  • used 2 play this cassette on my 1987 sanyo boom box, smoke 1 hit dug-out's and plug in my radio shack head-phones, and just drift off into pure bliss (god is this a amazing song)

  • love that plastic guitar....the firm rocks....

  • starting at 3:25 , what the fuck is page doing, that sounds so interesting

  • what year is this?

  • @RumbleFiish I think this is the ARMS concerts which were like 1983. Jimmy is not off heroin quite yet. There's an interview with Jimmy and Roy Harper from the following year on YouTube and the difference in his looks is pretty astonishing. He looks 15 years younger in that interview than he does here.

  • whoa... his guitar is strapped higher than usual

  • By the way, from the looks of Jimmy - which many people have commented on - this is from the ARMS tour, when he still had a certain issue going. In the Firm era, he's noticeably heavier and more robust and healthy. That's my opinion as a long-time fanatic, but apologies to the poster if I'm wrong.

  • Saw Jimmy in Chicago on the 1988 Outrider tour - electrifying performance, and this song was the highlight for me. 6th row, I saw him like watching this video. It was such a transcendent moment. Fans of Jimmy's Eastern-influenced acoustic work might a vid I just posted: "Rosetta West - Yallah." Hope you like it.

  • man Jimmy looks so sick here I am glad he is well now . Great song btw. I cant believe that sound comes out of that old Dano

  • Can someone please post the sudio version of this song?

  • 05:25 SWAN SONG :D

  • Some parts from thissong reminds me to some intros for Kashmir in 1977 :D

  • Good camera work. Really nice stuff. Page WORKED hard to get through this night. Arms painfully thin, still rose to the task. Much kudos for the rest of the band. Rogers? Hall of Fame lock. Anything less is THEFT!

  • @wikkid61 Yes, watching Pagey when he was in this condition makes me want to weep. So thin, so ill. But hearing him is always wonderful. We are blessed that he is still with us and healthy :)

  • What the world need is JIMMY PAGE.

  • Jimmy fits only with Led Zeppelin

  • @cretafarm2000

You do realise that he's written for a ton of bands and artitst as well as started out as a studio musician, right? Zeppelin was only one of his MANY endeavours in music.

He would strongly disagree with your statement.

  • @cretafarm2000 No way, hear his songs with David Coverdale, Robert Plant (still not Zeppelin), The Yardbirds or solo work. Some of the best are Shake My Tree, Pride and Joy (Coverdale) The Only One, Most High(Robert Plant) Think About It, White Summer(Yardbirds). Also, he made a lçot of good instrumentals after he left the band.

  • Jimmy page never sold out and cut his hair and stuff in the 80s. thats what i love about him. That and he is the best guitarist ever. and he is adorable

  • all great!l Let us not forget SRV!

  • El mas grande........

  • mmmmmmmm...yum yum's ...luv this video !!!!

  • I'm not saying he's a bad singer, but it was ruined for me when he started. Jimmy's song writing is absurdly genius. And this is coming from one as well. I don't know if I could ever come up with something like that. Pure brilliance.

  • I haven't heard this in so long, what an awesome song, and collaboration of fantastic artists...

  • @CDillyDilly Me neither. I was listening to Physical Graffiti and this song reminded of the fact that this tune was originally called SWAN SONG in its inception. Sweet reincarnation. PS. I own the LP. lol!

  • Greatly underrated appreciated album for sure.....Pagey was still awesome but very obviously strung out during this time period. He was extra gaunt even for him, his eyes were hollow and unfocused, even his facial expressions seemed odd and forced. Glad he got thru it all, by Outrider(ANOTHER vastly underrated album) he seemed a lot better. Wish he'd do some more work!

  • I forget where I read it, but this intro piece was actually for a ZeP tune,

but he didn't use it (obviously)

Page Wasn't the same with The Firm as he was w/Zep...

but that was a good thing.

It was a Different band & sound,

but Still Jimmy was the Man....

  • @murdock6107 Yeah, i think the title was swansong. anyways, this album was great! saw them in cleve oh, 85 loved it!!!!! to me jimmy is the best of all time! P.

  • @MegaZephead Hmm..could be...I don't remember (burned a Lot of Brain cells in the past...lol)

Somewhere in My archives,...I have a cassette recording of a

YardBirds Live album from maybe 1967 or 68, that Jimmy did some gtr Intros to stuff that was later on the 1st & or 2nd Zep Lp's.

The Recording Is kinda Primitive..But Still Heavy as Hell for the time !

  • Please someone make a full song of the guitartab for midnight moonlight theres nothing online please !

  • The fact is people, that Page got back out and did what he does best after Zep disbanded. Think about it.. If he quit giving us music, either good or bad, what what we do? We'd all cry and beg on our hands and knees for him to come back. My best comment I'll ever put on YouTube is this: It's music. Shut it and enjoy it.

  • great band saw them in april 85 cleveland! great show!!!!!!!!

  • THE COMBO OF THE FIRM IS TRULY FANTASTIC

  • This was a great outlet for Jimmy and created great songs you just got to get past zepplin it was a different time

  • @laddimm Its funny you should say that, since this song was originally titled Swan Song, and was the unreleased Zeppelin song that inspired the name for their record label

  • This is 100% Jimmy Page creativity, good original rock and roll and of course with a great singer P Rodgers and untouchable team.

  • This is sad if you think about it. Jimmy's entire world was and is Led Zeppelin. he created the band from the ruins of the Yardbirds, and made unarguably the worlds greatest rockband of then and now and the future. He may not say it, but you all must know and see it and feel it here. He belongs with Led Zeppelin. That is his most suitable place, though he has tried other outlets. When Led Zeppelin ended, and a part of the band died, alot of Jimmy died with it inside and out.

  • @JustinPierce1226 I disagree. I mean I understand what you are saying and why. But we all reach certain pinnacle peaks and highs in our career, the peaks and valleys, whether you are a guitar player or a doctor, or a restaurant manager. The ups and downs of life. You can't hit grand slams all the time. Still he is very much alive, just look at the performance of "For Your Life" at the O2 concert in 2007 with Jonesy, Plant, JB on YouTube. Good stuff. Who knows what the future will bring.

  • @Boski391 Well yeah. Here me out: I am for sure not saying he is bad at this point. But when you hear him whail on a guitar, it is hard not to 'feel' that Zeppelin aura that surrounds him. So that is why I felt the Zeppelin arena fits him better. It was like the Page/Plant tour. He was a machine, on fire, while playing with Plant. It is like he feeds off Plants energy and goes into super Jimmy mode lol. But yeah the O2 arena: Zeppelin setting. He rocked down the house.

  • @JustinPierce1226 I got you. Zeppelin (BTW my favorite band) is so hard to duplicate. It was and is a combination of four extremely talented and multi dimensional people. It is like the planets aligned just at the right time, and we were all lucky enough to be there to see them preform over the decade they were around. Zeppelin = great fucking music!

  • Wow! I so dig this tune! I'm surprised I never saw or herd this before!

  • Wow! I so dig this tune!

  • I don't know what performance this is, but it's not The Firm. If you look in the back ground, which they don't show much of, that's not drummer Chris Slade and bass player Tony Franklin

  • @lucaslanddotcom

The Drummer is Simon Philis.. Drum G

  • if guitar is a religion Jimmy Page is the god...

  • call me shallow he's cool-looking.,jerry'd be laughting anyway.

    (&) i'm out of here.

  • That is the love of my life right there... I love you Jimmy Page...<3

  • Midnight Moonlight fucking asshole!!! REPOST!

  • Wow first time that I've seen Jimmy wear that guitar that high!

  • @whipit4me you should look up the video from when we was 14 or 15 years old.

  • oh my God! some water for him please!! i love this man, he's legend!

  • what guitar is he using?

  • @NabeeltheThird a danelectro. go to guitar center's website, you'll see it .

  • I freaking love this song..Its Jimmy having a chance to go nuts...And Paul singing his lyrics and he sounds so much better in this song..Sorry..I have my favorite songs but this has always been one of those long lost secrets

  • What kind of guitar is JP playing here? It's not his "standard" Les Paul.

  • @ofthecosmos The guitar is a Danelectro 59-DC. :D!

  • swan song could have been a monstrous song. check it out. bonham and JPJ really add something to Page's guitar tracks that you're listenting here

  • I have sen Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and many other great rock guitarists but in my mind Jimmy Page is the greatest of all rock guitarists..

  • @Ruraljohn How i envy you! I often ask to me: why am I only fifteen?

  • Jimmy is god ! What a masterpiece ! Paul Rodgers-the best vocalist in rock. Jimmy-the best guitarist in rock. What an amazing combination. The foolish radio stations that overlooked the Firm. Check out Deep Tracks on satellite radio . They play real music! The Firm, Page with Black Crows, Cactus, Robin Trower, Rory Gallagher, Be Bop Deluxe, Free, Zappa. Real music!

  • Jimmy is god ! What a masterpiece !

  • I sing paul rogers songs with bands from time to time this being my favorite I was kissed by the lead singer of bad comapany ( not paul rogers) and asked to go back stage but had a party to go to afterwards so I didn't my life dream is to meet with him and sing either this song or seagul god I love this guys soul!!!!

  • absolutely brilliant composition and execution on DADGAD!

  • Oh how I can't wait for Page's new album to come out!

  • Page was working on this as a LedZep song for what I understand were years.

The working title in fact was "Swan Song".

But the first time I heard it was in the late 80's on a camping trip in Alaska.

To call it a spiritual experience would be an understatement.

I would purchase it again, but the record company's censorship has irked me.

  • Is this the Firm or is this from the ARMS concert? I don't see Chris Slade nor Tony Franklin.

  • Is this the firm or is thisw from the ARMS concert? I don't see Chris Slade nor Tony Franklin.

  • Jimmy Page is beautiful......

  • @RockDreams1000

    Yeah, even with heroin drool?

  • Paul Rogers resembles Roger Daltry in so many ways. Maybe that's on purpose (Plant copied Daltry a little too).

  • Jimmy Page no tocaba la guitarra. Hacía el amor con ella.

  • Anybody who dislikes Jimmy Page dislikes music and has no taste. Period.

  • @JustinPierce1226

that's a pretty extreme statement, a very rigid way of looking at Page's work. There is no critical perspective with blanket statements like this.

    I love Page!

  • @pachacutti Yeah thats true. Lol! Ok. If anybody can say he has no talent, they obviously know little about music and what talent really is. Talent is not being able to reproduce the same sound a famous musician has. Anybody can do that with practice. Talent is being able to play something, add your own style into it, and making it work the way you see it should. Not with guitar licks, but with feel and soul. Your inner self is the only one with unlimited talent. It depends if you use it or not

  • this is just so bad

  • That guy is Paul Rodgers formerly of Free , Bad Co. and also Queen . One of Rock's Greatest vocalist and frontman .

  • Jimmy Page is the greatest guitar player of all time, and Mother Nature will protect you from werewolves.

  • I used to wish that Plant was singing (well i still do) but this guy is very good in his own way

  • Soft rock ftw

  • Legal esse projeto,o Rodgers canta bem e encaixa no estilo do som de Page.

  • Jimmy had to sit for the first half of the song because he had a major fucking boner over his own playing!

  • yummmmmyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Paul Rodgers and Jimmy Page WHOOO!

  • Ok now imagine this with Plant JPJ and Bonham. pure epicness

  • @yamty175 No, this is from the Firms first tour.

  • @da324 Like I said earlier this is the ARMS concert. I don't care what it says at the top of the page. Thanks.

  • @yamty175 You're right, this wasn't the Firm's 1st tour. This was played during one of the shows that followed the 1st ARMS show at the Royal Albert Hall, I think there 8 or 9 of them. That's where the Firm were born, but this is not the 1st show that's on DVD. Thanks.,..

  • @da324 Approx. what year?

  • Comment removed

  • @MastaChief117 mid 80's

  • @da324 ineresting. Plant claimed to be drug free in 84 i believe but he appears most stoned...

  • @MastaChief117 Do you mean Jimmy Page? Robert Plant is not in this video. Page was trying to kick his habit around this time I think.

  • @da324 Yeah i did. Alright

  • @yamty175 Correction. This is the ARMS concert.

  • @yamty175 Correction. This is the ARMS concert.

  • What a hotty. lol

  • @bluelibra65 ... " midnight moonlight what's up with that!" LOL

  • @zed0469 SEX!

  • This song reminds me of Achilles Last Stand.

    Great song.

  • @Zeon707 the beginning reminds me of the rain song actually, the lyrics are kind of stairway to heaven-ish too

  • A touch of white summer in his jam :-)

  • this song will make you feel better...

  • I love this song! but when I hear the "demo" of Swan Song I remain without words!

Zep where just so fucking great !! why didn't they put this song on a zep album !?!

    another Page mystery... :)

  • wow !!!!!wish i was there....................

  • Tengent, no offense (and I love Jimmy as well), but alternate tunings and beautiful chords are not exclusive to Page. Listen to Adrien Legg, Leo Kottke, Preston Reed...or in the rock vein, Pete Townshen, Paul Kantner (check out Have You Seen The Saucers), Jorma Kaukonen...there are lots of them.

But again, I love Page, and THIS is epic.

  • Jimmy was truly a virtuoso of the guitar. When have you ever heard anyone else play those beautiful chords in any sort of guitar tuning?

  • The intro sounds like the rain song

  • paul and jim are two of my favs and in the same band? GTFOH !! they both make performing look effortless; such pros.

  • this was supposed to be the swan song

  • ...." She said take me from this wilderness, I want to be where I won't be lonely. Take me from this wilderness, I want to be where I can see. Take me from this wilderness, i want to be where I cane be free!.... Great lyrics

  • do i hear a bit of black mountainside at 4:27????

  • yes. And, this whole song is based around "Swan Song" , which was written around the time of Kashmir

  • @indyjonz

Yeah I know he put some of this song

    into WS/BMS but I didn't expect the

    other way round

  • I think this song was supposed to be an intro into "Kashmir"

  • @Matthew9444 Yes! Very yes! This song is amazing but im sure it would have been better as the Swan Song. RIP Bonham

  • Jimmy Page is the greatest guitar player of all time.

    And he has great hair.

  • Comment removed

  • @PsychedelicPie7 well, that's just it,isn''t it - not only is he so damn good but he's so fucking cool-looking. i think that there's a tendency to say so what abt how a guitarist look's or what do's it matter?. it really is different when it come's to page. even at these hard moment's in his life. he looked as fine when he was sick (again) as clapton do's well. i wonder if non-believer's" love" their "best" guitar player's as much as we love Jimmy Page. fuk em anyway.

  • @JohnAllanification well even if it didn't matter that what a musician looks like, he's an etnertainer and thats part of being an entertainer looking good, o in some circumstances just different. Anyway who wants to see some 800 pound overweight shit onstage? I saw the greatful dead one time when jerry garcia was still alive, and honestly I literally heard someone screaming at the stage, "EAT ANOTHER TWINKY JERRY!"

  • dewyduster it is also a song zeppelin were going to release on the album that followed in through the outdoor but it was never recorded because Bonzo had died and Zeppelin from there had broken up. This was origionally to be a song called swan song. The other song that was supposed to be on tht led zeppelin album tht was never recorded was a coverdaile page song called "Shake My Tree." And when you hear plant sing it in the page and plant tours they change the lyrics a little. Suspicous lol.

  • Oh, How I love Page and Rogers ... always love Zeppelin, but the Firm was something very special.

  • nice to work in some White summer Jimmy!

  • As a longtime Zeppelin fan I was really prejudiced against this when it first came out. In hindsight, this song is one of Page's greatest masterpieces. And what lyrics!

  • ...."she keeps her secrets with her eyes, like a moon behind silver cloud...she holds my memory with her smile, am dreaming now, spinning round....let her take it all away. Every time I turn around I know that she is there, every time I turn she is every where."....Midnight Moonlight

    Brilliant and moving!

  • is that Simon Phillps on drums?

  • yes, he´s.

  • their songs were underrated cause of their past, none of the material was as good as zep or free but still I wouldn't mind seeing a Firm reunion today!

  • @kidzsanlorenzo

I loveeeeeeeeed The Firm and still very much do today. Paul Rogers can still blow and let's face it Jimmy will be heard from 6ft under us all after he is gone. Great calaboration, would love to see live, oh how I wish:)

  • maybe 1 day.. Never say Never :) plus Jimmy is making a new album but no one knows with who ????

  • Ok, around 2:13, is it just me or does Paul Rogers look like Jerry Seinfeld?

  • @Fritzo2162

LOL that is so funny, I was thinking the same EXACT thing a couple of days ago. And have you seen the vids of that 2006 concert in Japan? He totally looks like Chuck Norris in those. The amazing shape-shifting Paul Rodgers.

  • @wasup23tube WTF are you talking about. Paul Rodgers is a legend without a freaking doubt. What did he bang your old lady or something ??

  • @purpledude603 they're both rock gods & hell, i'd b honored if they banged my old lady!!

  • @purpledude603 you obviously love men.

  • @Gnomepaste How do you come up with that ignorant conclusion ????

  • @purpledude603 TAKE IT EASY HOME SLICE YOUR GETTING UP IN MY FACE YOU MUST BE COLORED BECAUSE YOU TAKE THINGS TOO SERIOUSLY

  • @Gnomepaste Colored, another ignorant conclusion, huh. I only asked why you would say that, hardly up in your face, being a little over defensive aren't you ??

  • @purpledude603

who the f--k is Paul Rogers?

  • @vracan I don't know who th f--k Paul Rogers is but Paul Rodgers is the guy singing on this video and the singer of Bad Company and about the best rock singers ever.

  • @purpledude603

Sorry i thought we were talking about guitarists here!

Personnally as far as singers goes it's Brad Delp of Boston the best for me!

  • @purpledude603 Oh, boy, did that make me laugh. Thanks!

  • The album version is terrible because of the fretless bass and faulty mixing but this version is fantastic. Much heavier.

  • That's your opinion. This version is amazing, but the recorded version is great as well with the female backup singers coming in on the chorus & the coda. A VERY HIGHLY UNDERRATED ALBUM !!

  • No wonder he sings so high with those tight jeans.

Joking apart, I love this song. Itunes, get your act together

  • Adding" insult to injury" - last time I checked, ITUNES only had 2 songs from the Firms first album available! THAT !! is insulting! but typical! If I was Page or Rodgers, I would make a squabble about it! Hard to find those 2 albums unless it's a used CD shop, & even then its a "crapshoot"!

  • @hazor777 I only have them on vinyl never seen them on cd. I wish i could get a copy!

  • VINYL is WIN!! -- Especially now since you can get a "converter" to record from vinyl to cd ( even mp3 ) GO FORTH & ROCK !!!

  • zune marketplace has both albums in full/

  • thanks for the tip, you dont have to have a Zune player to download the tunes right? They are downloadable for IPOD's ?

  • RHINO records re-released the ARMS video like 11 yrs ago, I sure would like to get a copy myself...

  • Thanks for the awesome vid. Too bad the pricks at WMG wont let the masterpiece studio version on youtube.

  • saw the firm on both tours. awsome times. lazer pyramid. freezing to death for tickets goods mems too lmao :)

  • I envy you.I was 12 when they came to Jacksonville for that tour & wanted so bad to go, but was too young.I know it was an awesome show.IMO The Firm's 2 albums were both excellent, shame it didnt get the commercial attention they deserved, but hey, thats the music biz-all about the "bottom line". If you havent already, check out Paul Rodgers tribute album to Muddy Waters, it's great!

  • Simply a beautiful song that grew out of a prior Led Zeppelin song : Swan Song.

  • in the zeppelin days, jimmys guitar used to hang alot lower.

  • that cause he had back problems around that time think about it a heavy les paul slung low, not to mention all the leaning over he did during solos, but it's gotten better because if you see him with coverdale he's wearing it low, and in It Might Get Loud he has it low.

  • Well also, Page was still battling heroin(withdraw causes back pain) during the ARMS tour. You can see on the clips here on youtube -esp. the Stairway performance, he was not playing well (it couldve been just that night, I dont know)-there was an article in RS during the ARMS tour, & the writer hinted that Clapton & the others were getting a little fed up with Page's lack of enthusiasm & professionalism, thank God he got through it, b/c I love me some Jimmy Page !!

  • @hazor777 eh, he was sitting down because he used to sit down with his Danelectro on White Summer/Black Mountain side. Also in 77 he did white summer/black mountain side sitting and went right into kashmir where he jumped out of the seat.

  • Excellent video, but this isn't The Firm(notice Simon Phillips on drums). This was when Rodgers/Page were putting a band together. This footage is from a short tour called 'The British Are Coming' (Beck, Clapton, Wood, etc.) to benefit fellow musician Ronnie Lane/A.R.M.S. (Lane suffered multiple sclerosis). Page's set was excellent here in Dallas, he even did some stuff from Deathwish 3 & acoustic Zep. Also, Page, Beck & Clapton (Yardbirds) on the same stage playing Shapes of Things. Great show!

  • This is an ARMS concert right? That tour was done before the Firm released their 1st album,if Im correct.

  • correct, indeed.
