  • like joke books etc? Mum clicked on this link and I was VERY surprised there was a show. I only had my books and I never saw the show as I'm too young. I wish we never got rid of the books :(. It wasn't an intentional thing, we had to get rid of lots of things me and my mum by my dad and he got all our stuff he didn't want to move and threw it in a trash removal truck. Mum had no say which really angers me becuase lots of our other vintage books went too :(. I miss them :(

  • (ctd) much older than me and loved it when they were little kids. I think they were from my brother actually as my sister was only born in 1980 and my brother in 1977, so I think that would mean they are from him. I was born in 1992. Mum and I were looking up books and they popped up on the site and we were so excited. Mum might get them if they don't go too high. They are very popular here in New Zealand by the looks of it. Do you know how many books they made all together? Including others

  • @vintagerosenz I was living in New Zealand in '84-'85, when I got these books (aged 5-6). My school teacher in Australia read 'Wally Walnut' to us just before my family moved to NZ. I think the series was quite popular in NZ. I remember getting Munch Bunch stickers at the supermarket (I think they had a different character each week), and the TV show was on in the afternoons for a few weeks. There were 36 Munch Bunch characters, plus 3 additional ones for NZ (con't next post)

  • @MeetTheMunchBunch All of the Munch Bunch characters are listed on the wikipedia page. There were also two additional series of books: a 1983 series (e.g. Aubrey Aubergine & The Grandfather Clock), and a 1984 series (e.g. Rozzy Raspberry's Wallpaper Machine). My youtube channel page has the characters depicted. Plus there was a Joke Book, an Annual each year for the early 80's, and a few other books such as 'The Munch Bunch Meet New Friends' (introducing the 1982 characters

  • @MeetTheMunchBunch thank you for the information. Mum said she remembers the books at 'Woolworths'. She said that is where she got them :). I did not think of looking on Wikipedia...lol. So stupid XD

  • @vintagerosenz I remember getting the books in a newsagent's, and in a book store. My parents got me all the ones I was missing from the character set for Xmas that year, ha ha.

  • My mum told me there was a tv show just now! ( I never knew!) I'm only 19 (20 soon) but when I was little these were some of my favourite book series. Mum read them over and over to me all the time! I loved all the characters! We got rid of all the books unintentionally when I moved. I miss them so much! We even had a joke book and some sort of colouring book etc. How I loved them! Mum is trying to buy them all for me! She misses it too! The books were from my brother and sister as they are

  • I was read these books as a kid (in the 90's) and never realised there was a TV show! MIND BLOWN!

  • i remember as young bloke gettin munch bunch stickers when you use to weigh up your veges at new world or paknsave

  • @choppa1710 Ha ha, I got those too at the supermarket when I lived in New Zealand for 6 months as a child. I also collected the set of books when I lived there. The Munch Bunch seem quite popular there - in fact, New Zealand is the country my Munch Bunch videos are most popular in! Iceland is the second country, interestingly, followed by the UK and Australia.

  • @MeetTheMunchBunch

I grew up in NZ too. For some reason the Munch Bunch just popped in my head today. I had all these books and this was my favourite show. Crazy you put these on here, as I havent seen these in 20+ years,

  • I made up a Munch Bunch character of my own when I was younger, I called her Eleanor Lime.

  • cool they all decided to rebel and break out of the shop. I see the blackberry and gooseberry are the bad boys.

  • Thank you so much for uploading these! I didnt even know there was a munch bunch series. I remember reading the books when I was little, and since I don't know where they are right now, this is the next best thing! Thanks again!

  • I'm desperate for more of these...

  • oh i loved this show!! thanks so much for allowing us to relive our childhood! :))

  • wheres part two!!!!!!

  • @buckbuckworth In the coming months I'll upload more.

  • @MeetTheMunchBunch Will we ever see this classic tv series on dvd?

  • Thanks for posting! Great memories.

  • Ha ha! Wow! What a blast from the past! A few familiar siunding voices there! Was that Colin Weland voicing Pete pepper?

  • @mistofoles No - all voices were by Charles Collingwood and Judy Bennett.

  • Wow this brings back some fond memories, used to love this show as a kid. Even had the album which had stories and songs from the show. Banana Rock, Banana Roll was featured in this clip, other classics I can remember were Swing Your Brolly and Spaceship Countdown 3-2-1. The others I've forgotten as the tape has gone astray. Looking back on it now I think Pete Pepper c. 1:58 sounds like David Dickinson!
