  • Eddie Cantor gave Eddie Fisher a suit when he came out of the army, so he had something to wear when he went to perform. Eddie Cantor and Ida had 5 daughters; he took a liking to Eddie Fisher; perhaps he was the son that Eddie Cantor never had.

  • My compliments to the person who posted this recording--you have excellent judgement.

  • Remember this song was in the juke boxes the year I arrived in US of A and used to play it often.

  • Don't EVER play Lady of Spain again!!!

  • All I see is Paul Newman threatening an organist. Still a good song.

  • Great voice, great orchestration!

  • the favorite song of my father who has recently passed....

  • are you kidding? Listen to Mario Lanza - now he has a voice!!!!!

pull down your pants i'll explore you

    sung by uk kids

  • I can see why the girls (and who knows? guys) went for him--boyishly handsome with a touch of mystery.

  • what a bel canto voice! sweet clear and rich--Jerry Vale comes somewhat close, but then Eddie leaves him in his trail..

  • "Don't you ever play this song again!"

  • This is the last song i heard my grandma sing. I'm 13 and this song brings back good memories, never thought youd hear that from a kid did you? (: lol

  • Eddie, in the end, does come to realize that for a lasting career, he should have given his selection of songs to record more attention than he did chasing women, or assisting his buddies Mike Todd and Dr. Max with their work. Fisher recorded any song he was given. In the early 1950s, when crooners and novelty songs were popular. Frank Sinatra, managed to create a lasting body of work. And Fisher was a terrible actor, so he never made it in the movies. Eddie was a sterlets pussy freak.

  • fokjs this fag is bacvk stalking me we must get him off youtube. hes disgracing every video hes on just read look fir his name read his vulgar filthy remarks. thanks friend he never broke a stiry the liasr but WE LIKE TO BREAK HIS HEAD the fag stalker

  • @tomkes100 You're just a filthy Nazi who traffics in anti-semitism, that's about the lowest one can go. You are your Nazi pals have been exposed for what you are and have justified all of the negative attention you have received!

  • OH MY PAPA OH MY GOOD EDDIE FISHER DIES GOd we will miss you. YUR BEST SONG your theme OMP God Eddie rest well gentle one 82 but still young. i remember OMP at only 2 hrs old (ha ha) and that imortal song stuck with me. its my childhood shattered. EDDIE WE WILL MISS YOU Tomk

  • @tomkes100 TEAM MENDES ACTUALLY BROKE THIS STORY FOR YOU.

  • @tomkes100 Tomkes, don't you think there's no point in kissing up to a man that has already passed? There's absolutely no chance of him letting you sniff his ass now. The living men won't let you, and the dead men won't either.

  • What a great and rich voice. Eddie is missed already. Thanks for the wonderful music.

  • I had forgotten what a rich and powerful voice he had. R. I. P.

  • Love this song. I liked dancing to it while leaping over furniture and wearing a

shawl and fedora hat belonging to my older brother. How fast and thrilling it

    was...and I was just ten years-old!

  • Eddie Fisher was the greatest singer with a voice like a bell. And what songs and musical arrangemens! They were largely the work of Hugo Winterhalter who collaborated with Eddie for many of the songs and albums. My favorite is "Wish You Were Here". I saw Eddie perform a number of times in the Catskill Mountains and twice in Massachusetts during the 1980s. A phenomenon.

  • @yvettealicemorton Very well said. No one combined emotion, power, range and sweetness of tone quite like Eddie. Some approached him, but none were as good. In the movie The Seven Year Itch, Marilyn Monroe's character blurts out, "You know, I got the biggest thing for Eddie Fisher." A sentiment music lovers agreed with for over 60 years.

  • @CarlDuke You are obviously a man who recognizes talent. Your comments are insightful. I am glad you also appreciate "Dungaree Doll". As a fan of Eddie, I just love the songs including "For That's the Chance You Take", "Tell Me Why", "Cindy Oh Cindy". I remember seeing Eddie in person for the first time in a Catskill Mountains hotel nightclub when he entered from the back singing "Anytime" with a spotlight shining on him. He almost brought down the house with that opening song alone.

  • Uh planet, yep He is Carrie Fishers father and was married to Debbie Reynolds

  • RIP

  • Thanks for this post. This is the original version of this song by Eddie and probably his greatest song. The later recording on Dot Records is also exceptional. As this is August 10, happy birthday number 82 to you, Edwin Jack Fisher, Philadelphia's gift to the world of music.

  • Rembering when was 5 years old my father always played this song alot. REAL GREAT FATHER.

  • Hugo Winterhalter deserved a lot of credit for this

superlative arrangement. Eddie like it too.

  • @dancebandleader thanks for your comments, Hugo!

  • @BernardProfitendieu you're welcome. Wonder what else you

    like?

  • @BernardProfitendieu saw your photo. You sure you were never in

    movies?

  • he nailed it--and with the paso dobles rhythm which v. few renditions respect.

  • great tune

  • eddie fisher de filadelfia.- tenia voz y la educo en corservatorio, cantante preparadono improvisado, lo demostro en un show con williams y y bobby darin.

  • was this guy straight?

  • i can see a guy spinning plates on ed sullivan to this music

  • What did he ever see in Liz Taylor. She was a pompous ass. He had his flaws but what a fabulous voice.

  • What the hell did Liz ever see in him.

  • Fantastico. Very long version for it's time. Thanks for posting.

  • The greatest singer's greatest song. what more is there to say.

  • I recall hearing this version many, many times back in the '50s...
