WATCH IT! Cumberland Rivers song, "Justified". The band from Harlan, KY, has had several songs featured on the show "Justified", Seasons two and three.
This teaer is misleading. What really happens is they both get in a heated arguement over who shot first, then which star wars movie was better (VI or IV), then it's about which character is the biggest badass, and finall what really happened to Boba Fett.
Well, that last arguement wan't too long. Once the other guy started talking about the expanded universe, Rayland up and shot him.
I like that they just created a brand new scene for the trailer as opposed to using something from the (at the time) upcoming season. This way it takes nothing away from any scenes from the actual show when viewed.
@ime239, I was actually coming back her to say the same thing. Unless I somehow missed it, this isn't in season 2. So I'm assuming they cut this scene for whatever reason (I suppose it does become difficult to believe if he gets away with too many suspicious shootings) or if this was always just a promo and they had no intention of using it.
I had never even heard of this show until one night prior to the start of Season 2 I saw this commercial. Just based on how cool this was I rented the Season 1 DVD's so I could be ready to watch the season premiere. Now I don't miss an episode. It's my favorite show on TV, Raylan Givens don't mess around.
Know what this reminds me of? Family Guy. Right? "No man, Han ALWAYS shoots first." LOL, I love Justified. And Timothy Olyphant. He's like the next Mark Harmon, just a natural badass. How funny would NCIS be with Raylan Givens as head of the team, huh?
This commercial was why I started watching. It was awesome, possibly the best commercial I've ever seen for a TV series. Loved his story about gasoline vapors with the bad guy in the last episode too. I hope they have clever moments like these in every episode.
Timothy Olyphant is like my favorite fucking actor ever he is so awesome badass funny and when wants too he will fuck your day and make it better this guy is awesome!
I think the point everyone is missing is that Raylan, much like the some of the sleazebags he puts away, likes to find loopholes that 'Justify' his actions. But ultimately he upholds the law, and that by definition, makes him a good guy.
Personally, I think the whole show is just excellent: good plot lines, well acted characters, and most importantly, they actually got the accents right. Being from that part of the country, most 'southern accents' you hear on TV make me cringe.
I swear, I've never seen this show, but just seeing this trailer... really makes me want to. For one, the trailer is really clever, and the show looks pretty fantastic xD
Anyone have an idea as to what the song is at the very end? I've heard it on a couple trailers for the new season, and I'm really hoping it's an actual song and not one created just for the promo. Any help?
have you guys seen the other one? where he goes the phrase is die trying.? im actually looking for that one, so if anybody has it up or has seen it, a link would be nice
This is why I love "Justified." Raylan is just a cool character. Plus, it's nice to have a crime drama on TV where the lead cop character is both a good, honest guy and likable.
@P0ko4Sh0 How so? I mean, he's not corrupt, planting drugs on people just so he can bust them and stuff like that. He may not be a saint, but he's definitely one of the good guys. Unlike, say, Vic Mackey on "The Shield," I would actually trust Raylan with my back.
@MikeAM78 He is deceptive and does things the way he wants, without regard to the consequences.
He basically, takes the law into his own hands. Yeah, I'd trust him with my back...he's an asskicker 100%.
But that doesn't make him a good guy. Besides, we know he got kicked out of Florida for some kind of shooting that's being looked into. I personally, think, knowing how Raylan is, he did the guy in on purpose.
@P0ko4Sh0 I guess you could view that kind of stuff as not being a good guy. The Florida shooting was in the very first episode, in case you didn't see it, and he killed a drug dealer after he pulled his gun on him first. The investigation is into whether or not he lured the guy into pulling first. Personally, I see him as a good guy the same way I see, say, Dirty Harry as a good guy: his methods might be a bit unorthodox, but at the end of the day he's on the side of upholding the law.
It's a cool allusion, but I'm not sure I buy that Raylon would have even this low level of Star Wars knowledge. At least he didn't know Greedo's name. And do we really need to force geek lore into every show? The only thing he should know about Star Wars is that it's a movie and that Leia was smoking hot in the bikini because as a kid he was too busy sneaking the smokes and drinking the beers he stole out of his dad's busted up Chevy.
I've only seen star wars once or twice when I was a Kid (don't hold it against me), didn't like them that much, and yet EVEN I knew that Han Shot First.
@jeffhotchkiss Didn't occur to you that, as always, Raylan was underplaying his hand when he refers to 'that green fellow'? Star Wars was a MASSIVE part of cinema history, in terms of it's (entirely unexpected) runaway box office success, it entirely stands to reason that Raylan would have been aware of it, he'd have been the right age to have seen it in '77. Plus, there are a number of Western influences in Star Wars, so again, it's entirely plausible he'd have been interested for that reason.
@jeffhotchkiss Additionally, we already know that popular culture isn't alien to Raylan, he used to watch Rawhide and Have Gun Will Travel, he said so himself. Furthermore, if there's one thing about Star Wars that would pique Raylan's interest, it would be the cantina scene and the controversy surrounding the fact that the 'hero' shoots first.
