For those of you that argue about tuna and salmon and stuff. Yes, you are correct they do have mercury in them, happy? HOWEVER, not such a large amount that it is toxic. If you are in Japan and you are fighting to KEEP the dolphin slaughter then you are basically fighting against yourself by poisoning yourself with mercury (and the innocent people of Japan). This is not to be against Japan. This is for the world and Japan to work together in preserving the lives of dolphins.

At the end they tested the guy that was talking about the minimum amount of mercury that is legal to sell and he intoxicated with mercury. But nobody die because of that and no deformed child has been born like Minamata. It is mystery that they eat dolphins but they have no health problems. @Marvintherobot8 I've swam with a dolphin before in the British Virgin Islands. They're neat little animals, but nothing entirely special. People like them because they look charming, not because they're important.
And I don't know where you're getting your info, but Japanese authorities don't torture people. I have plenty of friends from Japan and they all confirm that the country is pretty pessimistic, even the authorities (because people there actually obey the law).

Ok and now my take on this. I achknowledge that not everyone in Japan approves of the careless slaughter of 20,000 dolphins each year. But I will say that eating dolphin is not a bad thing. BUT, sometimes, tradition must be dumped for reality. Dolphins(and whales) are endangered. Killing them at this rate only makes it where down the road, your country will never be able to partake in this tradition ever again. More arekilled than those that are born each year. Why set yourselves up for failure?

Dolphin meat, as a result of toxic byproducts from human industry, causes Mercury poisoning.

Now that polutent has come back, along with that from all other unclean industrialized operations, in seafood products, and animals at the top of the food chain accumulate massive amounts of it.
