I'd imagine you made a similar weight with a rod in it like tremors has but without the "cylinder" tremors has. Seems like you used the buffer-tube as a cylinder and just made threads in the rear-end sealing it off and keeping the weight in.
Did you lock the buffertube in the lower-reciever or to the spring-quide with hollow screw?
What spring did you use for the weight and how heavy is it?
I had similar project planned, then modify saved me some trouble.
