@MelonHeadFilmz yes you are correct, mick died april 29,1993 just almost one year later, he was very sick during this concert and ian hunter was the only one who knew and promised his old friend he would remain silent, mick did not want any of the spotlight on him during this concert, god i miss him
Thanks for posting this. I had only seen this when it was originally broadcast but I have always remembered how truly inspired Mick Ronson's playing was. Seeing and hearing it again just gives me the chills.
Mick Ronson died of liver cancer in april 93. Get this months classic rock magazine for a touching article about Mick. Christ he was good and i've never heard a better version of this song, love the battered old telecaster, a real guitarists guitar lol
john deacon is one of the greatest bass players ever. he is like john paul jones in that he never feels the need to dominate the performance and never misses a note.
mick ronson is sick. bowie was best when playing with mick and earl slick, too.
and he looked so good here...he was by far the most underrated guitarest of the "golden age" of R&R...his melodic leads during verse's was amazing...he was like a second singer with guitar..and the emotion...well..genius...
I wouldn't say it was "sanctimonious"! C'mon! Bowie is a fucking genius! I wish I could see that: does anybody have the "performance" right after this video? PLEASE???
Heroes is one of my favorites, here played by three of my favorites similar... Johoo! But I prefer the german version, the lyrics have even more temperature...

Great performance!

I heard Ronson was starting to lose his fight with cancer at the time of this concert and that he had lost a lot of weight. Who can verify this.

whats that thing that hunters got in his right hand?
5me5 4 years ago
That's actually Mick Ronson - Hunter's not in this clip. The thing he's got in his right hand is called an EBow.
adari2006 4 years ago
It's a hand-held sustainer -- like an Ebow.

there was a really weird sanctimonious prayer that Bowie did before this--do you have that on video? it was pretty classic.

It was right after and I found it deeply moving.
