@THUMPLUMP The great Mr Lord mentions the draw bars (slight variations in sound) in Purple's excellent '02 Machine Head dvd when he's reminising about doing Space Truckin' live back in the day (if my memory serves me).
Hope Ian Gillan will not have any problem with his voice because it is 50% of the success ! Great great man as much as Robert Plant ! (I saw both of them and both of them are incredible). - Sorry for my bad english -
ive got nothing against steve morse, and hes undoubtedly one of the better guitarist around, but his musicman just kills the tone of deep purple, like, deep purple sounds excellent with that over-gained strat blackmore uses.
i've said it before, but i can't say it enough... Steve Morse and Don Airey are more than worthy successors to Ritchie Blackmore and Jon Lord.... and the biggest difference between having Steve on guitar versus Ritchie?
@bassmonkey1962 ... hehehe... that's what you'd think until you actually go to a DP concert and look around at the audience... us old farts are bringing our kids and grandkids along now... and the kids actually LIKE it!
great bands playing great music NEVER goes out of style!
(and let's be honest... justin bieber and lady gaga don't hold a candle to these guys, musically!)
@bassmonkey1962 Errr, I'm 16 and Gillan was my influence to be a singer. I sing 70s and 80s hard rock and metal. Modern music isn't a patch on these guys.
muy bueno

The new synths just are not as good as the old Hammond draw bar organs used back in the day. Still great though.

It's Don Airey on the keys, not Jon Lord. Jon left the band since 2001.

Ian Gillan is great at this video, so is Ian Paice. And screw you all, Morse haters, he rules.

Don Airey played Keyboards on a couple of Ozzy's earlier solo albums.

Jon Lord retired on good terms and amicably from Deep Purple. No bad blood between them unlike with Richie Blackmore

Well, it is Jon Lords old chopped Hammond C3-organ, Don Airey plays, so I guess the music has a certain touch of Jon Lord-sound.
