So if you came up with a song and it totally sucked, but if Timbaland came along and made it better, and was making millions off your music, and didn't pay you a penny for it, you would be fine with that???
timberland is a stealer! He should go to jail and pay the finnish producer! FUCK U TIMBERLAND YOUR VERSION IS SHIT..... and your music sucks balls. TIMBERLAND = 100% a gay fag who sit in his room and stealing music and play runescape....
I'm not as shocked as many of his fans that he clearly ripped this from somebody. Many producers have many other things in mind than music which distract them from creativity. The two video responses above tell tell the truth about the difference between sampling and stealing. Even Timberland himself tells you the difference even though he claims that it's from a video game. The court will ask, "who produced the music in that game and what game is it".
the first file being played is a midi file... you can download them for most songs... most midi files played in media players all sound the same because the multitracks all use the same synth to reproduce the original song... where as in any production program you can listen to each midi piece as a different instrument...(this is basics to audio production 101) the only similarity's in both the songs is the high hats replicated within the midi file...
(which you will probably find in 10's of thousands of other songs / its just a varied level hat) timbo using the actual single synth output of a midi file he made for his song... is genius... no plz stop hating

sounds different to me!! has a hint of the same song but not entirely the same. i cant see he has done anything wrong. depends if the other guy got his material copywritten.
You dont have to get your material copywritten, as soon as you produce a piece of work whether it be a kid scribbling on a napkin or an artist on a10ft canvas, you are automatically covered.
Hahahaha...this is hilarious. Anyways, it's exactly the same exact chiptune...loaded into Timbaland's SIDStation, emulated exactly the same manner---then he just altered the volume/panning and put his own high hats over it. I think you need to look around the internet more for proof, because you're embarrassing people with minds. = \ Later!

what the fuck are u planning to do about it? lol ur just a dude at home yelling at ppl on youtube. ur not gonna do anything not like this comment is gonna change anything.
i nominate your comment to the "stupidest reply ever award"! zerocorpse gives you a definition of what sampling is, and that is your reply??? well, at least you made me laugh :D
This is possibly one of the greatest comments I've ever seen on the definition of the word sampling. I commend you sir. As a breakcore artist, I sample A LOT of stuff. Drums, Vocals, Instruments etc. But I almost NEVER leave it as is. I always slice it up, and mangle it in some way. What Timbaland did here is a disgrace to the music industry.
I agree, his fat behind has no talent and he is being called a good musician when there are musicians such as yourself and countless others with real talent who are being shunned only because these fool is eating up most of the musical space, it's about time we dethrone Timbaland and send that thief packing
I agree, did you know that bafoon 9th Wonder trying to justify sampling says the original artist form the 70's he stole the music from should be proud of them since since is hard lol, Sampling is theft!!!!! P Diddy mad a living off of stealing
@ZeroCorpse I don't know how many times we have to repeat it. Are people that dumb that they don't understand what is stealing a creation and passing it as you own?
@PlanetarySyndicate Oh boy... YES, he is sampling, but he is also stealing... When TL samples your song and make a remix, then it is called Timberland vs PlanetarySyndicate and you also get the money and credit. But when TL takes YOUR own made PlanetarySyndicate song 1:1, mixes a beat to it (and every child can do that) and get millions with it and even didnt call you to give you your money for making this song he is stealing YOUR SONG while sampling/copying it 1:1... Wake up...
Fuck Timbaland he's fuckin wack fuckin jackin bitch loser dat cant make his own shit...Sampling yea right.....Like some other video I saw......Its like he cut a page off a magazine and called it his own for a company he works at.....Thats stealing fuckin bitch ass

Getting credit is overrated any way, such a primitive concept. Same as money, it can buy about any thing in this world, but except food, friendship electronics, the world has so little to offer.
And depending on your interpretation, it can even buy the middle one.
Yes Hip Hop is made from samples like all other big hits. But what they did is credit the original writers. I'm sure Stevie Wonder got money from Coolio Gangsta's Paradise and he was credited aswell. There is a risk that we all take when we sample other material if we don't credit them and must face the consequences if there is an issue. EVERYONE PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS BEFORE YOU START PRODUCING OFF RIPPED MATERIAL.
By the way this isn't aimed at you but my opinion to the answer you gave.
Also a similar thing happened with Zombi Nation by Kernkraft 400 when they ripped the idea from a C64 game called Lazy Jones. Originally unlicensed, they paid an undisclosed fee. They didn't sample it, just taken the melody and had to pay out for it. Timbaland can say "it's from a computer game frikin jerk" but so was Zombi Nation. Computer game music is not exempt from being real music because it's part of a game. If that's the case then all current game music can be ripped without consequences
If anyone still thinks that what Timbaland did was fine, take a look at what Vanilla Ice did with Ice Ice Baby. He "just taken the bassline" from Queen & David Bowie - Under pressure and released it as his own without crediting them. This changed later when they went to press charges. I guess that you have got to have money to protect your music art in this world. For those unfortunate to fund court proceedings, name and same is the best we can do.

Still, he made all the drum beat, mixed the melody nicely, so it sound good with the beat. So I think it's ok he sell them in his name, but he should have named the original artist somewhere
but how Premier did it was different. he didn't rip an entire song. and he gave credit. he still did original stuff with the song. what timbaland has probably done here is use expensive studio equipment to make old songs sound new, fresh and timbaland-beat-like.
@tarbash995 if he gave credit then why did the original composer sue for stealing the songs? I swear Timbaland fanboys are so damn stupid. You stay on his balls and suck his dick like it gives you life.
Actually, I don't even know Timbaland or any of his songs. I will be honest. I have never sucked him before, either. Please tell me what it was like so I can write a book about it...
Think of it as a cover song. Nobody calls anyone a thief for making a cover song from another artist. In fact usually that is a sign of respect.
The only reason this could be considered 'stealing' is that he didnt try to get permission from the original author. But from the comments here people seem to think he released this and claimed it as 100% his own work, which he didnt do.
all producers sample i had never payed attention to it intil timberland added his twist to it. its a nice beat that the world now gets a chance to hear it. it still takes a great ear to make something current and mainstream . just pay the man and keep making great music
This is what Hiphop is! I don't like Timbaland, but he sure as funk isn't the first to sample. I would guess that every rapper you have ever heard of has!
I'm a big addict of "tracker" music, and thanks to your video, I was able to locate the Janne Juni's music. After downloading and listening to Tempest/ Janne Suni's music I found out why "Do It" was so addictive....
Sample or not, how can it be explained he says that the ringtone is original and specifically made for phones if the whole bit is identical with a previous song. That's not very original.
And if he would have the permission, why is he being sued by the finnish song maker and the norwegian C64 version maker (who by the way did the version with an actual permission).
If he is as big and as good as everyone seems to think, wouldn't he have the talent to create something new, own and not copied?

Why are you people sh**ing Timbo?? do you really know that he didn't go through the stuff for legal remixing/remaking that song?? this sh** hapens all the time, but there are legal institutions of copyright an sh** and they decide. Do you know the song TI feat. Rihanna - Live Your Life? well the begining of the song is identical with a song from Romania, O-Zone - Dragostea Din Tei and there is no theft, they made a legal agreement. So leave Timbaland alone, hi's just a great producer!!!
The thing is that he used the entire piece on his song, did not tell the original author he is using it, and no royalties have been paid. There is no agreement of any kind between the two.
He just simply stole the tune and probably figured he could get away with it. The guy is an asshole basically.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i did asked below if you really know that he didn't do the copyright stuff jinxdone!
Yeah...he did steel the song...but i don't really think he did it for the money...seriously, how much can he gain off that ringtone?...anyway the original song and the remake sucks...onestly...
If he did not do it for the money the other reason I can think of is that he did it because he has no ideas of is own (or had none at the time he did it).
Anyhow the song did become quite popular and thus he did make money on it. Even if he was quite well off to begin with doesn't change the fact that this is theft.
The rich keep getting richer by stealing where they can, and that is ok ... because? All that was required was to give proper credit and compensation to the original author.
you totally effin' contradicted your self. TI is smart and GOT THE COMPYRIGHT TO THE SAMPLE!!! TIMBO DID NOT!! I REPEAT DID NOT!! why would a finnish band waste money suing someone from a different country if they knew e had the copyright?

Timbaland is a fuckin sick ass producer fuck whoever thinks different.. sometimes these niggas hear the same beat in their head.. tell me about anything else that this genius has created that sounds even remotely familiar to any one elses shit... his shit is unique and everything he has come up with is a fuckin banger
Thats like me releasing a Britney Spears album, calling it my own work and then saying it was my own work and justifying my theft with what you put... "sometimes these niggas hear the same beat in their head.."
He's ripping off the underground unsigned demoscene. He's nothing more than a theif.
yeah so this really isnt just sampling, when you make a sample you don't rip off the whole melody of the song with the downbeats and all.. check out the video where this is analyzed with a real audio program, it's completely the same!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This IS sampling and there's nothing wrong with it, but, he definitely should not have claimed it to be original and should have given credit and paid royalties.
There is nothing wrong with sampling entire melodies and "just adding drums" as long as you give the appropriate credit.
Look at 'Hits From The Bong" for example, it's almost identical to the original song just with heavy drums and bass added.
he does not sample though sampling can only be up to 5 seconds in length...he steals the whole song and call it his own while not giving ANY credit to the original people...what a cock bite
Theres sampling and then theres ripping a damn near entire song. He stole it plain and simple threw in drums and a clap and you have "do it" and "block party".
if you really need his music, just download it for free and spend your money on local/lesser known artists instead. i promise you will feel better about yourself.
wouldnt it be great if it backfired on him, and everyone started boycotting him until he had to take the bus to work?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
nah not really ...he is acutally one of the best if you REALLY look as his work and it all comes down to which genre u wanna listen to.....i doubt anyone even heard the original song b4 i know damn sure i havent
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
lol w/e he still has talent producers go thro shit like this all the time ...no one says anything until they the song is blown up and on the radio then they want to thro charges at people
I feel that if Timbaland had or even would credit the original artist/producer with being the main/total inspiration behind Timbaland's own work. It would give him more credibility as an artist to my eyes/ears. Because, at least, it would mean he's got a good ear and great taste. However, since he clearly stole the song... he's a hack.

well done you know what sampling is so you can lecture everybody.
producers can sample someones music to create something original, but when you sample an ENTIRE melody, loop it and put drums on top, and call it your own its stealing (cos its not exactly original is it?), if an average joe went on fruityloops and put some drums over the titanic theme and tried to sell it as an original what would you think? timbaland does the exact same thing with less famous samples, therefore hes stealing.
Yeah, but not giving the original producers any credit and making millions off of something that wasn't half yours is another thing.
Sure I know Hardcore tunes from 1993 that sampled vocals and beats, but the fact is that they didn't make that much profit out of it, nor be able to get known out of the city they we're created in.
wow I tough this mofu ker was great, but damn his bulllshit. His last albulm was one of the few albulm I ever buy. I don't think I will buy an other CD right now,
Why paying for some you can get free, when the thing you buy it stoled
I hate unoriginal producers who make out they are good when all along they just "TEEF" other peoples ideas. They get them ideas out there quick because of the situation they are in having well known artists whating them to produce their new record.
He even used the same ELEKTRON SID STATION sounds..
I hope they sue him and earn what is rightfully theirs.
There is a huge difference between sampling and this, sampling is just taking bits of other songs and mixing it up making something new from it, this is just a clear cut copy!

Gimme a break, what is stealing digital information? Maybe he remade those beats after hearing, or you can say that he used it, as a raw material, for a much supreme art, I mean who the fuck are you to judge the value of art. Many others done the same before, for example kanye west with punk druft, rihanna with ozon, jay-z with I dunno what rock music with higher pitch and so on, many other remixes, and no one complains about it. Listen to either one you like, and stop complaining.
How would you feel if you turned in a paper at school or college and one of your class mates stole it put it in a different folder with their name on it and handed it in as their own.
Then at the end of it all you get a BIG FAT F, and the other guy gets an A+?
Would that be OK if their folder looked a 1000 times better?

haha...The song is only big because timbland tweaked it! I mean if you listen to apologize it sounds pretty much the same he just hit the 808 a bit lower and added his voice..the song would not made it big anywhere!!! And if he did this like 20 years later it would all be good
Agreed. Timbaland is an asshole. I don't believe he had the SidStation in his studio though. He's too lazy for that shit, its probably an emulator. Even if it was an ESS, he'd still be the retard-who-doesn't-have-the-time/is-too-stupid-guy-to-build-a-MIDIBOX!

The two video responses above tell tell the truth about the difference between sampling and stealing. Even Timberland himself tells you the difference even though he claims that it's from a video game. The court will ask, "who produced the music in that game and what game is it".

the first file being played is a midi file... you can download them for most songs... most midi files played in media players all sound the same because the multitracks all use the same synth to reproduce the original song... where as in any production program you can listen to each midi piece as a different instrument...(this is basics to audio production 101) the only similarity's in both the songs is the high hats replicated within the midi file...
hthee444 2 years ago
(which you will probably find in 10's of thousands of other songs / its just a varied level hat) timbo using the actual single synth output of a midi file he made for his song... is genius... no plz stop hating

You dont have to get your material copywritten, as soon as you produce a piece of work whether it be a kid scribbling on a napkin or an artist on a10ft canvas, you are automatically covered.

Wake up...

Getting credit is overrated any way, such a primitive concept. Same as money, it can buy about any thing in this world, but except food, friendship electronics, the world has so little to offer.
And depending on your interpretation, it can even buy the middle one.

runawaychild666 2 years ago
Yes Hip Hop is made from samples like all other big hits. But what they did is credit the original writers. I'm sure Stevie Wonder got money from Coolio Gangsta's Paradise and he was credited aswell. There is a risk that we all take when we sample other material if we don't credit them and must face the consequences if there is an issue. EVERYONE PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS BEFORE YOU START PRODUCING OFF RIPPED MATERIAL.
By the way this isn't aimed at you but my opinion to the answer you gave.
slightlytwistedagain 2 years ago 11
Also a similar thing happened with Zombi Nation by Kernkraft 400 when they ripped the idea from a C64 game called Lazy Jones. Originally unlicensed, they paid an undisclosed fee. They didn't sample it, just taken the melody and had to pay out for it. Timbaland can say "it's from a computer game frikin jerk" but so was Zombi Nation. Computer game music is not exempt from being real music because it's part of a game. If that's the case then all current game music can be ripped without consequences
slightlytwistedagain 2 years ago
If anyone still thinks that what Timbaland did was fine, take a look at what Vanilla Ice did with Ice Ice Baby. He "just taken the bassline" from Queen & David Bowie - Under pressure and released it as his own without crediting them. This changed later when they went to press charges. I guess that you have got to have money to protect your music art in this world. For those unfortunate to fund court proceedings, name and same is the best we can do.

but how Premier did it was different. he didn't rip an entire song. and he gave credit. he still did original stuff with the song. what timbaland has probably done here is use expensive studio equipment to make old songs sound new, fresh and timbaland-beat-like.

So leave Timbaland alone, hi's just a great producer!!!
bila152004 2 years ago
Not too much going on in your head, is there?
The thing is that he used the entire piece on his song, did not tell the original author he is using it, and no royalties have been paid. There is no agreement of any kind between the two.
He just simply stole the tune and probably figured he could get away with it. The guy is an asshole basically.

Yeah...he did steel the song...but i don't really think he did it for the money...seriously, how much can he gain off that ringtone?...anyway the original song and the remake sucks...onestly...
bila152004 2 years ago
If he did not do it for the money the other reason I can think of is that he did it because he has no ideas of is own (or had none at the time he did it).
Anyhow the song did become quite popular and thus he did make money on it. Even if he was quite well off to begin with doesn't change the fact that this is theft.
The rich keep getting richer by stealing where they can, and that is ok ... because? All that was required was to give proper credit and compensation to the original author.
jinxdone 2 years ago 3
yes, we really know that.

you totally effin' contradicted your self. TI is smart and GOT THE COMPYRIGHT TO THE SAMPLE!!! TIMBO DID NOT!! I REPEAT DID NOT!! why would a finnish band waste money suing someone from a different country if they knew e had the copyright?

This IS sampling and there's nothing wrong with it, but, he definitely should not have claimed it to be original and should have given credit and paid royalties.
There is nothing wrong with sampling entire melodies and "just adding drums" as long as you give the appropriate credit.
Look at 'Hits From The Bong" for example, it's almost identical to the original song just with heavy drums and bass added.

I feel that if Timbaland had or even would credit the original artist/producer with being the main/total inspiration behind Timbaland's own work. well done you know what sampling is so you can lecture everybody.
producers can sample someones music to create something original, but when you sample an ENTIRE melody, loop it and put drums on top, and call it your own its stealing (cos its not exactly original is it?), if an average joe went on fruityloops and put some drums over the titanic theme and tried to sell it as an original what would you think? timbaland does the exact same thing with less famous samples, therefore hes stealing.
