Do you listen what airline staff tell you, at the beginning of the flight, about electric appliances...??? Afterward do have a smoke in the lavatory???
@radeonplus Ou right, and a smoking in the lavatory is not okay but barbique is. Last 200 times when I have been flying word 'radio transmitter' is never said.
@2Moukkaa I have seen thousands of videos of planes taking off and landings, and have done many of them myself, and no problems shown to the aircraft equipment, no people were harmed.
I have never been too fond of turboprops - i prefere jet airliners by far, though i havent been on a turboprop before and i will be going on a DeHavilland Dash 8 in a few weeks, after watching this vidio im kinda looking forawrd to it cheers :D
the town in the bahamas where im from has only a 3000ft runway with bushes very close on either side. The pilots normaly hold the brake and gas up then lets loose. The effect is like warp speed from star trek as the close bushes blur when the dash 8 takes off. Also landing at this airport is a thrill whn reverse thrust is applied.Once the trolley at the back galley came loose...flew to the front of the cabin and injured the FA.they had to fly in another FA for the return flight.
i love being a passenger on the dash 8, especially on the shorter runways, when they put the brake on and gives full throttle i always imagine that the pilot is trying to do a burn-out. :-)
In the end of the movie he feathers the propellers. It means he twist the blade to take a bigger bite of the air and the RPM drops, but the utilization of available power stays pretty much the same. Feathering is cool stuff.
Dash 8's are great planes, and although they have very good short runway performance, they don't actually meet the minimum STOL requirements (the old Dash 7's did).
I love the sound the dash 8 makes at :25. Its one of the best things I Iove about it. Take offs are nice too. Just if you hate air turbulance stay on something bigger like the A320 or 737.
@oreoweb6 I always like to travel with turbo propeller planes. I don't care about the turbulance. I once travelled with a smaller Dornier too. It was like a sky bicycle. :-)

Sorry to say.. but this was a boring video... Check mine .. With a short Take off from Mehamn to Honningsvåg. There you will have all from take off, too climb, cruise, decend and touchdown with music that is adjust for the depature..
That's a normal procedure for a turboprop at take off - even on short runways. During the aircraft runs up, the brakes have to be set. After having enough thrust, the Pilots reset the brakes and the Plane just needs about 60-70% of runway length, it usually needs!
You never take off with an aircraft when the engine oil is to cold. On cold airfields in Norway warming up may take some time. After a while when the engine gets warm, you can hear the pilot revving up while holding the brakes down to get enough pull from the enginges ( runways are REALLY short in some of these airfields :) )
On airports like Brønnøysund, Mo I Rana, Mosjøen, etc, aircrafts are not waiting for permission to fly. Aircrafts are given "runway free" when they're taxing out on the runway for takeoff, so they can take off whenever they want to.
Med visse modifikasjoner. De kan faktisk få lineup og må vente på clearance validity eller trafikk som skal entre pattern f.eks. AFIS kan faktisk holde igjen avganger om det er nødvendig :-)
i remember flying on a dash 8 last summer. boy was that fun. only thing is flights are so slow lol. but it was different and fun. I didnt like sitting next to those huge props though.
Do you mean the propel? It has happen that they have sliced through the plane, but no one was sitting next to them, so no one got injured, fortunated. Thank God...
Anyway, I'd have touch a propel, but the engines was turned off then.
Love the dash 8, the noise is a one of a kind! Hopefully I will fly the dash 8 100, 200, 300 or 400, I dont mind!:D Great video

Dude, even the pilots themselves often film in the cockpit. There is nothing wrong with using a camera.
ballebanan 6 months ago
@ballebanan Two wrong does not equal one right.
2Moukkaa 6 months ago
@2Moukkaa cameras use batteries they don't have a radio frequency so they don't interfere with any of the flight controls or data.

don't they feather the propellers when they taxi?
goldheartagram777 2 years ago
Yes they do it to get high rpm during takeoff. What I meant was that they reduce RPM and increase the bite when they are in the air. :)

Better than a low-wing turboprop, you get a much better view down. Comfortable seating, too, better than on a 747.
