This is by far my all time favorite fish bait video.

cut bait works wonders, like using shad, or bluegill. Small carp chunked up works. Ive even caught them on stupid drum perch cut. My absolute favorite bait though for big cats is live bait. Hard to beat bluegill, shinners, smallcarp, bullhead. Im mostly after flathead but man big channels eat that stuff too. Live shad works great too fi you can keep them alive. Crawdads(crawfish) work good too but just dont use giant ones. Fish dont seem to like the big ones so much.

winter kill carp make great cutbait. frozen fish should work good too. I put a pound of shrimp in a glass peanut jar ful of veg oil. I let the shrimp disolve and then use the oil as a dip lure. I catfish in 3 totally different environments each has their favorite bait.

If u wanna catch cats u gotta take a drive up the Hudson to around the Ossining area where the river becomes all fresh water find a pier and set up Use worms or cut fish for the cats. If u just wanna go fishing you can lookup rodmans neck near city island and catch spring bass

I've caught a monster flat head, about 35 pounds (biggest one I ever cought so monster for me XD) on some cut blue gill. Trick is in summer time cut it 2 days before your trip and let it sit in a zip lock bag in the sun for about 2 days, but fresh cut works good too

the string is atlas magic thread -- you can do a search and see if something comes up near you - i got mine at gander mountain

Iv used crayfish that have died and sat for about a weeks time. Absolutely unbearable smelling. The cats almost hit it like a bass would hit a lure. Its pretty wild. Only thing is that they fly off the line easy so I need to find a way to tie them to the hook better.

Great videos. Would it be possible you could show on your next video on how you put the chicken livers (that you tie up) on a hook. Curious on how you put them on the hook and do you use circle hooks. The area i fish dosent allow boats on the water so in order for me to get out into the channel i need to use surf rods and throw the bait about 30 yards.Thanks,

Good video man! And for those who want to know if pantyhose with, the answer is yes. Just wrap the liver in a square of pantyhose and run the hook through as usual, but your hooks will become dull pretty quick. I think the elastic thread alone will do just fine.

what is a little easier than the netting is elastic thread at walmart you can get about 50 to 100ft for 2 or 3 dollars. you cut about two or three inchs stretch it start at the top and wrap it down when your done it will tighten back up and easily keep the bait on.

I use white sewing thread. Break off a piece about 16 inches long, pinch the end of the hook and the thread and start wrapping all around until you run out of thread. Before you cast bounce your fishing pole a couple times to make sure the liver is on there good. If it is, cast away. The thread will hold for several casts usually. Add more thread if you have to. Best thing about the thread is that it's cheap, easy to find, and doesn't take up much room in the tackle box.

for the gizard shads u cut them under the bottom pectoral fins twoards there gills and stick ur finger in there twords the mouth and there is a hard thing call a gizard :) they are great reall solid hold on the hook and real oily so great bait hope it helped

I use brim for cutbait, it being my bait of choice, you can control the size of the fish biting by the chunk of bait you use, lets say you put a 6oz chunk on when you get a bite you know it must be fairly descent fish to get that much bait in his mouth. The brim being a staple of the catfish diet is a logical choice for good bait.
