A pretty good list for the most part, but too many other cartoons should have been mentioned. Batman (1992), Tiny Toons, animaniacs, Freakezoid, Rocko's Modern Life, Avatar the Last Airbender, Justice league Unlimited, The Jetsons, TMNT (2003), Dragon Ball series, Full Metal alchemist, Berserk, Garfield, Ducktales, Fist of the North Star, etc.
@FREAKFANATIC I don't think that Avatar The Last Airbender would count for this list for the simple fact that it came out too soon. This list of the 100 Greatest Cartoons aired in channel 4 back in 2004. I'm not sure what year the Avatar cartoon first came out but most likely it was after this special came out!
The Lion King IS my absolute favorite considering cartoons, but Simpsons should have ended #2 on my list so no biggie. Still disappointed that no Animaniacs were in top 10, let alone top 100! It also astounds me that an all english group of voters would miss the great French/English cartoon of 1993; the Animals of Farthing Wood!
South Park higher then Lion King? pffft lame. South Park yea you can remember highlighted episodes but at least with Disney you can make awesome humor you can quote again and again.

I feel bad, and I have always tried, but I have never been able to get into Simpsons. I think its because it isn't on any channels that I pay atention to. I have pretty much watched the same channels all my life and kind of skipped all the channels that are low in the number count, like down there in local channels not ratings. But I really want to get into it, but I keep hearing the new ones suck. I 'm sad that I didn't get to enjoy the good Simpsons. :(
After you've watched South Park, it's hard to really love the simpsons again without all the swearing, blood and violence that we've all (most people, anyway) come to love from South Park. Btw, I think it should've come 2nd, but that's just my opinion.
(The Simpsons is still a great show and all, but compared to South Park...well...definately not my favourite! XD)

@MolotovKid2 We had it and it was aired around the same time it was in America. I can only imagine it was because of the time this list was compiled (mainly by adults) and they have nostalgia for old 80's shows. A lot of shows on this list are complete crap when you look at them now (turtles, he-man, thunder cats, Transformers) poorly writtenn poorly animated. B:TAS only got better as an adult because I could apperciate the plots more which are deep and well written. I Just amazing.

Can't Believe there's No Batman: The Animated series , Neon genesis:Evangelion(Which made A hugh Impact outside Animation)& X-men, which were better than Half of this list.
But they can have Animations like Legend of the overfiend/Dungeons & Dragons.
I used to love tom & jerry when I was a child, but watching it now makes me kind of sick, when all it's about is inflicting pain to eachother in different (allthough creative) ways. I remember one scene where Tom was allmost drowned in a swimmingpool, NOT funny :/
I dont think south park deserves to be on this list at all, let alone at number 3. Not because of the content or the controversy, but because the show had no plotline. Every episode was exactly the same. But i guess the same could be said about Tom and Jerry. I guess it comes down to personal preference. I hate south park.

This list is pretty good but its not complete! What about cartoons like X-MEN(90's)! The Real GHOSTBUSTERS(80's)! BATMAN(1992)! SPIDER-MAN(90's)! The Adventures of JOHNNY QUEST! DRAGON BALL Z!! ect..... These cartoons I mention should easily be in this list. Other than that I do agree with THE SIMPSONS being number 1. But I disagree with TOM and JERRY being number 2. SOUTH PARK should be number 2! If THE SIMPSONS never existed, SOUTH PARK would be the greatest cartoon of all time!!

A pretty good list for the most part, but too many other cartoons should have been mentioned. Batman (1992), Tiny Toons, animaniacs, Freakezoid, Rocko's Modern Life, Avatar the Last Airbender, Justice league Unlimited, The Jetsons, TMNT (2003), Dragon Ball series, Full Metal alchemist, Berserk, Garfield, Ducktales, Fist of the North Star, etc.

This list of the 100 Greatest Cartoons aired in channel 4 back in 2004. I'm not sure what year the Avatar cartoon first came out but most likely it was after this special came out!

The Lion King IS my absolute favorite considering cartoons, but Simpsons should have ended #2 on my list so no biggie. Still disappointed that no Animaniacs were in top 10, let alone top 100! It also astounds me that an all english group of voters would miss the great French/English cartoon of 1993; the Animals of Farthing Wood!

I feel bad, and I have always tried, but I have never been able to get into Simpsons. I think its because it isn't on any channels that I pay atention to. I have pretty much watched the same channels all my life and kind of skipped all the channels that are low in the number count, like down there in local channels not ratings. But I really want to get into it, but I keep hearing the new ones suck. I 'm sad that I didn't get to enjoy the good Simpsons. :(

After you've watched South Park, it's hard to really love the simpsons again without all the swearing, blood and violence that we've all (most people, anyway) come to love from South Park. Btw, I think it should've come 2nd, but that's just my opinion.
(The Simpsons is still a great show and all, but compared to South Park...well...definately not my favourite! XD)

I can only imagine it was because of the time this list was compiled (mainly by adults) and they have nostalgia for old 80's shows. A lot of shows on this list are complete crap when you look at them now (turtles, he-man, thunder cats, Transformers) poorly writtenn poorly animated. B:TAS only got better as an adult because I could apperciate the plots more which are deep and well written. I Just amazing.

2) It was a poll voted for by the British public. An ideology (not idealogy) is the dominant ideas of a ruling group. What about The Simpsons makes you think it's ideological? If anything, much of The Simpsons' humour is a result of counter-hegemonic messages and jokes.

So my opinion isn't just based on opinion, it's also based on how things should be look. It's not that I dislike Family Guy, it just has done what the Simpsons or South Park has done. As for your list of favorite cartoons, that's totally fine that you like them more than Simpsons, but the Simpsons have been on air for 20 YEARS, that's huge.
