@thomase1 Check the tyrewalls for damage just incase :-) I did this on the old Marin with alex rims and as Yang said it can knacker a tyrewall. I was lucky though.
I'm a repeat offender. Cycled for 20 years before buying myself a track pump with a gauge and found out why my tyre walls used to collapse - even took the bike to the shop once !
Then it was a car and I found I'd mis-remembered the correct pressures - cost me a set of tyres too ...
