Jarga is day of god Jarilo , god of spring and god of war. Its celebration when winter ends and summer finaly begins. Its celebrated in 6th may by greogiran calendare. Wedding is only within this celebration and has nothing to do about it.

I hope these people understand that all these rituals had their function and their goal back than. Being pagan doesn't mean being primitive. As time passed, we, European people developed and improved. So must improve the ways in which we see and how we live through these rituals. We must preserve the functions, the goals, the meanings and look on the way, how these rituals were held back than as nice inheritance. Paganism means development, progression and harmony.

Also religion teaches you noble truths and morals and reminds you of whats good and wholesome. Jarga is the name of the group; the celebration shown here is Kupala - Slavic Midsummer holiday, taking place on June 21.-23., sometimes more days (depends on the free time:)). It's the celebration of fertility and love, devoted mostly to the Sun God Svarog and the Earth Goddess, Mokosh. Of course, on these days we also worship Perun (God of thunder) and Veles (God of underworld, afterlife, rebirth and water). Being a holiday of Fire and Water, Kupala is certainly a festival of Svarog and Veles.

All I'm asking for is a bit more self critical reflection on what you are doing. I know it's an ancient symbol. But it has been stained for ever - as much as the Christian cross. Just keep that in mind. You might be following a different path than you realize.
Just to make sure: I love Slavic rural culture. I love pagan heritage. But if we pagans start to be as self-righteous as monotheist fundamentalists usually are, our path is not the slightest bit better than theirs.

A true Pagan can be self righteous to a certain extent, he lives in harmony with nature to the best of his ability and provides his people with his best skill and love, as well as staying loyal till his dying day.I think that I believe in good values, they make perfect sense and shall be considered the best by myself, until someone can prove me wrong. And i honestly can't see that happening, we Pagans are very logical and proud of that.

What's the difference between a Pagan and and Atheoi such as myself?I'm more of a Philosophical Atheoi,I look to human reason as my true "religion" even though, I deny the existence of all Gods or supernatural phenomenae.Yet, gatherings and human celebrations of fertility and the land are Good. I'd rather have my children worship the Sun, the Earth and the Firmament than some made up Monotheistic Monster of a Semitic God. At least the heavenly Bodies and our Mother earth are unquestionably real.

If you don't believe in them you can look to them as symbolism to features of nature, as many slivac people did. It's not an Insult, really. Like all pre-christian pagans, you shouldn't be hurt by somebody else's different views of your beliefs, but rather debate them in a constructive manner. Open debate is the fire of progress and furthering of knowledge.
I have nothing against your practices, I find them enlightening especially as a fan of Historical reconstructions/living history.
The only thing that would make me stand up against a religion is opression, if a religion opresses, then it is my enemy.

I'd like to point out that there were pre-christian romans and they were very definite on the subject of harming people for their different veiws, as were the egyptians and greeks. Look up the fate of Socretes. They wern't very fond of new Gods.... and sure as hell had no open debates on the subject.

Erynnsilver, the Romans were tolerant of other religions, they allowed the worship of Isis, they accepted the attributes of the Greek gods, attaching them to their own Latin deities. Christians were persecuted because they refused to accept any other gods besides Christ (Father and Holy Spirit). Also Socrates was condemned for causing the young to question religion. Remember that the Greeks built an altar to the "Unknown God" when Paul had preached on the Areopagos.

Ha, and to think, the man that almost quelled the Christians and could have kept them from gaining power in Rome, the emperor Diocletian, resigned his seat to live on his little farm and grow, of all things, lettuce and cabbages, only to end up commiting suicide some years later. When asked to come back and take up his seat as emperor, he simply declared; "Ha, none of you would ask me this, if only you'd taste my cabbages!"
So, clearly the man when off his rocker, and all of Europe suffered.
