ha man wow never thought i see this again all i remember was a really long time ago i saw a clip of slime in the ice machine with the green slimer and that jingly has been stuck in my head every since I thought it was a commerical.
Sigh...I remember as a young child when it was exciting to hear him say "slime in the ice machine." As the years went on, it got more elaborate with the slime choir and animation. I remember one time he found pink slime.
I remember watching him as a very young child, and loving when he'd say "slime in the ice machine." Sometimes it would be pink slime! Then it got funnier over the years, with the Slime Choir and the video of the slime. Marvin was awesome. I miss his addition to Channel 13 news so much.
its crazy, i was always used to hear SLIME IN THE ICE MACHINE a few years ago, then i stopped watching the news. didnt know what happened to marvin until today when i asked my mom... damn...thats really depressing.
For the longest time, if you had somthing down low, no good, dirty going on in Houston, you lived in fear of Marvin Zindler. The late 1970s and 1980s were his best years.
Although I have family in Houston, I never heard of this guy. Now, after looking at this footage, his "slime in the ice machine" is forever embedded into my brain.
Marvin had more power than any city official. He stood up against the Establishment and for the right. He help all with no regard for age, color, wealth or status. You will be missed my man!
My wife moved here from North Carolina. The other day I told her that Marvin Zindler died and she asked who that was. I said, "the old man on 13 that always screams". She knew exactly who I was talking about. I've watched this guy my whole life (born in '83). Houston lost an icon and some of it's identity.
I'm sure that all those who have watched you and have been helped by you agree with me on this, Houston will never be the same without you. We will always love you and no one will ever be able to replace you. RIP Marvin, for years you've had angels, the people you've helped have considered you one, and now you're among God's.
I remember one time I was in college in Virginia and was I found a clip of Marvin saying "slime in the ice machine!" It made me feel homesick. This City will not be the same.
I remember sitting in the house on Friday nights and everyone would be the "Slime Chorus" and yell "SLIME IN THE ICE MACHINE" and also his signature sign off. How sad to know we've lost a hero.
I saw YouTube videos for KTRK. So, when I va-cayed, I just happened to be in Houston on a Friday night, and I was shocked to see his power at work. A legend indeed. From Boston, to up there, get some golf, tennis, whatever makes YOU happy, Marv.
I remember seeing Marvin Zindler on eyewitness news years ago back in 1979. I was about 9 years old and would come down to Nassau Bay where my dad was working for the summer. I remember seeing him every evening on the news. He was so unique and unforgetable, I actually looked for to hearing "Marvin Zindler eyewitness news!"
I just moved into Houston and Marvin Zindler's presentations on restaurant health inspections really caught my attention. His comical "SLIIIIIME IN THE ICE MACHINE" always made me laugh. That slogan has stuck with me. It seems like he was a part of Houston history. I'll miss his restaurant review clips. R.I.P.
I grew up watching him in the 70's. I miss Houston and Texas so much. I happened to be down there visiting my brother last week and saw him broadcasting from his hospital bed. He told us all not to feel sorry for him because he'd lived a long life. We'll miss you Mr. Zindler!
marvin i love you it is so sayed yesterday i wish you came back marvin now i will never get to see you say MARVIN ZENDLER EYE WHITNNES NEWS ENEYMORE NO I JUST FEEL SAYED.XOXOXO
Marvin Zindler was a legend in Houston broadcasting. He had a heart of gold as he helped many poor people get needed medical help. He is resting well now with God. God bless you Marvin!
good ol Marvin-he's really sick right now-let's keep our fingers crossed-Marvin Zindler's been in our corner for 30 some odd years now, let's get in his corner
I did. I figure it's not my place to rebroadcast the restaurants Zindler featured that week ... the clip's purpose is only to show his unique style of reporting on health inspections.
The Restaurant review was the heart and soul of his work. I do not live in Houston anymore and it would certainly entertain many people to see what his crew found and how he presents it.
