  • nice

  • i love how americans cant say solder, lmao... goes along nicely with aluminium

  • @dragon2309

    lol yeah, sodder and a-loo-mi-num

  • what flux brand are you using? im using all spec's and it evaporates with a my heat gun or my solder iron. sometimes if i apply flux and wait soe seconds its already gone.

  • does that thing spit out solder as he drags? thats what it looked like, if so i want one

  • @eddiea6987 - I think that thing was a syringe with liquid flux.

  • This is a mess, Dave Jones of the EEVblog does a much better job lol

  • great "soddering" technique... can it be used for soldering too?

  • CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO OF DRAG SOLDERING:

    youtube.com/watch?v=5uiroWBkdFY&feature=related

WITH A 4$ TIP AND A LITTLE PRACTICE... BOOM A PERFECTLY SOLDERED CHIP AND NO EXTRA HEAT!

  • There is one MAJOR problem with this technique.... when you said to go back and forth over the pins several times, this can and WILL cause over heating of the chip and solder...

  • FTDI FTW!

  • heal fillet, delicious!

  • No its wont have connections between the tips. The solder will flow evenly under the pins. Just try before U open your bad mouth.

  • I must be a moron....doesn't that end up creating an electrical connection between all the pins?

  • you americans and your pronunciation of "solder". how bizarre. sodder? sadder? no, it's SOLder. sodder solder sodder solder. honestly how did this catch on?

  • @hutchwilco no my friend. your pronunciation is wrong. have a nice day.

  • @LIFESTOSHORTTOCARE how would you pronunciate soldier, in that case? your brave soddier?

  • @hutchwilco aww yes taking a stab at American intelligence by basing your information on one individual. whens the last time you brushed your teeth?

  • @hutchwilco soul jer is soilder

    saw der is solder

  • Doesn't This solder all the pins together they way he just did that?

  • @Wemee1978 No, the solder disperses and solders each pin to their respective pad.

  • nice solder technique! also nice camera work!

  • Its better and easier to use a proper reflow tip (also called bath tip) which has a concave hole to hold solder in.

If I used the method in the video i'd shift pads

  • @grogyan No need for that kind of tip at all, stick to using the one for this type of job,a chisel tip.

Then just slide it from one end to the other and that's basically it.

  • simon, i think its the resin inside the solder, its normal, as long as your cleaning afterwards and using flux i dont think its much of a problem.

  • Why does it turn yellow? I hate that. When Im soldering I always get that, then I just give up.... Is there any kind of flush that wont do that?

  • very nice

  • nice technique, thank you!
