  • finally, a video that can touch me!

  • Learn it once this way and you'll never forget: Bunny comes up the hole, goes around the tree and goes back down the hole.

  • This will help me with Outdoor Adventures. Thanks!

  • Yay! Now i can hang mu self!

  • Can someone give me a recommendation on a knot to use in conjunction with the bowline. Say I use a bowline to tie a rope to a tree, then in the other end I have something that I need to attach to the tree but keep the line nice and taut. Seems I would need some kind of one way sliding knot?

  • how the hell did i end up here?

  • Best Knot in the world!

  • thank you veri much!!!! now i noe how to tie bowline!! i nid it for a test.

  • What's your suggestions for the best know to use for an anchor line?

  • now i can hang TWO PEOPLE BWA HA HA HA HAA

  • Thanks a heap for this! Just started my first day at a salmon farm in Tasmania......all they do is tie bowlines all day, ......was feeling like a chump... now I feel like a champ!

  • dude you are my hero.

  • Thank you so much. I can tie the heck out of a bowline knot, but I always run into trouble tying it to something at my boat. his one's going to remain in my fav's for a while. You rock!

Not too many vids applying this usefull knot.

@AJD. Of course this is a bowline knot! you must be confused.

  • woooo! Left hand dominate bowline. new too me.

  • @AJD1326paintballer This is a correct bowline, one of the few correct videos on Youtube.

  • one of the few videos on Youtube that shows a correct bowline

  • I tie one of these knots in my penis to take up the slack

  • good vid, best i seen

  • tyrtye5y

  • Great video, but I wish there was a slo-mo + replay option.

  • This is also the knot used in KENDO, to tie the Tsuru to the leather tip of the shinai....!

  • best video!!! Thank You!!!!

  • This is what I needed!! Every other video or demonstration is just a rope & not anchoring it to anything! Maybe I can do this now!

  • Yay! I've never been able to tie a bowline before watching this video! Thank You!!

  • This is the best video of tying a bowline on YouTube and easily the best explanation I've ever seen. Simple and Precise. Well done.

  • Just practicing this now, your video shows it very well, I need to tie one for a ground anchor in my dead rope which goes into a clove hitch to belay my heavy friend :D

  • Great video, this really makes it so simple, will be getting tested on tieing this tonight. Thanks.

  • i've been watching your video over and over and over... and still can't do it!!!!

  • well, you should get a teacher then.

  • It should be mentioned that while these are excellent instructions, it is easy to make a mistake and wind up with whats called an outside bowline rather than the desired inside bowline. I mention this because it is an easy mistake to make and you could wind up with a problem the knot was intended to avoid.

  • thanks! I'm a firefighter in Ga. this knot has never been shown to me this simply.

    very appreciated.

  • Thank you. Most people and diagrams show this knot tied by itself... I've never understood that. I really can't think of why you would tie a bowline to nothing? It is the practical applications that make this so valuable. You're always going to tie it to something, be it a post, bumper, boat or a person.

  • thats right i was searching the whole internet to find this knot tied on something ! good work thanks!

  • @PalateProductions or a caribeener. my friend is an arborist and I do side jobs with him, he requires me to know these knots so thank you for this explaination! really/!!

  • Thanks a lot for the vid. Very clear and concise.

  • Thank you. Your video is the easiest I've seen. I've tried to tie a bowline from drawn illustrations & photographs but yours works for me. I'm confident that I can do it now.

  • my bad your right it looked like a similar knot i know but goes a different knot know that i look at it it dosnt slip sorry your right

  • great vid thx very much!!!my dad neaded it so i showed him youtube!!!

  • Everybody raves about how easy this knot is to untie but nobody shows how. Is there a trick to it?

  • The bowline is one of a few knots that can be untied no matter how wet or how much force has been exerted on the knot. There is no real trick to untie it. Just push the line back through the hole or you can push the loop down the line.

  • Thank you. I'll have to give it a try now that I can tie it.

  • @masm60 It is easy to untie intentionally, but it won't come un-done by itself if that is what you mean.

  • This is a Great knot video! Thank you for posting this. Please post some more!

  • THANK YOU for showing this. This is an important knot to know!! It is one of the only knots you ca untie no matter how tight or wet the rope gets!! You are why there is YouTube!!
