i think forte is the real deal. he hasn't been exactly dazzling but he can run, block and receive and makes a lot of big plays. jones is a good backup too.
Yeah, Benson had all the tools, but a 5 cent head. Just an arrogant ass with no work ethic at all. One of those guys who thought all he had to do was show up.
Forte has a great work ethic, and is just a good kid. He will be great if he stays healthy.
matt forte is da shit. lol, him, michael turner, maurice jones-drew are all gunna have a raw ass career. i like that guy hanie,he was good. he should be the 2 qb
well he seems to have a good mix between payton and sanders... and he backed that up when he ran all over the colt's 3rd rushing defense in the league
Are you out of your mind??? I'm a huge Bears fan and was very impressed by Forte's debut, but it's just one game. You wanna put Forte in the same sentence as Walter Payton and Barry Sanders?? He looked good, but thats all. Let him prove himself over a full season/career before you start casting his HOF bust.
first of all NOBODY says he was better than Payton after one game, and Matt is a humble individual that has IT. He's a STUD RUNNING BACK, and he is a force to be reckoned with!! I'm a bears fan for life, and Matt (because i watched him at tulane also by the way) is the best back we have had since neal anderson!!!
Real Talk.... Neal Anderson was always my Fav. Bears back since The Payton Era ended... I can see flashes of Forte having that kind of ability... I gotta good feeling about him
I agree, you guys remember that one year we had that quarterback that came off injured reserve and threw some bombs in the first few games of the season then proceeded to drop the snap a couple times in the super bowl.... oh yea his name was rex grossman.... *cries* GO BEARS!!!
nah that guy from the falcons michael turner reminds me of maurice... Forte reminds me of Walter Payton. He has the stride he stops on a dime and hes a powerhouse. He's just a faster version.
this kid is gunna be good, the bears really needed a good running back. this guy kinda reminds me of maurice jones-drew from da jaguars. i think the bears are gunna be pretty good this year. they got a healthy rb,decent qb,booker is back, and brandon lloyd looks like a pretty decent player too.and if u saw the bears-colts game yesterday. you can see the bears defense was beastin on colts. and bears special teams is one of the best in the nfl right now
He appears to have good feet and instinct for breaking tackles, but whether or not he'll be fast by NFL standards (first string, not just second/third string in the pre-season) will only be proven come game time. If he's good, he'll probably get a pretty heavy workload, but he'll have to create TD opportunities himself - the QB situation does not help.
I can see a hint of a adrian peterson(vikings) in him, he is big and even though it doesnt seem like he is quick he will burn you badly, an undiscovered underated back, kinda reminds me of a story of someoene else who played for the bears umm what was his name again o yeah WALTER PAYTON! i can see this kid rocking it big in Chi-Town!!!! Forte and the CHICAGO BEARS SUPERBOWL CHAMPS FOR '09
i hope this guy is good. he looks good in a highlight real. although i will be honest with you i would rather have someone that can actually break thru a line by sheer speed and brute force. i honestly dont see that in him.
He looks pretty good to me, although I couldn't tell for sure if he switches hands or not when running the ball. If he doesn't, that could be a lot of why he has a fumbling problem.
I'm not trying to hate on him, I am a Bears fan after all, he looks good but he had some really nice backside seal-off blocking on some of those runs. Hope the Bears can do the same for him.
It's always good to hear from fans who know what they're looking at rather than the hype. I can't say I'm a fan yet, but I can say i have a better feeling about Forte than I ever did about Cedric. Hopefully, he'll watch some old footage from another fellow who played HB for the Bears, get over the big league jitters, and take his place. Never Die Easy - Play Very Loud! True for us all
the bears are gonna be awful this year. they have no wide receivers, a rookie running back who went to Tulane (hmmm) and do I even need to get into Sexy Rexy
The Bears will not be awful. They aren't gonna go to the the Super Bowl, but they still play in a weak division with a couple pretenders, with the defense back at full strength and the game's best special teams corp they will compete. Mel Kiper also compares rookies Marcus Monk and Earl Bennett to Marques Colston and Hines Ward. And who cares about where Forte went to school? Ben Roethlisberger wnt to Miami OH, and Willie Parker went to UNC.
Eric Dickerson went to SMU, Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas went to Oklahoma State, Terrell Owens went to Tennessee Chatanouga, Randy Moss went to Marshall, Steve Largent went to Tulsa, LaDainian Tomlinson went to TCU, Steve Smith went to Utah, Jarred Allen went to Idaho State, do you want me to continue? it doesnt matter where you go to college, its how you perform. every dumbass who has ever played football can tell u that.
dude nabs ur crazy to even compare peterson from the vikings to forte no one has the combination of size, speed, power and elusiveness that peterson packages together. Forte has the size and the power so it seems and has the makings of a good back but don't compare the two when its not close. if forte breaks the single game rushing record then maybe we can talk but just maybe
Welcome to the Bears Matt, Keep your nose clean, dont drink and drive in a car or on a boat. The Bears drafted a little RB from the south some time ago, and not many had high hopes then... But then that RB became the best RB NFL has ever seen. Lets see what ya got, good luck and hit that hole hard and leave nothing left and this city will love ya. Oh yea dont hold out,, ok? lol
im a saints fan but i go to tulane and matt forte is THE MAN. i watched this kid run the ball last season. i have a feeling he's goin to do great in the nfl. the fact that most pple critisize his ability bc hes from tulane & C-USA, we'll only give him more motivation to show wat he's got.most players that come in from a big time college think they're off the bat going to be as good as in college. matt forte will be great man! good luck to yall!
Forte was also the senior bowl MVP, he averaged 4.6 yards against LSU in 07 and was relatively lightly used avging around 160 carries his first 3 years, before carrying the load last year and producing a 2000 plus yard season. What's good about this is that he will be durable, and fresher for a long pro career. Forte has a great work ethic as im sure most of you have heard though we may have another cedric problem with him....he is often out at 3...4 in the morning.......doing wind sprints ppl..
nabs307 ur absolutly crazy u must have a few screws loose if you think forte is even close to adrian peterson he played at a smaller school and is no where near the back. Its not just size and speed and speed wise forte aint even close but he doesn't have the imma punish u mentality AP has he'll be good forte will but no AP
Superman3105, Forte played in a small school that's why he didn't get the same attention that Peterson did and you must be blind not to see the comparation!!!!!!!
First off...NO back will ever be "sweetness" like our Legendary #34. Second, Forte is NOTHING like Benson. As stated earlier, he comes from a small school and is PROUD to put the "C" on his helmet unlike Benson was when we drafted him. Forte realizes the tradition of running backs here in Chicago and I hope the offensive line can open up some lanes for him, thats where the skill takes in.
Lets not forget that Payton regularly benched 500lbs and ALWAYS worked out in the offseason.
with benson gone i just dont know if forte can take the load, he shows potential but then again he hardly played vs quality teams...but then again payton was almost the same...only time will tell...HOPEFULLY...GO BEARS!!
lets just hope he doesn't end up like benson did when he first signed his contract with the bears. Hegot lazy cause he knew he was going to be the starter and wasn't going to be challenged anymore. He only started working hard when thomas jones was there and took over the starting position. Once thomas was gone he ran like his feet were in mud and he ran into people more than he ran through them.
yeah i don't think we have to worry about Forte being anything like Benson. Forte is from a small school out to prove himself to the NFL for being passed on early and his attitude is great, he's a nice guy.
Doesn't Forte lead on 3rd down conversions at the moment? He seems to be able to find a hole through almost any situation.
