In Baltics we aren't generally religious or believe in some magic, however because of unrestricted fortune-telling and some "extrasnese" TV and a bit of pagan culture (includes astrology as well) shows the situation got worse. Especially in crisis even entrepreneurs started to ask help from fortune tellers.

I wish Randi was a big name in Baltics.

so 10x+y-10y+x=9(x-y)=10(x-y)-(x-­y)=10((x-y)-1)+(10-(x-y) hens the digest of the 3rd number are (x-y)-1 & 10-(x-y)=10-x+y and

so (x-y-1)+(10-x+y)=9 since all the letters cancel out

and I don't think I need to tell you what 1/2 of 9 is

Brilliant adaptation to the "mentalist" trick by applying the coins so that it would make it less likely that you got the answer right...I can really see ways to apply that even better in a one on one "close up" magic style...from an amateur (meaning that no one will pay me for mine!) magician, nicely done!

Fun trick... subtract any two digit number from it's reverse and you get a multiple of 9. When you add the digits of any 2 digit multiple of 9 together, you get 9... So Randi knew exactly what he was going for :)
