  • Been into Blackfoot since the early eighties still floats my boat.

  • A great song from Free. Good to hear another version, even if the vocals are technically inferior to the original.

  • CLASSIC

  • Man, I love this band! Rickey's solos are always great and Charlie T H's are always spot-on. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

  • at least they are paying homage to a great band and a great song, But Free did the first and best version of this song, and no one can touch Paul Rogers vocal ability.

  • This is very great song by Blackfoot and good video. Julia

  • @5julia10 For sure' I agree' Blackfoot was always excellent

  • Bad ass video! Thanks for posting.

  • Free was headed up by Paul Rogers, who cowrote this song. Paul Rogers also was lead vocals with Bad Company.

  • I gather that guy is bald now.

  • @955472 He plays with Skynard now, so go look

  • african american foot fetish

  • Saw this band about 1982 at the Gaumont in Ipswich.

  • For someone who asked this Song was first performed by a band called Free

  • Song was first performed by a band called Free

  • what does he say at the beginning this is a song from? and then i cant catch that bit

  • @007jkirk "Here's a song from the Strikes album. The song is entitled Wishing Well"

  • @ilovesouthernrock ah cheers m8 haha thanks :)

  • @007jkirk A google search would have taken less time to find the answer.

  • @Holdington not really also that guy commented straight after i posted it

  • i think its better than frees version

  • I think this is ok but trying to cover a song originally sung by Paul Rodgers is a bit adventurous. He's a singer's singer.

  • not as good as Free but great effort, that drummer is on top form.

  • Nothing can even come close to Blackfoot's rendition of this song. Based on their other material, they might as well have written it.

  • I want to raise these rockers !!!!!

  • Gary Moore (RIP) did a great version of this song

  • I saw this tour at the Portsmouth stadium. Blackfoot was amazing. Ricky always play tremendously loudly. This is an excellent video but it can't convey the stupendous crunch of his guitar. By the way, for all those that don't get "covers," yes it's a Free song, and yes,no one sings it like Paul Rogers. Jeez, can we all just get along? :)

  • This IS a FREE song and the others don't come close and therez nothing

    wrong with that.

  • Paul Rogers is the best singer of this song and the band is FREE if anyone

    would like to know

  • @shelbyac57 I have to beg the differ...and yeah i listed to free's version

  • Isn´t this a FREE song?????

  • @jenzyjoplin yes it is i saw them in melbourne 1971

  • @jenzyjoplin You sir are correct. Not a lot of people in Canada in the 70's would have known that though

  • Opps America. Sorry I always thought they were Can., but apparently they were from Jacksonville

  • no doubt that they where underrated..so glad I saw this lineup many times at the clubs here in NJ!

  • @ agentshavers, yeah he left before they hit it big. I remember an outtake album called 'First and Last' where Rickey sang one song of his, White Dove. I had the privelege of seeing Blackfoot twice in Denver and once in my (and their) hometown of Jacksonville. Rickeys dad, Shorty did the intro to 'Train Train'. That shit would make the hair on your arms stand up. They also brought Allen Collins onto the stage to say hi, what a show!

  • @agentshavers -- No, Ricky was never the singer in LS. He was the original drummer way back in the day, left before they made it big, came back in the late 90s as a guitarist.

  • Fellas, I can tell you, as a musician for 30 years, playin' Southern Rock, Black Foot was my favorite band to play, favorite song was Wishing Well. I'm talking This Line Up of Black Foot. Not fellas' I'm from Kentucky, I started pickin' when I was 8. Everybody picked guitar, the more the merrier, we had nothing else to do. Bluegrass mostly, then guys stated comin' around with amps and V's

  • I was in a band back in 1979-1986 3 lead guitars (I was one of 'em) bass, drums, vocalist. We did This Line UP of Blackfoot. Street Fighter, Wishing Well, Too Hard, Railroad Man, we did Molly Hatchet, Flirtin', Whisky Man, etc, Skynard, .38 Special with Ronnie VanZant. We were loud, but Marshall Loud, big ass sound system. But out of all it, I loved playin' "Wishing Well". I have a question, I should know the answer, the singer in Black Foot, did he sing in Skynard? Ricky?

  • Amazing stuff indeed! Thanks for this!

  • Not even close to "Free". This guy can't sing worth a shit. He should be ashamed to even try to sing a Paul Rodgers song.

  • @RMLtiger Nah mate, this version kicks Free's asses. Look at Ricky's guitaring, and he can play drums, something Rodgers can't do. Don't get me wrong, I love free, but Blackfoot are better!!!

  • @perthgloryboy I'm really comparing their voices. Ricky can't sing. Rodger's voice is legendary.

  • @RMLtiger You're a novice if you think Medlocke can't sing.

  • @RMLtiger You sir are a fool!! Medolockle is an amazing singer!!! Plus you are illiterate! It's Rickey!

  • U2..... LOL R&R hall of fame ??? Blackfoot on the outside looking in ? Fucking bullshit ! Blackfoot has a million seller and a cpl gold and this band isnt in the in ??? Train train and Highwayway song should be an auto ... Lets welcome Blackfoot to the .... Instead a bunch of no talent losers that have nothing to do with R&R are in ! Prozac ??? LOSERS !!!

  • I'll still be listen to this Good Jam untill the day I am gone.Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rock on BLACK FOOT!

  • they left AJ's Rock n Roll Emporium in ruins in 87, along with Pat Travers and Kiss the LOUDEST concert I have ever experienced....

  • Was this a cover of Free's "Wishing Well"?

  • @fumetti It is indeed a cover of Free's "wishing well". I think Blackfoot does a great job covering this song despite the fact that they haven't changed much from the original version.

  • I saw these boys several times in Florida back in the late 70's and early 80's. Every single time they were very much a part of the musical evening...

  • Saw Blackfoot in 1981 at Hare Arena in Dayton, Ohio with a then very, very young Def Leppard. What a show!!

  • The first concert I went to I was 12 years old back in 78 Blackfoot Scorpions and Ted nugent .Great show

  • i never realized this was a FREE/ Paul Rogers song until this morning.i think i like BLACKFOOT doing it better.no disrespect Paul.

  • Medlocke is probabaly one of the best singers in southern rock...

  • @Kingsnake77 ..... Not only Southern Rock!!! Rickey is in my opinion one of the top four vocalists in rock history!!!

  • @ozzierjr2 Who is your other three top vocalists.

  • @GOODY61 In no particular order, Ian Gillan - Deep Purple, Rob Halford - Judas Priest, and Bon Scott - AC/DC, there any so many greats that i always rotate someone into the 5 spot, Dio, Dickinson, Rodgers, Marriott, Zander, Farner, Mercury,Byford,Bonnett,Tate, the list go's on! But those are my top 4, each with their own style and power!!!

  • AHH! Listening to Blackfoot!! brings back allot of great memories!! I feel for the kids today!! Nothing but crap out there.................

  • good shit!

  • This line up of BLACKFOOT is the most underated band in modern rok history! Amazing!

  • @ozzierjr2 right on brother!!!!,,,,,,,,,,,he needs to get the hell out of that lynyrd skynyrd cover band and get back to this badd ass shit.Diary of a Workin Man!!!!!

  • lol, look at the drummer his hair xD

  • @KaDriumDubstep that cause hes an indian

  • Hell yeah...gets my neck up everyd damn time I hear it...BLACKFOOT...hell F****** yeah! Saw many a time..never dissapointed...

  • awsome

  • god bless you jackson spires

    one of the best

  • I knew Medlocke had an on and off affiliation with Lynyrd Skynyrd over the years, but when I read he actually played with the band in 1970 as a drummer it blew my mind. I guess he actually grew up with those guys.

In any event. this was a Great band and with a power live performance as good as it gets anywhere - Highway Song in the Zurich 82 live performance proves that.

  • Great seeing this on here . I got to see a band called The Dixie Allstars play at a small club in my home town of Roanoke VA around feb. of 90 - 91 . Im not 100% sure of the line up but Jackson Spires was playing and one or two of the guitars were from Molley Hatchet . Now here's the kicker , that evening it snowed about 10" ! There were about 8 patrons and 3 staff in the club all night and they blew us away . We talked to the guys between sets and Jackson hade the fleu. Theres more but ....

  • Get the "Marauder" album..Blackfoot at the top of their career.Saw them at Donington festval '81 and they seriously embarassed the headlining bands.

  • Blackfoot is from Florida Not North Carloina

  • Anybody want A DVD of the whole show? Message me.

  • they are from nc. how or what does that mean? i remember now. i'm from nc.

  • One of the great bands of the Southern Rock genre who doesn't get enough credit, which they absolutely deserve. They released an album in (I think) '76 with an airplane on the cover (can't remember the name, help is appreciated), and that thing is absolutely brilliant from front to back.

    "Flyin' High", maybe?

  • @dmreeoogdaq Yes, it is Flyin' high. They also have a album called "No Reservations" and those were the first two ones.

  • COOL

  • well that ROCKED!!

  • Thank you for these great videos. I had the privilege of meeting Blackfoot in 1977 and remained friends with them for many years. Unfortunately, with the split up in the mid 80's, I started losing touch bit by bit. Still hear from Greg from time to time when he has time with his busy schedule.

Again, thank you for taking me back to the good old days!!

  • This version of Blackfoot is the only, I want to remember.. !Thunderfoot was underated, He should have been at the top of the best drummers list.... Seen them in 1981 Dont wan't to see the newer line ups, just not the same . And this version of this song is much better then free.

  • this is the blackfoot I wanted to see....i saw rick medlocke in orlando with a reformed blackfoot in the late 90s...he couldnt sing anywhere near this strong.....this sounds like him on Strikes....his high register is gone

  • Jackson was one of the classiest guys in the biz. Blackfoot made a career out of opening for the biggest southern bands of the time, {Hatchett, Outlaws ect] and fucking DESTROYING them!

  • Saw Blackfoot blow the roof of the Las Vegas convention center as the warm up band for Fog hat back in the day Fog hat looked shell shocked when they got on stage Long live southern rock

  • this is a song from Free isn't this?

  • MrSkynyrd66 grew up and is now Thunderdrumass HaHa. KEEP ON ROCKIN.

  • Jakson was the man, I miss your THUNDERFOOT my American Indian Brother , we are a dying breed.

  • hope u didnt waste too much beer lol

  • ricky your god ,,but cant help having a chuckle to myself how much u look like a young bob hope

  • @bri1968

    BASTARD!!!

You just made me spit beer through my nose.

  • I always did think the young Bob Hope was hot ;-)

  • @bri1968 man , i started laughing and i couldnt stop !!

  • I love Blackfoot's version of this song. I'd rather hear Rickey Medlocke sing it than Paul Rodgers. The band "Free" that Paul Rodgers sang with before Bad Company was formed is who wrote and originally recorded this song.

  • @GBeret83 I'm a Blackfoot fan and like Rickey Medlocke but listen to this version and compare the vocal to Paul Rodgers's live versions and you see it is no contest.

Rodgers is the best live vocalist I have ever heard.

  • I´ve seen them in the year1982:

    Chanched my life!!!

  • @catacombers saw that tour also .. opening for maiden .. they kicked maiden 'ass .. bruce was so mad

  • @bacalex61 ...Summer 82 in SouthGermany: Local Heroes "Scorpions" in Stuttgart! Opening Act: Blackfoot! Nobody knew them! But Medlocke & his Gang were so fantastic; the audience is crying/shouting "more Blackfoot!" for 20 minutes after! the beginning of the Top Act!

    Schenker&Scorpions were so mad!!!

  • love you blackfoot, the 80s were a great time for rock music, im glad i was there. lyndascotland.

  • Listen to this version:

    Van Beukenstein

    here on youtube

  • I'd be happy if I could sing as well as him with both my lungs!!

  • Quoting Rickey

"I have one lung. I operate off of one lung. I have a respiratory illness. It's a low grade form of cystic fibrosis. I've had it ever since I was a small child."

  • Having one lung probably affects Rickey's live vocal capacity. But for me his stage presence more than makes up for it.

  • What ?

  • Tell me , did'nt Jakson Thunderfoot Spires kick ass on those drums That bass foot WoW!!! Thunderfoot was very fitting. R.I.P Jakson FLY ON FREEBIRD.

  • @MrSkynyrd66 yes. He was incredible.

  • @MrSkynyrd66 yep, incredible.

  • @MrSkynyrd66 Thunderfoot inspired many many drummers, and rightfully so!

  • @MrSkynyrd66 that great Blackfoot drummer is dead?! please say it isn't so....

  • @MrSkynyrd66 I used some of Jacksons later recordings to help my drum students understand what a tasteful drum track was. Very under rated drummer!

  • @MrSkynyrd66 Dr. Jakson was the best! Very underrated drummer! R.I.P Dr. Jakson "Thunderfoot" Spires

  • these guys still rock saw them last year at penn's peak.

  • rickey is alot better in the studio than he is live....as far as his vocals...

  • Blackfoot kicks ass...period

  • heeellyeah!!

  • I remember in 1980 when I was seven, my dad and I were driving from Vancouver BC to eastern Oregon. We were travelling through the Yakima WA area when it suddenly got real dark because of St Helens erupting. The one thing I really remember was driving through the ash in my dad's rig with Wishing Well ( studio version ) on the radio. It was a fine, nostalgic, and scary moment, but I will always remember it.

  • Thats a great story, best regards from the U.K my friend.

  • The hardest rocking of all southern bands......and probably the most underrated.

  • Why Blackfoot didn't get any bigger than they did is mind boggling. They were masters!!!

  • grow up beardpussy

  • The whole intire "Strikes" album was beyond decent.

  • that includes "Tomcattin" and "Marauder"

  • this is a good song no matter who wrote it.

  • This is poor raw shit second rate pub band wud do better job

  • Everyone has a right to their opinion, sorry that you had to share yours though.

  • Never mind child youll get over it

  • Did one of these guys steal your girlfriend back in the day or something?

  • no but i stemmed your bitch last nite she took it real good up the ass

  • Are you bitter because you realize that after being alive for half a century, you still have nothing better to do than argue about a youtube video? You leave absolutely no question that age has nothing to do with maturity.

  • Your the thicko that started arguing punkass

    go play with your toys

  • Just judging by your original comment and your reactions to others, I figured that you would give juvenile but entertaining replies, you bit hook, line and sinker. Thanks for a couple good laughs and for making me feel more secure in myself knowing I won't end up like you.

  • no probs little boy keep on with your cindy dolls

  • Everybody thinks they're a critic, even though they don't know shit about music.

  • opinions are like arseholes everyones got one

  • True, just like the opinion you gave about this video. You gave an opinion. I stated a fact. You sure walked into that one. :-)

  • if you like this your`ll like SWAMPFREAKS..check them out!!!

  • you must be deaf sunny

Free sheer class Rodgers best vocalist ever

  • Never said he wasnt a good vocalist, I just favor blackfoots version over free's.

  • I think it's more because this is live rather than Free vs Blackfoot. This live version is rawer with more energy.

  • Question WTF do u know about music dickhead?

Answer jack shit and THATS A FACT

  • That's a good self analysis. :-) You now know your place.

A word of advice. Don't try Trolling with the master, ME!! HaHaHaHa. You are like a child, putty in my hands. I use intelligence. You resort to insults.

  • yeah TUNNEL RAT THATS CORRECT MASTER OF THE ASS

  • Great song! "Rattlesnake" has very personal, strong voice. Damn, today nobody dont make this kind of good music, or maybe i am just too old to (46) like this days music...

  • Comment removed

  • I love the entire "strikes" album. I still remember where I was the first ime I heard Blackfoot song, "Train Train" on the radio. I was 17-18 years old unloading produce in the back of a grocery store. Train Train came on and I just stopped and listened to the whole song and was blown away! I bought the record and all the rest of them after that (all vinyl) . I'm just about 50 now and still enjoy them very much. (CDs) Thanks for posting the video.

  • songs like that great to work out with band , simple plus it gives you chance to improvise

  • southern rock rules

  • they don't make them like this any more. Shame!

  • the reason this band didn't make it big is they can't be labeled fuck corp rock

  • Great stuff...

  • Original Molly Hatchet and Blackfoot are the best two bands I have seen live. I loved Diary of a Workingman. A couple of years ago I saw Medlocke backstage at a LS concert and he introduced me to a few of the guys in LS and I remember telling Rossington that very people I have seen live could play a guitar like Medlocke. I saw Blackfoot live 15-20 times over the Medlocke years. None since.

  • Lucky MFer!!!!

  • they opened for Nugent back in 82 they were really freaking great!

  • i was lucky enough to see Blackfoot a couple of times in the early 80's and they rocked hard. One of the finest gigs in my life was Blackfoot supporting The Scorpions at Wolverhampton Civic Hall. Both bands were blistering hot, at the height of their powers. Happy memories!

  • I am so glad I started looking into this band. I am a big metal fan: Priest, Maiden, etc, but this stuff is great.

    Great tone on those guitars!

  • Allen Collins ,Gary Rossington,Rickey Medlocke are the reasons I even picked up a guitar.

  • same

  • Envy folks who heard Blackfoot live.

    Wonderful work.

  • saw blackfoot-mtb-outlaws-cdb-molly hatchet-rcb-new skynyrd(91) all live- have to tell you one of the frickin best shows was Blackfoot! Rickey is one of the best guitarists ive ever seen!

  • Yes, Blackfoot is one of the bands that should have gotten much more attention than they ever did.

  • But you know what are great about these bands? Lynyrd skynyrd, blackfoot and so on. There are no little girl's yelling in front row.

  • i can play this on gtr =)

  • That's a real driving tempo they're using there....Lov it

  • Now THAT is how it's done...

  • I do know this of Gary Moore also good!

  • Takes me back... Still love'em.

  • Straight like "Southern Comfort"!

  • this is ol' good blackfoot i dont like it without rick

  • Can't really even be considered Blackfoot w/o Ricky, you know ?

  • every time i here blackfoot its like going back to the 80s keep letting me dream of the mayfair in newcastle xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • I have this on cassette-

  • I see your cassette and raise you an 8 track

  • Ill see you a Medlocke autographed vinyl

  • Ill see your cassetes and raise you a Tomcattin Vinyl with an old spanish wedding certificate picked up from a flea market..

    o.0

  • I just got this on CD the other day. $8.99 @ FYE. It kicks ass!!!

  • good but better than rodgers, i think not.

  • someone please tell me these guys are still around?
