  • Sigh...I remember as a young child when it was exciting to hear him say "slime in the ice machine." As the years went on, it got more elaborate with the slime choir and animation. I remember one time he found pink slime.

  • I remember watching him as a very young child, and loving when he'd say "slime in the ice machine." Sometimes it would be pink slime! Then it got funnier over the years, with the Slime Choir and the video of the slime. Marvin was awesome. I miss his addition to Channel 13 news so much.

  • "or whatever makes you happy" words to live by,long live marvin

  • aww.. i loved this guy

  • Why did you remove the names of the restaurants!? To protect their identities??

THEY HAD SLIME IN THE ICE MACHINE!!

  • hahahahahahahaha classic!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Many years of watching Marvin. Never can forget his big ass glasses. :)

  • That and the slow evolution of them going from pain tinted, to tinted green. I remember them being red through the late 80's.

  • For the longest time, if you had somthing down low, no good, dirty going on in Houston, you lived in fear of Marvin Zindler. The late 1970s and 1980s were his best years.

  • Legend.

  • I loved it. "Now and now and now for the big big big big big big S!"

  • Although I have family in Houston, I never heard of this guy. Now, after looking at this footage, his "slime in the ice machine" is forever embedded into my brain.

  • marvin rocked, such an inside houston area thing too. RIP

  • the best part was always Dave Ward, playing the straight man, "Thank you, Marvin" in that low key voice.

  • All together now: "MAAAAAAAAAAAARVIN ZINDLER, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYEWITNESS NEWS!"

RIP, Marvin. You are a true Texas legend - and that's being in darn good company!

  • Marvin had more power than any city official. He stood up against the Establishment and for the right. He help all with no regard for age, color, wealth or status. You will be missed my man!

  • A TRUE AMERICAN HERO

  • R.I.P. Marvin

Houston will never forget you bro

  • lmfao. you have too be a trueee houstonian to be able to imitate this guy. :D

  • I would watch the news, just to see him. He's my icon.

  • thank you marvin

  • RIP Marvin,I will miss you alot.

  • I always looked forward to the restaurant report, just to see which establishments would have Roaches, Rats & SLIME IN THE ICE MACHINE!!!

    Marvin Zindler, Eyewitness News!

Reat in peace Marvin. Hope in heaven, their food gets the blue ribbon award!

  • Slime in the Ice Machine? This isn't Nickelodeon Studios or Nick's old Double Dare!

  • But he's reporting the terrible conditions in hell. What do they have up there, a little FDA up there?

  • We will all miss Marvin and his "slime in the ice machine" reports. KTRK will never be the same.

  • Have a great weekend. Good golf, good tennis or whatever makes you happy. MAAAAAARVIN ZINDLER, EYYYYYEEEWITNESS NEWS.

  • My wife moved here from North Carolina. The other day I told her that Marvin Zindler died and she asked who that was. I said, "the old man on 13 that always screams". She knew exactly who I was talking about. I've watched this guy my whole life (born in '83). Houston lost an icon and some of it's identity.

  • As Dave Ward would say, Thank ya, Marvin.

  • DAMN, its sad that a good one had to go...You'll be missed.

  • when can we be able to embed this clip?

  • Embedding has been re-enabled for the time being.

  • I'm sure that all those who have watched you and have been helped by you agree with me on this, Houston will never be the same without you. We will always love you and no one will ever be able to replace you. RIP Marvin, for years you've had angels, the people you've helped have considered you one, and now you're among God's.

  • I remember one time I was in college in Virginia and was I found a clip of Marvin saying "slime in the ice machine!" It made me feel homesick. This City will not be the same.

  • Godbless you Marvin. I'm 24 and grew up w/ Marv and Friday's "Big, big, big, S" report. Gonna miss u bro, RIP Marv.

  • ..HOUSTON LEGEND..

  • Going to miss you Marvin. You're an inspiration. Your service to the community will carry on forever.

  • An Icon who is loved and will be missed by all. RIP Marvin, Tell Paul we miss him too

  • I remember sitting in the house on Friday nights and everyone would be the "Slime Chorus" and yell "SLIME IN THE ICE MACHINE" and also his signature sign off. How sad to know we've lost a hero.

  • He shut down the best little whorehouse in Texas, but he made up for it with great taglines. RIP Marv, I'll always remember your crazy ass.

  • "The Chicken Ranch" wasn't just a whorehouse and it really needed to be put down. I hated the movie about it.

  • RIP Marvin.......Houston loves you...

  • I saw YouTube videos for KTRK. So, when I va-cayed, I just happened to be in Houston on a Friday night, and I was shocked to see his power at work. A legend indeed. From Boston, to up there, get some golf, tennis, whatever makes YOU happy, Marv.

  • i cant beleive he died. he was the best news anchor that i ever saw. every body in the houston area new him. R.I.P. Marvin Zindler

  • I've never seen a tv personality like Marvin, and I doubt I ever will. End of an era. Very sad day.

  • Thanks for posting this, I needed to show some people what the Zindler experience was all about.

  • Good Golf, Good Tennis, or WHATEVER make you happy up there Marvin.

  • By Marvin I can remember you from back when I was a little boy. RIP

  • Slime in the Ice Machine Damn I gonna miss those reports nobody can replace that man gonna miss you Marvin

  • I remember seeing Marvin Zindler on eyewitness news years ago back in 1979. I was about 9 years old and would come down to Nassau Bay where my dad was working for the summer. I remember seeing him every evening on the news. He was so unique and unforgetable, I actually looked for to hearing "Marvin Zindler eyewitness news!"

  • :'[

    Rest in Peace my hero

  • I just moved into Houston and Marvin Zindler's presentations on restaurant health inspections really caught my attention. His comical "SLIIIIIME IN THE ICE MACHINE" always made me laugh. That slogan has stuck with me. It seems like he was a part of Houston history. I'll miss his restaurant review clips. R.I.P.

  • oh i miss watching the news in houston!!!! that's old school!

  • oh my god that is the best dude ever.

  • have you guys seen his newer ones, they keep adding graphics with tons of tiny Marvins in the ice machine.. it's GREAT!

  • Who edited the restaurant review?

  • I did. I figure it's not my place to rebroadcast the restaurants Zindler featured that week ... the clip's purpose is only to show his unique style of reporting on health inspections.

  • The Restaurant review was the heart and soul of his work. I do not live in Houston anymore and it would certainly entertain many people to see what his crew found and how he presents it.

  • Wow, that's lame.

  • SLIIIIME in the ice machine!
