You didn't make it to the Hive level? I was curious to see what a female gamer thought of that one, in video rather than text. I was pretty horrified, myself, but I'm trying to figure out just where they crossed the line from the lovably ironic chauvinism of DN3D to the so-ironic-it's-genuine chauvinism on display in DNF.
i was excited to see duke come back but i think they tried to keep it to much like duke 3d. the graphics were alright but stuff like the animation just looked old.
The recharging health was dumb. The thing that really pissed me off is the sprint mechanic. Not just that is has the stupid sprint but it works like shit too.

Here's the problem the orignal Duke Nukem came out when gaming wasn't considered cool by the masses. Now gaming is cool and everyone does it, these people look at Duke Nukem Forever as they look at all the new games like Halo 3 and Black Ops (played both and beat both). There is no real thinking to those games it's just shot shot and you have a preset path. Well you do still have a pre set path like all FPS there is puzzles and things you'll have to solve. Like the original Duke Nukem game.
I loved playing this game, it was a great game when you don't die, seriously it's fucking easy as hell not to die, In the story, I mean you health heals crazy fast and sometimes you don't even die when the ego bar is whipped out. This game was relaxing.

Since Duke is openly mocking other fps-es the halo gameplay makes no sense at all actually, but this game did change hands hands more time then the Holsom twins so the schizophrenics nature of it is not surprising.
Gameplay still sucks tho, Duke can't truly be portrayed as a bad-ass when half the gameplay revolves around hiding like a pussy.
I know this is video old but just wanted to say he dosen't get shrunk for no reason when he comes out of the elavator he steps into that green stuff and shrinks.
Great intro, Good review, gotta say though I'm about 3 hours in and I'm really enjoying it. The crass humour made my day mainly because I'm so sick and tired of everything these days being so politically correct!

In my opinion (and a lot of my friends) it's a fun game, especially in the multiplayer mode. We have all bought the game and I haven't thought about it ever since. You don't like it? Don't play it!

The game was made for pc and will not be as of a nice experience on console... as you can't move around as it was intended to. If you like these kind of games like in the old days... doom1,2,3, quake 1,2,3,4, blood 1,2 and shadow warrior you're going to love this one! I've only played duke 3d not the previous games, but it was a really nice game so directly pre-ordered and got this one!
Duke Nukem Forever feels a bit outdated and some of the jokes seem to come from another millennium. Well, that's because they do! But still, Duke Nukem Forever is a fun game, despite the shortcomings.
I actually didnt get it. Why criticizing the game based on the fact that its quality doesnt scale with the production time. Wasnt it terribly obvious that it wouldnt be as technically great as other games, which had less production time but a much bigger budget? I grew up with Duke 1,2,3D.., and in my opinion Forever is a great extension of that francise.

Those of us old enough to remember all this shit when it actually happened (I suspect you were a baby at this point) will have seen several iterations of this game go through the mill and development halted for sections of the 14 year span, but to say 3 years is the only development time is a complete lie.
Disappointing :( after so long! I wouldn't blame you if you didn't make it past the 1st half hour...great review though! Hopefully the next game you review will be one you enjoy more! :D
Another great video Squid. I was never really a fan of Duke Nukem to begin with. It always seemed like the only thing that this franchise had going for it was it's dick and fart jokes. It's definetely a game I will never pick up.
I think renting this game was the best move you could have made for this game - it's been making a fair bit of money but is clearly just nothing more than a disappointing flop, which is such a shame after 14 years of development like you said! Much like Borderlands, I feel like its developers fall short of creating a game that you'll be able to play time and time again without getting a bit bored of its repetitiveness...
anyway duke shrank because the aliens put a shrinking thing outside the elevator doorway to piss people off because they have invaded earth for some reason.
anyway the game is great but considering i have been waiting for it since before i had any pubic hair its a bit of a shame the gameplay is so terrible.

The welcome back video, yay. Duke Nukem forever is a sad example of a game stuck in the past unfortunately. The FPS genre has moved on and duke is a stale character next to the Nathan Drake's and Ezio's of this world. I choose infamous 2 over this and I am very happy with the choice I made. Love the new logo and the intro was very funny. Great work as always and I can't wait to get involved with the site :D
I dont think it's as bad as people are making out, if anything it just proves how reliant peopel are on overlay cinematic stuff. It's a okay game, thats pretty much. Not half as bad as people make out, if anything people need to play a legit bad game such as Rogue warrior or Vampire Rain. Fun and silly that's it. And if we are to nit pack on a games details e.g. the hand brake on the toy car then you should also nit pick on titles like CoD which have jsut as much out of place things in them

@SquidGame Probably will at some point, just because it's Duke. I will most likely either rent it or wait until the price drops a lot. Just ordered the new Alice game though, and it comes with the first game too, so I'll be occupied by that for a bit hopefully :D
I'm glad I didn't hop aboard the pre order wagon as I'm pretty sure I'd have been just as disappointed as everyone else. I think I'll just borrow it or buy it when it's super cheap, because let's face it it's not going to take long to drop in price. :p

@SquidGame If you knew anything then you would know that that it wasnt produced for 14 years it was actually 3-4 years the other 10 years was trailer and finding a good graphics engine for it.so apperently you dont know a whole lot about the Duke Nukem franchise so you should really leave it to people that actually know what the fuck they are talking about

Those of us old enough to remember all this shit when it actually happened (I suspect you were a baby at this point) will have seen several iterations of this game go through the mill and development halted for sections of the 14 year span, but to say 3 years is the only development time is a complete lie.

Another great video Squid. I was never really a fan of Duke Nukem to begin with. It always seemed like the only thing that this franchise had going for it was it's dick and fart jokes. It's definetely a game I will never pick up.

I think renting this game was the best move you could have made for this game - it's been making a fair bit of money but is clearly just nothing more than a disappointing flop, which is such a shame after 14 years of development like you said! Much like Borderlands, I feel like its developers fall short of creating a game that you'll be able to play time and time again without getting a bit bored of its repetitiveness...
Looking forward to the next review!

anyway duke shrank because the aliens put a shrinking thing outside the elevator doorway to piss people off because they have invaded earth for some reason.
anyway the game is great but considering i have been waiting for it since before i had any pubic hair its a bit of a shame the gameplay is so terrible.

The welcome back video, yay. Duke Nukem forever is a sad example of a game stuck in the past unfortunately. The FPS genre has moved on and duke is a stale character next to the Nathan Drake's and Ezio's of this world. I choose infamous 2 over this and I am very happy with the choice I made. Love the new logo and the intro was very funny. Great work as always and I can't wait to get involved with the site :D

I dont think it's as bad as people are making out, if anything it just proves how reliant peopel are on overlay cinematic stuff. It's a okay game, thats pretty much. Not half as bad as people make out, if anything people need to play a legit bad game such as Rogue warrior or Vampire Rain. Fun and silly that's it. And if we are to nit pack on a games details e.g. the hand brake on the toy car then you should also nit pick on titles like CoD which have jsut as much out of place things in them

Good review. It's boring, clunky, looks terrible and has absolutely no redeeming features. Really, how can a shooting game not be fun??? I've never played an fps that's not fun before. They really did a number on this one.

Well kinda puts a downer on the games long.......long development but I guess we were not expecting anything amazingly good from Duke. Despite this though you have produced yet another fun and amazing review, keep it up, I can't wait to see your next vid :D

@SquidGame Probably will at some point, just because it's Duke. I will most likely either rent it or wait until the price drops a lot. Just ordered the new Alice game though, and it comes with the first game too, so I'll be occupied by that for a bit hopefully :D

Great vid dude, ive not got Duke yet but plan on buying it after i finish infamous 1 & 2, gotta play it just to see what its like after all this time. Not expecting too much and hopefully thats the right way too look at it because if i was hyped for it looks like i might be let down lol
