  • downside of Covens is politics and clicks and then there are the ones that

are i am so pagan then thou.I once did the whole wiccan thing until i got sick of the politics and Then you have to do it this way no you have to do it that way thing

until i was called to Quimbanda and Umbanda

  • Same here, can't find a kindred or coven anywhere. I did find a little shop in St. Augustine FL. Everythings on the Net. several of the Asatru sites want you to join and pay dues before they tell you anything Q__Q And I was a fluffy Kitty... I was too stupid to run and they came with the Nail clippers. ANYWAYS... um... I agree.

  • There are a lot of elitists in the pagan faiths, which is sad. Because none of us are better than anyone else. I'm really bothered by that holier-than-thou attitude as it makes it really hard for newcomers to find a welcoming place.

This is why I work alone in my practice.

  • Also, solitary practice is not unusual in witchcraft. Just read the first part of Raymond Buckland's book "Wicca for One" and he talks about it in there.

  • It took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about; I've never heard the word "coven" pronounced the way you do it. I've always heard it pronounced so that it rhymes with "oven" only with a hard C at the beginning.

Beyond that, some people reach a point in their practice when they have no need to be in a group of any kind, and they also don't feel much of a need to broadcast one's practice too much. It happens with time.

  • I personally think its best to try to find people around you, I have trouble with this, im only 16 and its SO hard to find anyone who is openly pagan and intelligent enough not to mess me up or work with me! I agree with you completely :P just found your vids by the way, love em!

Theres a shop a few miles from where I live, but its deffinately the only one in town. Its hard being us I guess hehe. But I wouldn't change it for the world =]

    xx

  • It depends on where you are in the world, here in denmark we have thousands of us who live openly with our religion

  • Elitists and the ignorant will be found in every path. I know that it can be really annoying and frustrating as you're trying to learn, but it does have some good aspects to it. Taking the time to learn about yourself (as it seems that you're doing) can be much more productive than joining a coven that's already set in their belief pattern. And think about those that know enough to teach, you can almost be sure that they've been swamped with half serious people. It helps to weed them out.

  • Awesome. Everything you said has been what I've been thinking the last few months. I totally agree--I am scared to join a coven! I'm a senior like you and I'm considering finding one where I'm going to college but I'm not sure yet! I know that if I do join one, it'll be a lineaged BTW one. But I'm still exploring my beliefs and maybe I'm just better off being a solitary neopagan. Cheers! --Illiezeulette

  • Good girl i had the burning times forced into my head by a bunch of far right wiccans a long time ago. They were eveil bastards and i am glad that there are many more open and intelligent gentle spiritual people in wicca and or paganism these days. Good fortune and god / goddess bless

  • There's always great factors of retardation to be found anywhere regardless of subgroup. You gotta try and hold of on the expectations of each encounter, be yourself, but don't expose yourself to situations that feels wrong. Stay true to your heart, and you will be just fine.

Exclusiveness is not cool and I stay clear of all that, there are plentiful of decent people out there, you will find them eventually. Good luck to you!

  • You should visit my channel I did a radio show on Paganism and Wicca. You will be Shocked, so to speak.

  • About what? The fact that you have been banned from Youtube 7 times for preaching intolerance against Pagans, homosexuals or anyone who doesn't agree with your views of Christianity?

Shock, honestly, you've been trying to get people to convert to your version of Christianity for ages now.

Maybe you should try answering questions honestly instead of trying to avoid them?

    Like:

If God is a god of love, doesn't that love extend to all, and if so, what need does he have of "hell"?

  • Oh, Shock, is there no limit to your ridiculousness? Pagans who reject your path do not do so out of ignorance of it.

  • I do not hate Jesus Christ, nor do I call all Christians ridiculous. I call YOU ridiculous. You are not the spokesperson for every Christian, despite what you may think.

As for my false Gods, they are just as real to me as Christ is to you. You constantly complain that people have a problem with you preaching from the bible. Not at all! It is your respectfulness that gets people riled up. Me? I just find you amusing. Keep on keeping on.

  • *disrespectfulness, which is claiming to not be an actual word, so lack of respect.

  • Wow, can't handle a discussion with someone who isn't sucking up to you I take it. I am not sure what I said to warrant being blocked, but you are so crazy that I guess I am not really surprised.

  • ehh..........sounds like the words of a foolish Christian.

Don't get my wrong I'm christian as well but were taught to respect all and there ideas on things. you make us look bad...

  • Best of luck graduating!

and yea finding a Coven (or Kindred for my sort) is really hard around here (the south) not really much I can do about it, but thats ok I dont like things solitary anyways, when I get outa college i may pursue it more.

Question/idea for next vid: Parents/friends and your beliefs? Do they know? Do they care? etc...just a random idea.

  • im not saying i need a coven but in a sense i kinda do just because being alone to practice is nothing like being in a group just like the engery there and being able to talk intelligently with some one who understands what im talking about thats what i want not just the magick part i dont really practice that

  • I would like to know what specific questions you have, if that's ok.

I can't say I can answer them, but I am questing myself (I am always questing. It's the only way to grow.) ... and would like to bounce some ideas back and forth.

    Blessings,

    GW

  • you don't really need a coven if you are a real witch

  • Hehe, fluffybunnies. I prefer to use more normal terms. I can't believe someone actually says that! It's cute.

  • i havent just because im so sketchy about meeting people in real life off the net so many scary things have gone down and it freaks me out to be honest

  • have you tried Facebook groups, there are so many on the groups.

  • thank you we do have a unitarian church in my town not sure if it has one of those we do have a pagan pride day though and i think im going to go this year

  • If you have a Unitarian Universalist Church that has a CUPPS group check it out. Blessed Be )O(

  • lol i would prolly be turned down which is the other part that scares me a bit the rejection lol

  • I know what you mean. I'm probably the only Asatruar in a 50 mile radius of my home lol

  • Father asatruar tend not to deal with teenagers unless they are someones family if you find a kindred who likes you will probably have to prove you arent a wiccan kid with a norse theme
