I don't think comments should be hidden if they are voted down. Just because a lot of people disagree with an opinion, doesn't make it invalid. A conscientious individual should be interested to hear all sides of a debate.

If there were no God, each of us would lose a great deal, since God is the one who gives man his purpose, his design and his ultimate reward/punishment for the deeds of his life. Man is therefore a meaningless and pointless creature without God.

Well, yeah. That can happen. Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen changed my life. However, if he were alive now, and if he read what I said, he'd say: "It was nothing I did, but it was the divine invasion." From his own explanation, Almighty God, through Sheen, saved me from Black Grace most terrible, Thank God, he still saves me! It's common for a person to understand the Faith, but not yet have Faith. Pray to God for Faith, and He will answer, I promise. One day, by the grace of God, we will fall on our knees and say, "Out of the depths have I cried to you, O Lord" (Psalm 130). God bless you!

Regarding Jesus being Caesar, I guess you'll just have to get in line with the Jews who viewed jesus as a blasphemer, the Muslims who don't think Jesus rose from the dead, those who think Jesus is a myth from pagan religions, those who say Jesus was not man, not God or never existed. What is it about Francesco Carotta' s work' Jesus Is Caesar' you do not understand? Carotta --if you read him at all -- proves, proves beyond any doubt, proves -- there never was a Jesus, ever, nor a Paul, nor disciples... I do wish Christians would take their heads out of the sand, read a little, and then they can go back to being haters of Jews and Communists like Ho Chi Minh....

Okay... You seem to view the world through the lense of hatred. You are the only one hating anyone here, you rationalise it by thinking everyone especially Christians is filled with hatred too. As a Christian, I am in fact full of hope and joy. Why does that irritate you so much? I don't doubt you believe Carotta's 2000 year later speculation but really that doesn't give you a legitimate leg to stand on for your campaign of hatred.

It si really wonderful to hear someone who speaks about God, with so much clarity and and depth. Today preaching in our world is at a very low level, we need many holy people to preach the good news again as the first Christians did. Archbishop Sheen did it with tools of his time. John Paul II told him few months before he died: You have written a lot and very well about our Lord, you a good son of the Church. Good epitaph for someone who gave his life for the Church. The 'first Christians' were the soldiers of Julius Caesar and they still are. Why don't Christians take their heads out of the sand and read Francesco Carotta. There is no point in discussing Christianity with people who are genetically incapable of reading anything but the Bible and who don't know or care where it come from or who wrote it...

It is funny that he should now quote Oscar Wilde , the Homosexual! People like Oscar Wilde still run from the hate that the Pope through men like Sheen disseminate. He also attacked Rosa Luxemburg and Auguste Comte. August Comte was the founder of Sociology, so, it is easy to see why Sociology , like Darwinian Evolution, has been almost in Catholic countries. So-called Catholic 'universities' reserves social science to ex-priests and nuns.

I wasn't alive to grow up with his show, but I dig the reruns.
@sebreathnach: Bishop Sheen has always been very witty with his jokes, and there's no reason to generalize.
And please, none of this "the Bible is fiction too" poop. People didn't just sit down to make up the stories, they come from a tradition of *human beings* trying to understand their world. Whether we believe or not we should respect that.

Why does he shout? Since when did the RC Church discover laughter? If anyone remembers The Name Of The Rose by Umberto Eco, they will recall the Church's suspicion of laughter. The Church has never been in the least bit suspicious of laughter...in fact, comments which use The Name of the Rose as an authority would probably have the hierarchy rolling in the aisles. BTW - you're completely wrong about Morgan, too - suggest you read the biography.

But if to day, Sunday 13th April 2008, you will find a group -- maybe 2 dozen -- masked men camped in Middle Abbey Street shouting abuse at the offices of Scientiology. No police are there..They are, of course, Opus Dei-related, and probably know to the Archbishop of Dublin and the Garda Commissioner...

I would love to see this man try to argue religion with my friend from my church, and Pastor. he would have nothing to say, and that is all.

Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen changed my life. However, if he were alive now, and if he read what I said, he'd say: "It was nothing I did, but it was the divine invasion." From his own explanation, Almighty God, through Sheen, saved me from Black Grace most terrible, Thank God, he still saves me! If (or more hopefully, when)I stand before our savior amidst all eternity, I hope to see how justly well Sheen is blessed: To see the utter lambency our God has bestowed upon him, rightly so.

Fulton Sheen is the MAN! The original tv preacher. Notice I said preacher which is what's going on in all non Catholic churches. I think it's funny they call it worship, there's nothing to worship there.

Father Corapi is another GREAT Priest who seems to have taken up Sheen's torch and is now running with it. You should listen to some of his talks, he refers to Sheen once in a while.
