My all time favourite filmed performance of JJ, and there are many. Can't recall who identified long ago the rather straightforward fact that Joplin was one of the great entertainers of rock and roll - hat kick at the end is a killer. Reviewers should listen to this one as gospel music, with the evangelical wildness leading to the unintentionally hilarious "call and response" before she goes into the finale.Wonder where that guy is now - still reaching perhaps?

rachakins, "raw" is a superb word for it. She was never "practised" or "slick". You could tell she had a truly exceptional talent. Lesten to her long passage in the middle of "Maybe", and you can tell that she had a GREAT vocal range. Pair that with "raw" and you have something that defies words...

Fantastic Janis. The band has no real soul compared to Big Brother and the Holding Company or her final Full Tilt Boogie Band. But the live performances of Janis with what ever band are always an inspiration. She was so fantastic.
