Shouldn't have taken this long. She should really be ashamed of herself. My mom almost died and she didn't even care. Horrible, horrible person. Donovan almost never met his grandmom. Get to family court, you dont need a lawyer. If you are paying, even if you are behind in payments but paying none the less...you can still see your child, just get it court ordered and she has to let you or risk losing the child to you if she keeps denying you visitation. As I said, no lawyer. The courts will actually walk you through this once you are before a judge. You have to show interest on paper, make a paper trail so it looks as if you have tried even if you get denied. There IS hope.

Another thought is that if you stop paying child support, which I think I would do, do you think she would take you to court? That way you force the mother to show up to court where you can then state whats been happening. I've been going through 4 years of intense alienation from the mother on my daughter and it's criminal and child abuse, and the courts are seeing this.
Have you thought about self representing yourself? I know you've stated you don't have rights, but if you were to compile a case based on hardship and the fact the mother seems malicious in denying access, it might make sense to a judge. Especially if you have been paying child support. If you could secure even a weekend a month, your child is approaching an age where he can voice a request to see you more often. My mothers best friend's divorce attorney is excellent, in fact she's the one who won the Danny Lynn case(Anna Nicole Smith's daughter). Now my mom's friend spent somewhere around 1 and 2 hundred thousand in a year for her already. But maybe with her high status amongst attorneys specializing in family law she could refer you to someone she knows. She is here in Peachtree City, GA. MSG me if you would like her contact info. It's worth asking at least.
However regardless of all that. You seem like a loving and caring man and should have a shot at being the father. But in the very least, if you are being denied the right to be this child father and be the one in his life simply because he already knows another. You should not be required to pay child support. He has a father by her argument why should you HAVE to pay. This is not right in any way shape or form.

The Georgia law seems to be a holdover from the days when the husband had all the rights. If he disavowed a child, that child was disavowed no matter what the mother said or did.

I am going through the same thing. It has been over 5 years now. I was married to the mother for 10 years. I have 3 sons from that marriage, her response is God told her to do what she is doing.

I hear too many times, guys paying but getting very little consideration from the law. Time passes while playing their legal game. Too much of a basless opinion that no matter what, if the relationship breaks down, the father is at fault
My ex has alienated me from my 4 kids. I never spanked them, always taught them and loved being with them. Which is why she 'paid me back' like this i suppose. She is a good mother, but still just a 'child' i reckon. The law supports his kind of behaviour.

Many parents lose their kids for ever, Natural reality does this kind of shit to people all the time. 'Child hood' is much shorter than 'adult hood'. She may get that time, but if you invest the effort, you will get the longer time. 2 more years, and he can decide for himself (legally or not).

This is upseting. The Law force you to paid Child Support for a Child, you not allowed contact. Visitation must come with child support payments.

I would sign your petition if I were a US citizen. How can the state take your money for child support and not recognize you as the father?
The Georgia law seems to be a holdover from the days when the husband had all the rights. If he disavowed a child, that child was disavowed no matter what the mother said or did.
Have you tried contacting the ex-husband to see if he will disavow your son?

I feel so sorry for you and your son! My son is being slandered and kept from full access to his daughter by our sociopathic ex-daughter-in-law, while paying child-support that she uses on herself and not our granddaughter. He could but that problem is 2 fold:
a) Lawyers cost money
and
b) He is not sure where the mother lives. He has tried contacting her through every medium that he can (he says so in the petition). If he filed a petition for legitimation, there would be no means to serve her, even if he could afford the attorney.
