  • Julia Sugarbaker kind of reminds me of Claire Huxtable. Both are amazing characters.

  • This scene brings tears to my eyes!!! Awesome, acting, writing, and demonstration of sisterly love.

  • In the words of Steve Urkel "Rock my world, baby." Dixie Carter was one hell of a great actress.

  • Snap

  • This part was my favorite out of the ENTIRE series. Amazing!! I wish my sister and I loved each other enough.

  • She doesn't blink through the whole speech. Amazing.

  • That's why you don't fuck with Miss Sugarbaker.

  • My all time favorite episode of "Designing Women". She didn't stutter one time.

  • Love it

  • OMG,i just love this lol, you can't pay for people that can speak with such class, Almost there Julia, I just have to loosing the curing lol. I love it..........R.I.P.

  • Love this speech!!

  • DAME!

  • hitting a transformer?? lmfao

  • When I went to the Midnight Sun in San Francisco for the first time, this clip came up and every single man in that bar (except me and my friend) said this entire speech in unison!

  • yesssssss!!! miss hunty!

  • God Bless the South!!

  • one of the best performances in tv history

  • Spoken in the true style of a classy southern woman! We love and miss you Dixie!

  • See? How can you not love Julia Sugarbaker? The woman can put ANYBODY in their place real quick. I miss this show!

  • just so you will know and your children will someday know...I love Julia Sugarbaker!

    RIP Ms. Carter

  • Awesome!!! One of my favorite moments from the series.

  • The canned laughter is so awful. If it were filmed in front of a live audience there would have been laughter throughout that whole speech. What a shame they decided that laughtracks were suitable for this great show.

  • I don't think Julia's EVER been that mad!

  • Fierce.

  • one of the best scenes on television ever!!

  • I love Dixie Carter !

  • Best chewing out EVER!!!!

  • Woooo guurl Julia read her like cliffnotes. Quick fast and so eloquently.

  • Note to self: DON'T MESS WITH JULIA SUGARBAKER'S SISTER!!! Especially if you don't know if she is in the room. LOL

  • Love that woman! I sooo missed seeing her on tv.

  • Makes me proud to be a southerner! :)

  • rip dixie

  • i'm a southern belle :) yay me!!!!

  • dixie in real live held more conservative views than her character. however, it's safe to say she wasn't much of a conservative when it came to social issues.

every single time she give one of her sermons on liberty, equality & social justice she shined in a personal way that one with different convictions couldn't.

yes, it was acting talent too, but it was personally held values that really shined too!

she's what we'd like every southern belle to be & as talented as every actress should be!

  • @wntoply6 she has said in the past she didn't agree with all her rants but whenever she was given long speeches she got a chance to sing in exchange. ;)

  • I still can't believe Dixie is gone. What a Lady!

  • this scene doesn't really resonate if you're not into beauty pageants

  • @kranktank I'm not into beauty pageants at all, but I love a good put-down from Julia. She could destroy anyone with words. This put-down is especially touching because she is defending her sister, even though Suzanne doesn't think Julia thinks much of Suzanne's crowns.

  • OMG!! 334,972 views!! a classic Julia Sugarbaker scene!!

  • This show was so brilliant. :)

  • I LOVED me some Julia Sugarbaker!

  • Daaaaaaaaaaaamn,

  • god can this woman act!

  • I can't get enough of this! Damn fierce!

  • This is one of the best moments in television history!!!

  • Bravo!

  • ALRIGHT, JULIA!

  • This is my favoriye clip. May she RIP

  • i did this monologue for an audition and screwed it up because i was so nervous, but i still know it word by word!

  • oh i love julia!

  • lol i really thought she was going to beat her with that book when she lifted it in the air lmao

  • YOU DO NOT CROSS A SUGARBAKER WOMAN!!!!!!

  • I love Lolene version it is amazing

  • Check out Lolene's version in the 'Video Responses'!

  • Does anyone know fi this show is showing on any channel? I want this show back on the air!

  • That has got to be one of the fiercest moments in all of television history.

  • I did some research and found out had passed. Sorry to hear that. I loved her intensity in this clip! I really thought she was going to knockout Miss Georgia!

  • Julia, the Terminator, just terminated her.

  • Julia Sugarbaker is such a HBIC. My hero.

  • Julia Sugabaker was the classiest woman in TV during the run of that show. She was taken too soon, but we have her great acting and comedic timing. This is an example of her brilliance as a comedienne. The best.

  • PWNED!!!!!!!!!

  • Julia Sugarbaker, now thats a lady.

  • Does anybody have the Designing Women clip where Delta Burke is in a restaurant or something and runs around saying "EXCUSE ME" several times?

  • ah, i love love love this scene! :)

  • Truly a gem of a show. Dixie will forever be missed!

  • @starraider113 ..go enlist your sorry ass..

  • Maybe Obama should since he's spending this country into a hole thats not Bush's fault. He's spend 13 trillion dollars more than when Bush left him a 1 trillion dollar deficit. Obama spent 13 trillion, increasing the debt. Thats Obama's Fault, not Bush!

  • @3dartistguy And it's just sad thaty you have 4 year degree and you are still not qualified to work anything. You know why? Because you chose a degree that you THOUGHT you would be good at, but the truth is that you are just a bad Graphic Artist, which explains the unemployment. You're dreams crushed due to your inadequacy. Just get a real degree in a field that's on demand that requires not talent. Work hard for a Nursing Degree. That's a guaranteed job. 90K a year starting in CA.

  • Well maybe, JUST maybe it has soemthing to do wtih the fact that Im a White Male and employers must hire people based on their race...again, Im asked all the time by employers what my race and gender is whenever I apply for a job that i qualify for-why is that? Why are they asking? Its because of the racism of Affirmative Action, the stupid phillosphy of you liberals who seem to think that two wrongs make a right when they don't.

  • @starraider113 ..Enlist teabagging freak..You already know the drill....The word is "enlist"...

  • @starraider113 .Enlist your sorry ass you retarded idiot....land your cessna and find a recruiter..

  • @starraider113 ..midnightexpress coward teabagger, when are you gonna land your cessna, to the next army recruiting station and enlist your retarded ass you lying idiot...I don't wanna hear your bullshit you lying sack of crap..you are a waste of air and space..Didn,t your dad the vietnam,WWII,iraqi vet never hear of the word masturbation?? Maybe you dad the director of the CDC is afraid to tell you that you are adopted you teabagging freek.....Go enlist your retarded ass you punk...

  • Lolene sent me here =)

  • This is one of my favorites with Ms Carter.

  • LOL!!! Julia had her scared, just like everybody else she put in their place. I love Dixie's strong character.

    RIP Dixie!

  • LOVE this example of sisters... because that's what we do for one another. Congeniality isn't something we've ever aspired to anyway either... LOL. We're southern women... we enjoy iced tea and being friendly - when it's appropriate. BTW, for fun, bother a southern woman's family and/or children...She will sit that iced tea down, remove her smile & take you to school. Southern women can smile while kickin' your ASPIRATIONS. That's what makes us who we are. ;)

  • She was a spit-fire in that series. Played a Democrat, outspoken, but in real life she was a registered Republican. WHAT AN ACTRESS! She deserved an Oscar.

  • love

  • Still the best scene from the show.

  • I wonder if Dixie Carter liked tea..I think Ill have some now

  • RIP Dixie You are truly missed

  • This is my favorite moment in Designing Women history!!....Well i dont know...when Julia got her head stuck in the "fence" was pretty darn funny tooo!!

  • how the hell did this make the front youtube page? its crap

  • 2:22 AND KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE! G.I. JOEEEE!!!!!!

  • The Universe gained another star to watch over us.. RIP Dixie, you will be missed!

  • And I just realize this is exactly how these feeble minded, superrficial putz's are. The truth is you see yourselves in that blonde useless bitch and can't handle it

  • How the fuck did ya'll go from watching a clip from DW to abusing each other? It's ridiculous!! People like you are making the habitation of this planet utterly useless. Who wants to be slung with this bullshit in every corner? I don't and if you do, you need mental health. Just shut the hell up and enjoy the show. What fucking gives!?

  • Good Lord I came to watch a fun clip of Designing Women and you get the hate spewing left filling up another nonpolitical clip. Gosh how do some of you make through the day?

  • @zamusicza <---------- Typical ignoramace.

  • @splicedenergy What is my ignorance? What I said was completely true. We just wanted come here, enjoy a little Designing Women, maybe type a little homage to Dixie, and there you are spewing hate. Believe me, I'm much like Suzanne, how dare you. There is nothing typical about my ignorance.

  • @splicedenergy Because it was an ignorant question. You mean to say you can't figure out what's wrong with these hate mongers? And can't figure out how they make it? It's so obvious. They're nuts

  • lOve it, Love it...this is simply priceless.

  • I miss her !!!! so much!! damn so talented she was blessed and we are for knowing her

  • My god people!!! Just enjoy the damn clip. Dixie Carter was a Republican...so? I'm not a Republican, but I'm not about to spew politics on a CLIP OF DESIGNING WOMEN - and might I add, the best damn scene from the series! Enjoy, laugh, and remember Julia Sugerbaker and how well Dixie Carter played the character. Excuse all political ties, cause it ruins the flow!

  • Balls to the wall, no one could ever tell you how the cow ate the cabbage better than Dixie Carter. R.I.P

  • We've truly lost one of the classiest actresses to ever bless this earth!

  • i loved this show!

  • Oh man. OWNED.

  • Oh, and PS, I am a whitel male myself. And if you don't think that white guys still rule the word--look at Wall Street, the Military, Congress, etc....you are delusional. As if any white guy would trade their race and gender to become a black woman or a Mexican male...give me a break.

  • what's with all the sob story white guys discriminated against boo hoo hoo reverse discrimination rants on a clip of Designing Women?

  • What episode is this?

  • I can't stop watching this clip, Julia is so flippen amazing...She don't take no crap from A-NY-BO-DY!

  • I love this clip!!! xDDD

  • With the way Julia held that purse in the air it felt as though she was about 2 wrack her with it! U rule Dixie! We miss u. RIP Dixie.

  • rip dixie sweet dixie

  • You're amazing. You will be missed.

  • Thanks Dixie, you were the best!

  • This is just an example of how no one could put you in your place like Julia. lol

  • REST IN PEACE, DIXIE!!

  • you go girl

  • Because of this scene, that phrase "just so you will know -- and your children will someday know," became my favorite preface to *the* major point in any major rant when I was a kid.

And because of Dixie Carter's iconic performance of Julia Sugarbaker was so amazing, I wound up going on a lot of Julia-style rants as a kid, so I had a *lot* of opportunities to throw that line out there. XD

  • @howtofaint I used that phrase quite a bit myself, although I must admit I was an adult. Every time I did, the southern accent that I worked so hard to overcome would become more pronounced- you just cannot do Julia justice without the accent!

  • @pat412pear Darlin', don't let go of that accent. A true Southern accent is melodic, poetic, and Shakespearean. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

  • Even though its been years since this was on the air we never stopped watching and we never stopped loving you...you will be missed!

  • This has GOT to be one of TV's greatest moments! Rest peacefully, Dixie.

  • OMG I LOVED this episode! I LOVED it whenever Julia got pissed off!!! The classy way to tell someone off without even cursing!!! Brilliant! RIP Dixie Carter!

  • Gives me shills and tears.

Dixie was best, the show gave me such wonderful role models for strong independent women.

  • MUST DEATH TAKE all OF my LEADING LADIES ?? ;(

  • This has always been my favorite scence from Designing Women!!! Julia was always my favorite and NOBODY could have played her the way that Dixie did!!! She will be missed. R.I.P. Dixie Carter and thanx for the laughs!!!!

  • I will always remember this scene - I had a crush on Diie Carter since I was a little boy. Well spoken, stunning and intelligent. The perfect storm. Rest in peace Ms. Carter.

  • We'll miss you, Dixie! There will never be another. Rest In Peace!

  • her iner beauty outshoned her outer beauty, THANK YOU ! condolences to the family, RIP.

  • Remember when Dixie was talking about how people in the South don't hide their crazy kinfolk but bring them right down into the living room for everyone to see..Or Suzanne's line about fat folks in Atlanta buy their fabric at Georgia Tent and Awning. Deathless prose. only a Southern born and bred son or daughter could love. Damn Yankees - I didn't find out they were two different words until I was 12. My Mama use to tell me, You don't want to play with them, son, they're not like we are.

  • We have lost yet another true valiant Dame....she and Lucy and Vivian vance will round out a fabulous circle! Cant wait to see them all one day!!!!!

  • i am really heart over head so sad for mr. holbrook. she was amazing, and i know they were so in love. gives us all hope, really....at least something to aim for. look on the bright side...i'm sure mrs. c wouldn't have it any other way. ok, now i can go bawl my eyes out! lol.....goodbye dixie. you were something else, and will always be in memorium. me and half my friends can't wait to meet you on the other side. god bless you, sweetie.
