@snussi55 oh sorry mis-read your question! i think he just made a really good guess to be honest! most men would have asked if it was a boy before a girl anyway because boys were more valuable during that era! but i don't think jack would have cared if the baby was a boy or girl, in the book they did have a boy and later on a girl as well, hope that helped!
@Drifting9Water have you seen the entire series or just the jack and aliena scenes? because there was a worker in the church in france who said that he couldn't use the stone, because he was crying at night. he wouldn't use it because the devil was in it. and to create a new relic jack picked it up used it to build the crying madonna so that there would be pilgrims again.... and that means of course money for the church in kingsbridge ;)

Its rare to find a couple on screen you really forget its fiction - its like plungin right into the story - I already liked the book - but now I'm in love with the movie! Eddie & Haley done a really amazing job!! Unfortunately Eddie's thrilling wonderful voice was badly synchronizised by a beeping and high pitched voice of too young man in Germany - so I decided to buy the original DVD - it's worth every penny!!! @lionqueen01 Well.. In the movie, when Jack works in France, you can see two mans discuss about this "pissing" stone. Basically this stone produces water at night, when the temperature gets colder. The eyes of the madonne are made from this stone, so Jack just has to wait until sunset, and the stone produces water, and that looks like the madonna is crying:) (and sorry for my bad English, I'm from Germany!^^)

and then aliena is such a kind of a contrast to him. flimsy, fragile, heavenly, unsoiled (if you want so).
but that is exactly what makes both so beautiful and perfectly complete in a unique way I can just gaze at.
