  • @DrunkFaggotyMo Ziggy is based upon Ziggy Stardust, an androgynous alterego created by David Bowie. Both the song and video implies that he is gay. In the French version, she sings 'he is a boy unlike the others'. If Ziggy was bisexual, there would no problem with a female's advances.

  • ziggie sbirro

  • w ziggie! nek gay!

  • The french version is better :)

  • @muskiskoka its still there. she says "i wish i was one of the boys" versus I know he's gay. Plus the video alludes to him being gay the entire time

  • @alkclark Are you sure that Ziggy was gay? I think he was bi.

  • This song is better in french, but it's nice to hear a different version!

  • Gay boy who 's hot always have a lot of friends

  • french is the best version

  • there's no other like the french version!

  • this version isn't rare in Canada, eh!

  • can someone tell me why all gay boy have a lot of friends???

  • @Babas1915 why not?

  • good

  • In french she sang" he's very very gay", and "he loves the boys" but the english version leaves it out.

  • The french version is better.

  • how old is she(celine) here? she's really pretty. and young.

  • There is no doubt about the fact Ziggy is gay because it's the subject of the Musical of this song is extracted : impossible love and sexual identity troubles...

This song is a part of Marie-Jeanne character repertory and MJ love ziggy who prefer boys and takes his name from David Bowir in Ziggy Stardust.

This song became a french gay communauty anthem when it was realized so... no doubt about the sense ^^

  • This is practically gay porn ...

  • @frenchlearner7 how?

  • Celine is so beautiful on this video.

  • Wow, this sounds ridiculous in English. I laughed the whole way thru!

  • I did not know this existed

  • Celine, girl, you are barking up the wrong tree.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this!

I even very hard to find this song on CD and until now never find this song everywhere!

  • I like this song and yes he is gay or thas my understanding, and celine has feeling for him and she know that it will never be anyhing between them. as far as the kiss she is whishing that it was her not a man

  • s some have said it earlier this song comes from Starmania (written and sung in French- a Canadian to be exact). Yes, in French, the song says that Ziggy is Gay. I agree that it is a different approach and only watching the vdo gives an idea of what she is talking about: but not before 2'26" when he meets his boyfriend. She wishes so much to be with him that she imagines herself in his arms kissing him. This is the explanation of the last scene

  • This song comes form the show Starmania: in French she sings "I know that he is gay and nothing can change him" If you watch the end again you will see that he is about to kiss his boyfriend, but she wishes so much to be with him that she imagines herself in his arms this is why he "seems" to kiss her.

  • If french songs stayed in francophone we would havemissed some great music, comme d habitude is shite, compared with my way, and anything by Charles has no voice can be forgotton, the French sadly have no real pop music and Celine sounds better in Anglophone, et je parle le français. Downtown sounds great in German...

  • Who is "Ziggy"? The real life actor? He's cute : D

  • hahaha. the french version is so much better, yet the english version is sooo much truer. as in, i relate to every single line of that version. haha.

  • She is only daydreaming of such an ending.

Go back to :40. His eyes were drawn to the young man, not her. She wanted to believe it was her.

The French version is so beautiful.

  • the french version has well more depth :/

  • i was watching this in french class

  • en francais c'est tellement meilleur

  • I listened to it in french and could not understand what it meant but now i do, it is so funny lol - love you celine xx

  • The french version is much better - yes! - but love this version too!!!

  • the french version is way better!

  • french version has got more sense

  • i prefer the french version, i think Celine is better for sing in french than english because she is a french canadian!!

and because i am french and i prefer the french.

  • I prefer the french version is most sweet

  • Celine was so pretty then!

  • Yes she was. She still is :).

  • That's a funny video.

  • I totally identify with Celine in this song! :-(

  • Love it

    Je l'aime

    The guy is not gay

    But he likes boys

  • That means gay..

  • huh?

    Ziggy is gay!

I don't know anything about the actor in the vid. I mean the person Celine is singing about. Ziggy is gay and that's why Celine sings that she loves him but can never really be with him.

  • isnt that guy from titanic!!!

  • nope!! i bet he was a child when this song came out

  • no it's not from titanic.

  • lenardo ,,, noo

  • a gem!!!

  • In Starmania, Ziggy actually sings that he didn't play Football or Hockey but took ballet lessons instead. He fell in love with David Bowie so he changed his name to Ziggy after that.

This was filmed in Montreal near the Formula 1 racetrack, you can even see the Biosphere from Expo 67 in the background at 1:28

  • is she sings that ziggy is gay ??? i dont know but im pritty sure that ziggy is gay :(( to bad :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • Of course He is gay, this is the reason of this song lol!

  • yep

  • I love Celine since always but I didn´t know about the meaning of this song till now... and I love it!!!

  • J"ADORE CETTE CHANSON!!!!!!

  • What are the English Lyrics? What is she singing here?

  • Oh my God

Please Please tell me who is the guy who plays Ziggy??????????????

  • Comment removed

  • ziggi is gay in french she says i know that he like boy he alway bring me in gay bar

  • i deeply understand this song since i've been in such an awkward situation.

    yeah that sucks.

i really loved somebody but that person wasn't intrested in me.

  • What's the name of the guy playing the part of Ziggy ?

    He's a dreamboat !

  • nice english interpretation, but the french one is way better

  • this sucks compared to the french version, it just sounds so darn cheesy :P and pretty wrong..."he can do whatever he wants" "his first in many ways" :/

maybe i'm just too dirty-minded for my own good lmao.

love you celineeee, i get weak for you! lmao (L)

  • Sir Tim Rice wrote the English lyrics for this amazing song: "which is actually one of the few [lyrics] I have written that I have no wish to improve."

350,000 French bought this in 1993, making is on of the biggest hits of the year.

Tycoon/Starmania has never been done in Britain - pity cos it's a fab show.

In my opinion, Celine always sounds better singing in French - she often sounds quite harsh in English. A highly talented chanteuse, nevertheless!

  • Some peopel say tht he is gay, but he kisses her in the end. Can someone explain the video to me.

Also this song really relates me. lol. I really like this boy called Ziggy - but he's not gay - however coz of his religion I can't share my life with him. He said he's doesn't see me 'tht way' but things he does suggest different. I am so sad I keep singing this...lol.

  • At the end the kiss is in "Celine's" imagination. Watch closely, you see Ziggy's boyfriend walking up to him, and then we see a behind view, the hood is take off, and it's Celine. At the end we see her imagining it.

  • RIGHT !

  • @BarbraCatalog She fantasizing being with him, because she loves him but he's gay.

  • @petitunfluer i'm really sad to tell you that it is a gay themed song.., from Starmania(Musical from plamondon)

  • Today, I heard this English version for the

first time. Even though I don't speak French

(very well), I prefer the romantic touch of

the French version. Nice video and lovely

    song. T.

  • i prefer the french version it just goes better wiv the music in my opinion.

  • i loved this song berfore my french teacher made me realize the real meaning of the song..........the song has touch.............in french is quite better, i invite u to hear at least it once.......then you can figure out the sacastic way she declared her crazy love

  • My name is Ziggy!

  • I love U

  • Oh, goodness you don't want to know just watch the video, lol.

  • yes, she's in love with him but he's gay.

And she knows it's totally impossible that he falls in love with her...

I think the french version (the original) is better. But I like it too

  • yes the french version is much better. I just saw this version. I grew up with the french version in Canada.

  • thanks 4 this !

  • Yeah, isn't he gay or something and she falls in love with him?

  • Um... Yep, this song's much better in French! The lyrics's just awesome, i really like it... In French xD

  • Both versions are very nice. Its nice to hear it in English also because there are hardly any songs out there about gay people. This is great!

  • Sorry Celine, Ziggy is gay and he is for me, and for me alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lmao

  • oh, by the way. her voice is totally better when she sings in french. compare the latest french album to the latest english one... sooo good! i'm so jelaus towards french speaking people... i want to understand what she says in "immonsite"

  • the frenc version is much better. she gives much more of her voice in it. ( listen, and compare for your selves). plus the english version don't make no cents... it's a bad translation from the french version. i don't speak french..

  • This song makes me sad....Sure, in a good meaning

  • How 'bout YOU try falling for someone who couldn't possible love you that way in return, and then see what you have to say about it. Ignoramus.

  • I really prefer the french version, not because I'm French, just because I think the english song is different from the french original sense.

But anyway, its a good song, whatever the language used !

  • elle est bien mais je la préfère en français ...

  • Help this song is stuck in my head

  • I'm guna be walking around tonight going 'Ziggyyyyy I call him ziggy I'm so hot for himm' like a loser haha

  • love this version also!

  • the french song sounds better :-)

  • The french version had more nudity in the video....

  • the english people would never allow it!

  • how fitting...i like a guy they call ziggy only he's not gay. thanks a lot celine dion...adding injury to injury...

  • me too :( love hurts lol

  • So I'm guessing Celine tied you up in chains and FORCED you to listen to the song???

  • arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrkk.

    c koi ca en anglais.

jhais kan elle fait les trucs en anglais. ( comme aek je taime encore) c 248y1784y286 moins meilleur et en plus c comme, contre Luc Plamondon et J-J Goldman.!

  • j'aime cette chanson, it's one of my favorites by Celine Dion. lol. She should sing cette chanson at her tour. Yo amo esta cancion muchisimo.

  • she says (i'm so hot for him) not (so hard for him)

  • Cette chanson est tres bonne, mais je pense que j'aime le version francais meilleur aussi. Ce video est tres sexy.

  • LOL. Right at the beginning it sounds like she sings 'I'm so hard for him'! DIRRRTY!

  • J'aime le version français meuilleur.

  • ha ha ha, who knew Celine would have done a gay topic video way back

  • LOL...

It's actually not so much a "gay topic" as it is about a person who falls in love with someone she can never have, therefore it's quite universal. :D

  • They have left the "gay topic" out of the English version. But the french version is really not that universal. In french she sings he loves boys etc...

  • *smacks head and rolls eyes*

...Dear, you missed my point ENTIRELY. The fact that the french version says "he loves boys" doesn't change the song's universal appeal - it's STILL predominantly about someone who falls for a person they can't have.

  • Actually, in Quebecoise Culture, homosexuality isn't an "issue" it is just who people are, like blue eyes or 6 foot tall. YOU MISUNDERSTAND what FDANSCHUTTER is stating, which is, that English culture is still so freaked out by homosexuality that they "cleaned" up the song for the English Audience she has while in Las Vegas. In Quebec, when I lived there, we all knew what the song was about AND yes, it is about unrequited love, but because he is homosexual no intimate love for a girl.

  • Oh ok, well how did they clean it up then? I'm curious now...what does the french version say as opposed to the english one? Is it more obviously homosexual or something?

  • Yes, the words say that he won't love anyone but another boy. I am not very good at interpretation, but it is obvious that he is gay and will never be able to love a girl. She believes if he loved her, she could "change" him, because he can only "really love" a man.

It is still unrequited love, Rupert Everitt, from My Best Friends Wedding is HAWT, but knowing he is gay? I won't waste my time crushing on him. She, in the song, is crushing on him hoping she could be "THE ONE" to change him. . .

  • More Trivia: Plamondon is one of Celine's best selling albums in French. Luc Plamondon is the songwriter. He is a VERY FAMOUS writer of French songs sung both in Canada and France. Luc Plamondon, before he became a famous songwriter was a Roman Catholic Priest.

  • The French version actually says: "Oui, je sais, il aime les garçons." Which means: "yes I know, he loves boys".

  • leave that song be a gay hymn, we don't have so much stuff, we keep that.... And we keep the rainbow as well it's not anymore straight

the english version is poor compare to the originale one in french

  • i agree but she is just fantastic no matter wot languge she's singing. i love her so much. celine 4eva x

  • french one is better but the song is fantastic in every language

  • i love this song so much its so sad. love celine 4eva n eva she's the best. x

  • I prefer it in French but I feel sorrier for Celine when she sings it in English

  • weird i have never heard it in english

  • Celine is looking good.:)

  • Wow, this is so weird to hear in English! The French version is much better, I think.. It has more feeling, and it just makes more sense. Not so much in English.

  • Even though I'm english, I like the french version better. It seems to flow better. Although it was neat to see this version! :)

  • yeahh, i agree!

  • I once knew a boy named Ziggy--he wasn't gay or anything, but he was rather rotund. He was a giant, teenage boy in Brooklyn. Stepson of my friend's landlord; this friend borrowed Ziggy's navy blue fisherman's sweater, and never gave it back. Je t'accepte. J'adore tous le monde.

  • Je t'accepte.

  • ziggy is my cat too!! :D

  • ziggy is my cat!!!!!yahahahahahahahaha

  • terrible lyrics...

  • That's the thing with singing in a different language, it sounds better, more romantic, in it's original form, but basiclly I think so too. I still like the song though.

  • super bon

  • French is better!

  • Protip: This song blows in English.

  • its soo sad...i liked a ziggy once...he broke my heart! :'( sniff sniff

  • Both French and English version are wonderful to me. Pretty nostalgic, but I am one of the Ziggy in real life...

  • Pas mal, mais je préfère la version française.

  • the dude who plays ziggy is gorgeous!

  • celine is gr8 and this is a very good version :)

    mattx

  • The origianl FRENCH VERSION is so much better. It doesn't translate out as well into English.

  • i love this song!!

  • VIDEO

  • i always she talks about a waiter (garcon)!

but when my french friends explained me that the story is 'different' well i just could believe. then i found the video clip in here - and i see, they are right. its her, falling in love with a gay men!

well - that does not just happen to her!

  • celine has an incredible voice!she's the best!

  • It's a good interpretation, we can't deny it, she has a great voice. Who's the guy in the videoclip??^^ I think he's hot!

    Thanks for this.

    xxx

  • best unhappy song ever...we always want what we cant have (now,we want Ziggy ];))

  • Wow, I didn't know there was English version, but I have to say I prefer the French, if only because of what has not been translated; just omitted.

  • my favorite song

  • wondeful song,, it's so hard falling in love with a person having a different orientation ,,, thanks for the song!

  • AMEN TO THAT!

  • its a wonderful song... but at that time it was banned in sing when i was a kid then as the country was not open abt gays then... it was only released here arnd 2004 arnd there... thanx

  • I didnt even know there was an english version!!!! Great find!

  • I don't fink it's dat ezi to shift gears in reality, but i get ur point... She looks reli preti in da vid. "Even if i know, he'll never love me"

  • I Wish Celine Had A Crush On Me. Even If I Was Gay, I'd Turn Hetero REALLY Fast!

  • hahaha!!!...that comment was funny! I bet you are not the only one though who will change though...:P

  • Pretty much the only thing translated directly is "I call him Ziggy" and even that is kind of iffy.

  • I was just thinking the same thing! The French version is much better!

  • Thanks for posting - interesting that Celine gets around the direct translation of 'un garcon pas comme les autres' and with 'he lives a life that I can't share'. 'Il aime les garcons' isn't translated here either !

  • Great find!
