  • Best part of the video is @ 1:35 when the roadside man gets blasted with dirt.

  • es trasera ingenieros de kaminos!!!!

  • this is jean ragnotti re5spect

  • renault 205 turbo rally car vent next to me today at finland road.

  • dear santa...

  • Great cars and even greater drivers avoiding the fans....great stuff

  • RWD>AWD

  • Group B machines and the Rally of Portugal! The best era ever!

  • This car looks like fun to drive :D

  • cet une voiture de france vive la france !!!

  • All the racing derivatives were based on the Turbo 1. The factory pushed the engine output up to 180 PS (132 kW; 178 hp) for the Critérium des Cévennes, 210 PS (154 kW; 207 hp) for the Tour de Corse, and by 1984 as much as 350 PS (257 kW; 345 hp) in the 5 Turbo Maxi! The 350 PS was very close to 375 PS! I remember seeing the 375 PS Maxi in a magazine from the 80s called "Fastlane" and they were testing the circuit racer with 375PS.......Awesome!

  • alala quel coffre cette caisse pour un 1400 je reve du jour ou je l'aurais enfin !!!!

  • Now that is REAL drifting!!

  • The last models had over 400bhp

  • @Qetuos1979 no the maxi 5 have 350hp , the version asphalte spee have 380hp.

  • @Qetuos1979 no the last model is in rally the maxi 5 350 chevaux in color off phillips or diac , the asphalt version is 370hp.

  • Ar.. Is absolutely right.. To produce 350bhp in 1984 is still insane!

  • arnechk: the preamble refers to outputs of the Lancia deltas, Audi Quattro E3, and the last of the 205T16s, not to the R5.

    read it.

  • at 1:37 he smoked him

  • brividi!!!

  • excellent video :)

  • style!!

  • stupid niggers total monkeys

  • renault is mid engine, 4x2

  • Max engine output was around 350 HP not 500...

  • @Arnechk NOT 4X4

  • @cleo5875 Ah, my bad.

  • @Arnechk this engine it's prepared to the world of competition so almost everything is possible

  • @Arnechk it was even ABOVE 500 for the Group B cars. If I understand the authors destription correctly, he´s writing about the B cars, not the R5 maxi only.

BTW, Audi quattro had around 550 HP, lancia delta s4 even more...

  • @deekaysk This is correct.

  • @Arnechk Considering this was a turbo car and the Group B had no power or inlet manifold diameter limits, it could have easily been 700 in max. The Audi Quattro S1 Evo 2 produced 600hp or so and so, but if you cranked the boost to max it would punch out 1200hp+ easily... But for how long, that's what the engineers tried to find out. Group B wasn't run by a bunch of sissy marketing people but engineers who wanted to see where the technology simply blew up. This was a time for test pilots.

  • @Meton12765 That is true, they could crank up the HP to insane amounts but cars had to do 60 km courses so that wasnt an option.

  • @Arnechk He says all cars.. but Group B (B for BEASTS haha ) has cars like Audi with 1000HP + a real monster...

  • @nopochoclos They didnt run with 1000 HP, i dont know where are you getting those values. At such power, turbo would be at some retardedly insane pressure, wich would blew up the engine after a stage or two. Also they struggled with grip even at such power, 1000HP would be a waste anyway.

  • @Arnechk Audi with Sport Quattro S1 easily got 600 HP aprox, when Audi run the latest engines on Pikes Peakes runs a vehicles with 950 to 1000+ Horsepower, then group B is Closed by F.I.A.

Waste or not these engines exist on group B on the final 80´s, even now modern race cars have turbo with more than 1200 HP with no problems but is a risk every time ...

  • @nopochoclos It easilly go any HP really, they must of used around 800HP for the PP run. Later cars in unlimited class were ofcourse more advanced and powerful. GrB was closed because of bad safety and because cars were becoming even more dangerous.

Wich FIA event has 1200 HP engines? F1 has around 700, WRC has 300, LeMans P1 class is 650 HP.

  • @nopochoclos the audi not 1000 HP but ABOUT 600!!!

  • @Arnechk for the renault 5 yes , not for the other the most hp is the audi and lancia with 600 hp

  • @Arnechk

street legal version have 350hp. Grup B racing version have 850hp

  • People who stand on the road when the car's comming are sick! They should all DIE!

  • Description is wrong, this car is MR setup, not 4x4

  • aw ive got a b0ner now

  • Impressionante...altro che ste carrette che girano ora..

  • parole sante !!!!!!

  • parole sante !!!!!!

  • My favourity Rallycar in the 80´s. R5 Legends

  • i ment the engine behind the front seats....not under the bonnet

  • It's rear wheel drive ! it has the angin in the back

  • It's a mid engine.

  • 1:18 wooooaaaa

    80s rally was insane

  • This is B group, it was cancelled because the accident when Henri Toivonen died. But there were many accidents before that, and it had to be closed.

  • I think it had more to do with the 33 injured and 3 dead spectators in portugal '86. Although Toivonen's death maybe was part of it, what about Atillio Bettega? They didn't cancel it for him.

  • about 800kg and 400hp, THATS SICK!!

  • mica male!!!!!!:D

  • 400 hp!!!

  • Fun fun fun. Why are so many of the Renaults painted in that blue/red scheme like Ragnotti's? Is that like a trademark Renault color, or is that just one car shown many times?

  • That's the PHILLIPS livery,

most of the little but mighty 5's were sponsored by PHILLIPS

  • @justforever96 the maxi 5 350hp is blue/red because it's the color of sponsor "phillips"

  • the Clio V6's Grand Daddy! what a car!!

  • despite the danger i want one

  • The things jean Ragnotti did with this little monster was unbelievable.Great car, great video:-)

  • I really like the flames coming out of the side!!

  • @stuttgartdogg Yep, reminds me american muscles.

This is a big baby :)

  • nasty lil creature lmaoo bro y did they have to stop the best rally class ever?

  • Because of too many dead drivers and spectators.

  • amazing! no music and no comments.... only 100% racing sound!... love it!

  • i love this car

  • pequeño pero maton!!

  • Ekilikuaa!

  • super video jadore cette voiture si tu peut envoi me la stp

  • Yes be careful maybe i' ll fucking kill you

  • Born to be a WINNER

  • What a devil little car! Sounds like a bug! Amazing! Love it!

  • Radbourne Racing in Wimbledon always seemed to have a few of these lying around in the 80's. I only drove the standard FWD ones.

  • were they the R5 GT Turbo?

the ones in the video are Gordini's, and were all rear wheel drive, mid engined as standard

  • yea, GT Turbo, using a pressurised carb after the turbo! to increase the power you just drilled a small hole in a pipe to fool it into running at higher boost, (no ECU there), if you changed gear fast enough they would spin the front wheels thru first and second gears, great fun. ( mind you, the Fiat Uno Turbo would give full boost in reverse!) those were the days (80's) I prefer the MK1 VW GTi - I had 1 ( cover car 1st issue of 'The Golf' mag 1995.

  • it say s in the info that these supercars are 4x4 when the r5 maxi was rwd! there is no 4x4 renault 5 standard

  • ford is 2000cm renault 1400cm

  • grazie.

  • i agree, its like ford with the cosworth

  • r5 love...
