No wonder that David talked always , in the interviews, that his happiest time ,in music creation was the "german period". Amazing the amount of energy and beauty in this song, Awesome!
I woke up with this song in my head today, and this video is the best version of it. Thanks for uploading it. There is no one cooler than Bowie, just look at him. How iconic..just a master legend.
As amazing as this point in music history is, may I respectfully suggest that we all stop looking back nostalgically, and become our own 'Bowies' (and by that I mean the exact opposite of imitating him and his styles). Make your own cutting edge syntheses of what you find significant now & in decades passed. He wasn't concocting something entirely original here; he was synthesizing Harmonia, Roxy Music, Eno, Kraftwerk, early 20th Dada/Futurism/Constructivism, Science Fiction, Romanticism etc
one of the few wordless,a nd freaky songs ive heard. i found LOW in my dad's car when i was 12. its great, but the best is Always crashing in the same car.
Met La Bowie twice ,seend him over 30 timessince Diamond Dogs, so not to fret kids , he left you, well all of us much to listen and learn from...all best to all Youtubers this long, last weekend of the Summer!!
and he remembered everyone's name after we spoke with him outside that restuarant...4 of us...and that brought a tear to our all of our eyes..Wonderful,highly intelligent spaceman.
Kid I've met the La Bowie twice, now I can die....kidding...seen him over 25-30 times since the Diamond Dogs...but, yes, did meet him on the 2 occasions ...wonderful,terribly the 'funny' man, looks into your eyes when you speak to him...and, until you are finshed saying what you are trying to convey to him...absolutely incredible gentelman....also, he remembered every-single-persons name after we introed ourselves...4 of us...how did he do that?
@c8udyp: I watched this tour in Cologne Sporthalle - at the time he was also living in Berlin - when they played "Rebel Rebel" as one of several encores people were standing on chairs shaking their asses......he was in the form of his life ! I think living in Germany for 3 years really changed his life and set new dimensions for his creativity !
@OedepusMusic i've also been very disappointed by bowie. i'm 37 and i've known a relatively bad moment for him. i've seen the second tour of tin machine which was hysterical and nonsense, the outside tour which was beautiful and the reality tour which was boring and embrassing. the lucky ones are in their fifties
Personally i think this period(low, heroes and lodger)were his most inspirational and dark and still sound like they could be released today, amazing man!
saw the same concert at Stafford Bingley Hall England, only 16 years and just joined the army.never forgotten it,it only seems like yesterday, seen him many times since Bowie rules
Yeah, it was great that night. We snuck in a tape recorder, was a lot easier to do back then. I still have the tapes somewhere, but the audio is horrible, no surprise there. They went straight from the ending of "Art Decade" into the train sounds for "Station to Station", my favorite part of the tape. Saw him at Madison Square Garden in 1976 too, was an incredible show.
the most experimental as well, the 70's period was bowie's shinning moments, once he got to the 90's and to today, he's become so plastic it's not even funny.
Super...brings me back to my living room as a teenager, in the heady days of S 2 Station and the like...seen Dave over 30 times, Gods' gift of grace met him twice...super person, funny, intelligent, attentive and always super polite to us...Bowie!
Gemma
and he slapped my arse backstage...I may as well die after that evening in 1976, live in Toronto,Canada.
Thank you, PanPanCucul, for this. Absolutely superb. I have been looking for a good live version of this captured with decent sound, for a while. Ace, all the way.
Low was the first of the "Berlin Trilogy", a series of collaborations with Brian Eno. The experimental, avant-garde style would be further explored on "Heroes" and Lodger, which complete the Berlin Trilogy.

Not Eddie Jobson on violin, but Simon House. Adrian Belew on lead guitar, Roger Powell of Todd Rundgren's Utopia fame on keyboards.

@zeets93 I know he's not dead, but the chances of a new tour/album are very thin.

have a little faith, even though he's 63 Bowie never sits around for too long. The Reality Album / Tour wasn't that long ago.
