music. He is a delightful man and he is even better with his band....I hope to make a documentary with Mr.Green.
We stopped in for dinner at the Yearling tonight and had a great time listening to Mr. Green. Our 16 year old son even purchased his CD and had Willie autograph it!
This guy is amazing. I have also seen him playing at the Yearling. He will be playing in downtown Gainesville, FL on Friday June 15th 2007. If you are anywhere near Gainesville, FL on a Saturday night, stop by the Yearling to hear him. You cant see it in this video but he looks about 90 years old.
We ate at the Yearling yesterday. We were pretty much the only ones there. Hes a good guy, great player.

Fantastic. My wife and I just ate at the Yearling and I was amazed by Willie. A true bluesman. He is the real thing.

@michaeljamsmith You're mistaken. Cracker culture was not limited to the coastal regions you mention. It stretched inland and much farther south
