Pete Stark is my hero. I wish I lived in his district.
By the way, what did that first fellow say to Pete to get his dander up like that? I mean besides attributing the rats and mismanagement taking place at the VA under the previous administration to Obama? I notice the video editor clipped out the middle of that interchange.
"STOP SPENDING MONEY WE DO NOT HAVE!" This is a very strong sound bite and a great slogan --but unfortunately has no relation to how Macroeconomics work whatsoever! Sorry, guys, but government *first* spends and *then* collects. If you start a new country and have your new currency, don't you think the money has first to go out there before some portion of it comes back? The people in these meetings are well intentioned but treat state finances like a household's. Which is 100% erroneous.
So are you saying that the USA is a "new" country?? I think we've been around long enough to create a spending budget before we spend the money. Nice try...
OK, I get it. The govt spends first then collects because they either don't know how to create an annual budget they can adhere to, can't agree on one, or it isn't necessary. Seems to me that if they are allocating funds, it shouldn't be based upon raising the debt limit for funding. Simple or not, if the revenue isn't there, it isn't there. Doesn't seem hard to me. But I guess I'm just one of those "well intentioned" simpletons who was in the audience.
@TeaPartyTelevision Yes, Spending=Income, in Macroeconomics. Yes, Loans create Deposits, in the banking system. Yes, the federal bank can "conjure" money out of thin air. Yes, a bank is NEVER constrained by min.reserve requirements when giving out loans. Yes, "wild" spending by the government (too big a deficit) can lead to inflation.(Historically, inflation's never been caused by this, but never mind.)
These are all unshakeable, irrefutable facts derived from Natl Accounting rules. Sorry.
Dang! So we can spend (=income) and borrow (=deposits) our way out of the pickle that we're in. Obie & the Dems are right after all! Wouldn't it just be easier to print money? I mean, paper and ink are inexpensive and it does qualify as a "shovel-ready" job. We could borrow a hundred million and hire a thousand new govt employees (ten illegals to do the work and the rest management) with full bennies and retirement! The new American way! Why didn't they think of this sooner?
@TeaPartyTelevision That's exactly right. The private sector right now is cutting costs, laying off people and not doing much investing. In short, it is in (serious) deficit. And highly leveraged - priv.sector debt is enormous. In such a situation, trying to shift the government finances into SURPLUS is pure madness. Not from a political viewpoint but strictly accounting-wise. If the gov't continues to squeeze the pr.sector's wealth thru trying for surpluses we're heading for a (new) crash..
@TeaPartyTelevision About the "loans-create-deposits" bit you dispute. You must think only the government controls the money supply, right?
Suppose the government targets some specific limit on some M at, say, $100 billion. And next day, Bigbank happroves a 2 billion dollars loan for your company Newbusiness Inc. You take all that money and deposit it in a checking account. You just bombed the government's M target! That's new money, "printed" the same way the Fed "prints" money.
@TeaPartyTelevision You wrote "If they are allocating funds, it shouldn't be based upon raising the debt limit for funding." Here's how Macroeconomy works: The government creates "money" (deficit spending) out of thin air. Your tax money goes back to the same place : thin air. That's right, all the money you're giving the government you can consider as BURNED IN THEIR TRASHCAN. Govt spending&revenue is a simple flow of funds; not an amount of funds, per se. A budget is a prediction and no more.
So what's the solution? Continue down the same road? Obama has outspent Bush by over 2 to 1, and Bush had outspent Clinton by 3 to 1. The reason the financial sector isn't lending is because they don't trust the politicians. Their also tired of govt intervention into everything. Until we see the govt toss stupid things like the ethanol subsidies and cut it's spending on actual "entitlements", NOBODY will have any confidence in them at all.
@cvminutemen 1st, Obama's first year in office carried a 'Bush budget'! 2nd, Clinton inherited to GWB a surplus, which means the priv.sector LOST wealth and increased its indebtness - which was a major cause for the bad performance of US economy during Bush's first term. (And note I'm against most of Dubya's policies!)
3rd The banks are not lending because : they do not trust the ECONOMY; there not many creditworthy customers out there; and many corporations themselves don't want more debt!
@cvminutemen The solution out from the crisis is totally clear, in modern monetary theory terms:
The private sector is in deficit; the CA is in deficit (more dollars go out from the US than coming in); ergo, the government sector HAS to go into deficit! And persistently so. If the government cuts spending or increases taxes at this point we'll have inevitably a contraction of the private sector's wealth. And that's a statement above and beyond politics. It's arithmetic. It's accounting.
that sucks for anyone who has a heart attack after loosing their drivers licence. dying seems to be a pretty big punishment for leaving it in your other pants......what if your get shot and muged of your wallet? you just have to bleed to death? nice.
@SuperAthiest1 yes lol and watch as your family claims you and ignore them. point was there are MANY ways for people to be identified. its not so simple the if you dont have an ID on you they let you bleed.
@subzerohero111 remember that when you are out of state, horribly, disfigured, have no DNA on record, never been finger printed, and have not been to the dentist since you were a kid, are not in your car, and are dying! they will think of something.......you hope. it is unlikely to happen to you, but statistically probable to happen to someone at some time.
@SuperAthiest1 o btw, your finger prints are taken when your born or become a citizen or get you green card or visa FOR THIS SPECIFIC PURPOSE. not to mention the hundreds of ways to identify someone, which, again, was my point, if your a citizen, you really dont have to worry about not being identified. lol
@subzerohero111 why are some hospital patients identified as "john/jane doe" i personally saw an unidentified burn victim (not pretty). in case you havent figured it out, his name wasnt really john doe. they just had no idea who he was. oh yeah....thats impossible.....the term john doe just doesnt really exist and it was devised as a conspiracy against the health care system! is that really what you are claiming?
@SuperAthiest1 something being POSSIBLE doesnt make it PROBABLE. yes its possible, but its much better for that to be POSSIBLE than our tax dollars definitely going to support illegal immigrants who leach off our society. thats y i want ppl to be identified. the cases of people NOT being identified are very few, so its not such an issue that the whole country has to suffer.
@subzerohero111 remember that when it is your loved one then. maybe you could live with the knowledge that they could have been saved...... i could not. why not admit them and treat them while detained untill they can prove that they are a citizen? if it is found that they arnt then they could be deported. that would end their leaching for good, and the government could seize their property that was illegaly obtained for auction to pay their bill and deportation costs. noone has to die then.
@SuperAthiest1 1) what if they have nothing? that means our citizens pay for everything.. millions of times lol 2) why are you acting like this happens SOOOO many times? you create an extreme example and assume it happens everytime. EVERY OTHER COUNTRY in the world expects you to have your id, why should our county any different? i dont want people to die either, but atm our gov is spending too much time and money on just this sort of thing. make it simple, id and your served.
@subzerohero111 there were 3 just yesterday (that i found in a quick google search. probibly were more).... i guess i just feel that those taxpaying families have a right not to lose their american family member. sorry for that. i was hospitalized in canada, and they admited me and treated me..... i just had to pay for it. you really think that if you get hurt in another country that you are just on your own? why is this only a christian nation when convient. did jesus id b4 healing?
@SuperAthiest1 "3 just yesterday" compared to how many admitted? "i was hospitalized in canada, and they admited me and treated me." yea lets get rid of our guns like canada, and socialize medicine like canada lol no thanks, ill take my freedom. "why is this only a christian nation when convient. did jesus id b4 healing?" no, 1)He also didn't heal the masses and 2) He didnt need an ID for ID (omniscient).
altruism in the case of the government doesn't work. i can give you a list of examples.
@subzerohero111 " EVERY OTHER COUNTRY in the world expects you to have your id" i did not have a Canadian id and i was treated, so you were stating misinformation, that was my point. who said anything about taking our guns. someone wants my gun, come get it, i dare you! why is socialized medicne worse than socialized fire departments or police forces? should those be run for profit also? if not, why? why should i have to pay more tax because your wifes burning alive? buy your own fire truck!
@SuperAthiest1 "so you were stating misinformation, that was my point" what about germany, UK, France, and all of the influential countries? they ALL require ID, even Mexico lol "why is socialized medicne worse than socialized fire departments or police forces?" 1) tax rates skyrocket, 2) people make decisions based on 2 things: wallet and health, 3) the Gov is HORRIBLY inefficient at EVERYTHING they do, 4) because you dont use the police and fire services EVERY DAY, 5) private firms specialize
@SuperAthiest1 in providing services faster, cheaper, and in better quality because of supply, demand, and competition, 6) we ONLY started having problems when the gov put their fingers in it, 7)look at every socialist leader in HISTORY and you will notice this is thing 2 they enterprise on, and finally 8) SOCIALIST ANYTHING DOESNT WORK! do your research: social security? FAIL! medicare? FAIL! medicade? FAIL! guess who is the ONLY person to make it work? Hitler lol and thats because he only
@SuperAthiest1 allowed full blooded Germans to benefit from it. "why should i have to pay more tax because your wifes burning alive? buy your own fire truck! " and again, you dont use these services daily. i DO agree that our mail should be private. look at the money its losing MONTHLY and tell if its good lol
here is something else you have to ask, which you ignore: why cant we identify these people?
if we continue to "follow our hearts," we will destroy ourselves. thats what got us here...
@6:30 If you accept any part of the unconstitutional socialist system, you've surrendered the moral high ground to Stark and the other parasites. You can't fight power if you're delusional...
@pleasewaittovoteagai "socialism: an economic theory or system in which the means of production, distribution, and exchange are owned by the community collectively, usually through the state"....... do you own your own fire truck? why should my tax dollars go toward putting your house out and getting your family out? that my friend is, by very definition, socialism.
In 2014 when people are finally able to be fined (under statutes that violate the Constitution) for not buying health insurance, I expect mass bloodshed against police trying to arrest poor people for not directly purchasing a product they didn't want.

If somebody is bleeding to death, I don't give a damn if he or she can "prove" US citizenship prior to getting emergency care. What if there is no proof? What would you do, deny a dying person the care that would save his or her life? No, I don't think so.
What's your point? Illegals are not refused emergency medical care in the United States - that's the law. And some of us actually uphold the law rather than pick and choose which ones we agree with. But once the illegal alien patient recovers, then what? Let them continue to live here on the taxpayers dime, or send them back to their own country where they were born and are a citizen?
My point was that I think (and I really hope I'm wrong, but after 47 years of observing people in a small town, I'm not so sure) some "good american people" would really be indifferent if such things actually happened. And the vast majority of migrant workers I've seen (I don't know how many of them were undocumented, or if any of them were) are usually working like dogs and probably not earning much. And if a patient recovers, the usual procedure is to release him, yes.
So do you believe that we should just abolish our borders and let anyone from anywhere come to America as long as they "work like dogs"? Have you 'observed' what this rationalization has done to states such as California?
Isn't that the idea of this country? Come here, work hard, live a decent life and you'll find happiness. And I didn't know anything had been "done" to California. Does the immigrant governor know about this?
- Schwarzenegger is a LEGAL immigrant, a fact you illegal alien supporters ALWAYS omit. He is no longer Gov.
- The idea is to come here LEGALLY, work hard & excel. Not undercut American workers, steal SS #s & bleed the social system dry with children and elderly relatives, etc.
- Come to California. Many cities here resemble 'third world' countries.
- We haven't even touched on I/A criminals, which make up 32% of prison population.
That breeze you just felt was my point sailing right over your head. What I said about the governor of California was supposed to be a joke, my friend. But tell me honestly, if all the undocumented workers who are supposedly bleeding the system dry were to magically transform into "legal" immigrants all of a sudden, would you be satisfied then, or would you raise some other issue? I mean the same number of immigrant folks we have now, except they'd all be legal. Honestly, now.
> No - I'm not up for amnesty - we tried that in 1986.
> "Supposedly bleeding the system"? You said you lived in a small town. I suggest that you try coming to a large city such as San Diego, LA or San Francisco. California has become multi-lingual, multi-cultural hell run by multi-liberal idiots. We're the brokest, most screwed-up state in the union. Sounds like you would ID with them though - you have the right attitude.
I also thought that a multi-lingual and multi-cultural civilization was another thing we were aspiring to; it certanly is in my opinion. I visited San Francisco once about 2 years ago, and it looked pretty much peaceful and clean to me. Plus I got to meet many different people, taste a lot of new exotic foods, and that was great (and the Golden Gate Bridge is beautiful) But what you're saying I guess is that if they were all legal tomorrow, you'd still hate them, is that right?
You're an asshole for labeling me "hateful". What a jerk. So you go to the Golden Gate Bridge and all is good - huh? Try hanging in some of the neighborhoods where illegals live. I doubt that you'd find the gangs peaceful and clean. You should have come to Oakland - just across the bay. I guess you haven't heard the latest news from Europe either. Multiculturalism does NOT work. One nation-one language. Why do they come here if they don't want to assimilate & become Americans?
Well, I'm only responding to your attitude; it seems pretty hateful to me. You need to step back and put this into some kind of perspective. There are lots of low-income areas in cities all over the US, quite a few of which have high-crime rates and gang violence. I've never seen any proof that either of those two conditions had ANY direct correlation to immigration status. And multiculturism not only works, it's a cornerstone of this country. It's part of what we are.
Oh, I see. In your eyes, people who want immigration laws enforced are racists. What about all the people who wait in line for years, going through the process to legally become citizens? The hell with them in your book I guess. In modern times, people who come the the USA need to offer us something besides strong backs and poverty, such as education & ideas that will benefit our society. Multiculturalism equals a "salad bowl", not the "melting pot" we are proud of.. Ask the British.
No, I never said that regarding immigration laws, and in my view, everyone is welcome to come here and try to make an honest and fulfilling life. And I'm certainly not in favor of deporting people who may not have legal immigration status. Also, nobody needs to offer anything to the country except the promise to abide by it's laws and do the best they can. You can't pick and choose your kind of immigrants, but many immigrants have advanced this country in many ways.
So you don't want to know WHO is here and you don't care how MANY. Is 100 million/year OK with you? Just anyone - no job prospect, no means of support - nothing? Who will pay for this? Are you willing to let a family who escaped from Iran come live in your house? How serious are you?
I own a business. When I hire someone into my company, I choose the one who can best serve my clients. That's just smart business. Why should it be any different with legal immigration? Wake up.
You need to chill out a little, man, you sound like you're about to blow a gasket. Totaly hysterical. Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean I'm asleep, I just have a different opinion. And btw, how serious are you? You really expect 100 million people to immigrate here annually? Lastly, most immigrants come here with no prospects, that's one of the reasons WHY they come here; and most of them work hard at the lowest paying jobs available (the ones we won't do).
If we declared the country totally open to all who could find their way here, you bet the numbers would dramatically increase. My question to you was "how many is OK with you"? The LEGAL immigrants I know are educated & willing to assimilate into our society. The illegals drastically undercut the American working class. It's a new form of slavery, or did that one slip past you? "Jobs we won't do" is pure BS and outdated propaganda.
Well, I'm just responding to the way you're expressing yourself; if you prefer, I won't do it anymore. I don't have some kind of figure in mind regarding immigration, but I don't see where the country is in danger of "overflowing". I welcome most anyone who wants to come here and contribute something positive to this society, and with each new immigrant, I believe we advance our society. Lastly, most undocumented workers most certainly DO take jobs most of us won't; they have to.
We do need people to work here, especially with our birth rate down. Illegals have the construction, automotive, manufacturing, restaurants & fast food places covered in major cities, just to mention a few. Stores like Costco & Walmart use them to stock shelves/clean. Those are jobs that blue collar Americans want for sure. But we are being undercut. As more people enter the country to "work", American's quality of life sinks because our wages go down. We can't sustain this flood.
"Covered"? How do you know that? I see both immigrants and indigenous people working at all those jobs around here (I live in Florida, btw). I've seen an overwhelming amount of caucasian (presumably indigenous american) workers in Walmarts everywhere. Seems like there's enough jobs around in those categories for everyone. I'll tell you where I do see tons of recent immigrants working: jobs like fruit picking, sod-slinging, and sanitation where they earn next to zero.
Florida might be good for now, but stand by. I live in a border state & I'm telling you, they have moved into ALL the trades by undercutting Americans. What about the "American Dream" for us?
The govt turns its back to illegal immigration, people flood into the country only to be taken advantage of by unscrupulous business owners who get the "cheapest" people they can. An new form of slavery. The businesses are being subsidized by US - the taxpayers. And that's cool with you?
Well, just to clarify, Florida is home to a lot of immigrants from Cuba, Hispanola, and all over the Caribbean. As for the American Dream, I don't think such a thing exists outside of television. We just do the best we can. Lastly, no, I am most definately NOT cool with undocumented workers having to take the lowest paying jobs with the least attention to documentation and subsequently being horribly exploited by business owners. It's reprehensible.
Then you agree with me. Illegal immigration needs to stop so that the people that we allow to come to America do not have to live in shadows and be taken advantage of. That include gardeners & housekeepers which many people, not companies, hire with a "nod-nod wink-wink" attitude. The American Dream is something that we should all strive for-to leave America a better place than we found it. We are not heading in that direction. People won't care until it hits their bank accounts.
No, I agree that undocumented immigrant workers are exploited, I just disagree with you on the way to fight it. I believe that since there are so many people who just want to come here to make a better life for themselves and their families, we should make it easier for them to do that. If we loosen the laws a bit, unscrupulous business owners wouldn't have any threat to hold over their workers anymore. And If there is such a thing as an american dream, then it's for everyone.
As far as Multiculturalism, I used to embrace it. I really liked the whole thing in the '80s. Then it got out of control, especially in the large cities. Local & state govts seemed to care more about everyone else except American citizens. California is a mess - a HUGE mess. When I go to Costco, I'm lucky to hear anyone speak English. Every other language but. No Communication-it's gone. Political correctness (I also embraced) and entitlements are the root & well beyond reality.
Oh, so you like mulitculturalism as long as it kept to certain level of "them" as opposed to "us", is that pretty much it? And what is so great about the american version of the English language that makes it so appealing? I for one enjoy hearing exotic accents and languages, I think most of them are pretty. I've never had one instance where I had to walk away from a transaction or arrangement in this country due to a language barrier, and I'll bet you haven't either.
I'm not talking about accents. I'm talking about them speaking in their native tongue - Spanish, Chinese, Italian - whatever. I speak English - how about you? So you are OK with printing everything in every language under the sun to appease people who are suppose to be assimilating? That's what coming to America to become a CITIZEN means - assimilation to OUR culture - not us to theirs.
I wasn't writing specifically about accents either, I just alluded to the fact that I like most of them. As far as any "language barriers" go, I've never had any trouble with anything like that. The vast majority of people here seem to speak americanized english. And when everything is printed in every known language, I'll let you know what I think about it. Lastly, what you're not seeing is that immigrants ARE our culture; we're all descended from them, there is no "ours".
America has a "culture" just as any other established country. Yes we are all derived from immigrants, as any other country? I'm sick & tired of paying for all the extra paper work at the DVMs, elections material, etc. Not to mention pressing one for English. I have little recourse but to pay for things that I don't want to - my money is extorted from me and used how the govt sees fit - with very little effort put fort into border control or changing current immigration laws.
Sure we have a culture, a culture dervied from the influence of many cultures, and I for one am proud of that. Now, really, how much extra do you think you're paying for some forms to be printed in two languages? And pressing one for English? Yeah, that's a real pain, it almost landed me in the hospital once with a broken fingernail. And I for one am happy to pay a little out to help new immigrants feel welcome. I just don't see things here as catastrophic as you do.
@jerico641 Jerico641 likes to abuse young illegals because their parents are less likely to go to the police. He now feels threatened because tough new immigration laws will make it more difficult for him to "score."
@jerico641 yes they would. its sad. yet if their house catches on fire, they want it put out with our tax dollars no questions asked! when their daughters are being raped, what would they say if the police would only help them AFTER the prove they are a citizen? i dont see how someones gunshot wound being treated should be any different. whats really sad is that your comment was hidden due to too many neg votes. christian nation my ass! would jesus would want to see id before healing. lol.
Thanks for the support, I appreciate it, and your taking the time to respond to me. Since 9/11, I've never seen so much naked hate and bigotry in this country in all my previous life. Apparently, this guy "RadarGuidedVermin" is following me around and archiving my old comments and then flooding them with negative votes in order to eliminate them. I'm not sure why, I think I disagreed with him on an issue on here about a month ago. Well, thanks again fellow atheist!
@jerico641 why am i so not surprised that someone showing compassion toward other human beings that you dont even know regardless of the fact that they may be from a different culture than you just happens to be an atheist. that makes me smile. :) ill have to follow your comments and make sure that i vote them up!
Well, thanks very much, I'm certainly flattered, but please don't waste your time following my comments around; you'll get pretty bored lol. But I really appreciate the gesture.
This scum is an exact example of the kind of politicians that need to be dragged out of their office and sent to a work camp until they figure out they don't have a goddamn halo around their heads.
I wouldn't dignify you by peeing on your leg. I wouldn't waste the Urine. There are congressional intern's mouths I could pee my urine into at our New World Order rape the average American Satanist's meetings.
where the hell were these idiots and morons 10 years ago when Bush singlehandedly turned a surplus into a deficit!!!! In the 90's dems and republicans worked together to raise taxes and cut programs in order to create wealth, all gone due to the bush years.
Clearly, this old guy asking the question hasn't been paying attention. I'm glad we have congressmen like Stark to balance out all the morons in our voting population.
Congratulations, Pete, on your very impressive reelection victory - 72% WOW! There are still some intelligent voters around! The baggers didn't take you down, and you will be an island of sanity in the next Congress! We desperately need you !
Yeah, we tried free, open competition among private companies, and it led to monopolies and pricing that gouged the individual citizen unfairly. You're defending corporations' right to squeeze the average citizen to death. The government MUST get involved, just like it did with the railroads and the phone company, and try to regulate unfair business practices; I'm for it.
the proof of citizenship issue cant be done with the license check, ie some people lose it, forget it etc..... the emergency room of America is open to everyone, once. because we are compassionate people, and it's better to play life and death on the safe side.
What I generally heard was a bunch of people making conclusions of fact with zero supporting evidence. "President Obama's plan, he doesn't have a plan" The questioning starts with a prejudicial statement rather than a real question. the guy goes on to claim that no savings can be derived from cutting waste in medicare, and what does he base that conclusion on his magic 8 ball?
He should have required proof of citizenship before allowing questions. LMFAO
THIS CONGRESSMAN IS A DEGENERATE CAREER POLITICIAN WHO DOESN'T GIVE A FLYING FUCK ABOUT YOU. HE HAS EXCELLENT HEALTHCARE THAT IS SPECIAL FOR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES ONLY. HE WON'T BE SUBJECT TO THE COMING HEALTHCARE RATIONING. THOSE OLD FUCKS IN THE AUDIENCE WHO ACTUALLY SUPPORT THIS MAN DESERVE TO DIE IN A RAT INFESTED HOSPITAL.
"Drivers license" and "proof of citizenship kill off the state citizens... You need to realize that you are a defrauded 14th Amendment "subject" class citizen... The state citizen is outside this jurisdiction of the corporate fraud...
Guys like this need to get the Axe!! If everyone would come together to fire these moron incumbents maybe they'd get the point that americans are fed up with our elected REPRESENTATIVES, not elected dictators, and start doing more to address the needs and desires of the people and less of their own personal ambitions.
Well, I wouldn't think twice about taking a huge shit in Pete Stark's mouth...and finding people to hold his fat, ugly ass down while I do it wouldn't be a problem either!
its great how this old fogey gets up and thinks he's clever and says, "president obama's plan, he doesn't have a plan" and "smoke and mirrors" what is he david copperfield. So walter reid didn't have rats during president bush's administration? Republicans just love to criticize and use catch phrases.
Fat Cat he has his personal fortune he made for himself in addition to whatever the Govt pays him and will pay him for the rest of his life AND the benefits he receives and will receive for the rest of his life and wont have to pay a dime for! He doesn't give a shit about the people nor do 99.9% of the other politicians on Capital hill. All they are trying to do is get re-elected so they can continue to protect their fortune!
Good point Jhouse I've been thinking on that level for a long time now. All people have to do is follow the money trail and you begin to uncover folks real intentions. More often than not the politicians are selling you ice water with kool-aid!!!
Look at this guy - Does he care what he is creating in the United States? NO
This guy will be dead by the time things he is doing take effect!
This guy is obviously in the onset staged of brain failure, yet he still remains in Washington? A Pilot would be retired, Aa Doctor would be Retired, A Bus Driver would be Retired and at this stage of his life his Drivers License would be removed form hom. WHY IN THE HELL IS HE STILL IN WASHINGTON?
This guy is a complete IDIOT, but then again look at the District that he represents - They keep voting him back in and back in again and again..... ???
one of the reasons health care is out of control is because over half of the population is overweight....get out and exercise...get your @ss back into shape and like magic your health care costs will go down.....bbbbbut its genetic...its not my fault....bs....most people have only themselves to blame....
What is Stark doing when people are asking questions? Rolling up bits of paper in his hand and looking in the complete opposite direction, it seems. How rude.
I laugh at how he nods when someone brings something up. He just stands there and just takes it. Cannot answer anything. This is pathetic. I almost feel sorry for him. He is like on another planet
there is no reasoning with tea party protests. nothing to do but throw adhominems at them. i love pete stark. one of the crudest and more sincere politicians you will ever hear.
I am a registered nurse. Thus, I care for others. However, as much as I might want to care for everyone, it is not practical. Health care professionals are providing a "service". Therefore, the US government can't make me or any other health care provider provide care to those who do not pay for the service. Our current health care "system" is not the best it could be, because our government has imposed medi-cal Medicare, and other government sponsored healthcare plans upon private practices. W
Stark is a dumb@ss. The problem though is there are at LEAST 534 additional dumb@sses in the same town employed by us in the legislative branch of OUR government wasting our money and lives. Plus an additional untold number of idiots employed by us in the executive branch of our government.
And people wonder why the State of California is so f'ed up... They continue to elect total morons like this tool. No wonder their state is in shambles - they can't see that people like this so-called "public servant" are the biggest part of their problem. I find it unbelievable that semi-intelligent human beings can continue to send this idiot to Washington. Luckily (hopefully), he won't have a forum after November...
Stark is a dumb@ss. The problem though is there are at LEAST 534 additional dumb@sses in the same town employed by us in the legislative branch of OUR government wasting our money and lives. Plus an additional untold number of idiots employed by us in the executive branch of our government.
I CAN't IMAGINE ANY INTELLIGENT PERSON VOTING FOR THIS INDIVIDUAL IN THE FUTURE. HE IS JUST A DIRTY OLD MAN, WHO THINKS HE CAN DO WHAT EVER HE WANTS WITHOUT LISTENING TO THEM AND EVEN INSULTING THEM. HE SAYS IT VERY CLEARLY " I HAVE MY OWN OPINIONS ".WAKE UP HE WILL NEVER REPRESENT THE PEOPLE IN HIS DISTRICT.
@fmbhebrews111 I agree with you in part. We should not be forced to have coverage (despite the same thing being required from us by purchasing auto and home insurance). However, I am content to have an affordable option. I make too much money to be eligible for government assistance and don't make enough to pay for my own coverage (I don't have access to group coverage).
He has no clue, is out of touch with the voters, and think he has job security simply because he has been a career politician. What kind of politician talks to the people this way in a civil setting ?

With all due respect, sir, (@cvminutemen) your video is very, VERY slighted toward your or whomever's position. You edited this video to put Mr. Stark in a poor light (not agreeing with all of his positions). However, what loses the most respect is your edited-in comments such as, "Government setting the rates? How about leveling the playing field and FAIR competition." THAT is exactly what the healthcare plan is doing. Trying to provide middle-class losers like me with a FAIR competition.
@63IRISH63 Except after all insurance companies (many of which are non-profit) are shut down, there will be no competition and healthcare rationing. So, not only will you be paying more, you'll be getting less than you would for the same price. This model has been tried, and everywhere it's been tried, it has failed. But, I'm sure you'll blame that on Bush too and you'll sleep better at night.
@63IRISH63 Forcing (and that is what a healthcare "right" is doing) another (the doctors, nurses, etc.) to PROVIDE A SERVICE TO YOU is in violation of the 13th amendment. It is on the very face of it unconstitutional. Healthcare, despite political correctness, is NOT a right. If you want this service, pay for it like you do all others.
I don't like Stark or his progressive form of government. I want all like him out of office. The video is very straight forward. America is collapsing around us and Pete Stark was one of those behind the wheel for most of this destruction. What good do you see in him besides a 'free ride' paid for by others?
@63IRISH63 Where was it edited in such a manner? We heard everything the man had to say and then we heard Pete Stark's entire response. All contextual information is available here. You obviously think it is raining, but you smell like piss... with all due respect.
Arrogant, insulting, self important, elitist jerk deserves to be stripped of anything our tax dollars are paying for. This ass lives in comfort on our dime. Early immigrants made sacrifices, learned English, worked hard, built America, paid taxes etc and are to be respected for doing it with dignity. The law should read get elected, serve your country, then go back to the private sector and support the country with your labor. Hey Pete, why don't you start a company and create real jobs!
I think these people have forgotten who they WORK for!! If you are gonna hold public off, you gotta expect questions and criticism. Otherwise you don't live in a democracy. Stand the heat or get the hell out of the kitchen.
This and many other's elected to do the people's business, conduct themselves as if they are CEO of the district. It's waaaayyy past time for this guy to leave. When's he up for re-election?
@bigmuny02 It's to bad that on 9-11 that two of the planes did'nt hit the House and the Senate instead of the towers killing all the crooked politicians at that time so we can elect our Combat Veterans returning home from war.Usama Bin Laden would have been a hero for wasting these scumbags.Americans need to wake up and realize we have some of the most corrupt politicians on the planet.Lets vote them out and vote our Veterans in.They have proven their courage, loyalty and sacrifice.F*&K Stark.
You want the country to be led by combat veterans trained in firing machine guns and water-boarding innocent people? What qualification for balancing the budget does a tank operator have? You're a fucking idiot... I'd bet anything you're only here because you're a conservative Christian that hates Stark for being a non-believer.
@SpeakingSerpent Your just pissed off that you were kicked out of the Navy for the Dont ask Dont tell policy faggot. After WWII our country was led by our Veterans and back then we had jobs,a great GDP,people buying homes, good school's ETC.By the way I am an Atheist, I hate Stark because he is a coward like you.SpeakingSerpent ,sounds more like you R a hissing faggot. We Vets will B stomping the fuck out of pussies like you and the rest of the girlymen that have destroyed this country.Manup time!

Nice try...
cvminutemen 6 months ago
@cvminutemen That was a pointer to the basis of the whole thing. Did you think it was meant literally?
I tried to explain - I cannot force you to understand.
sternumagnum 6 months ago
@sternumagnum
TeaPartyTelevision 6 months ago
@TeaPartyTelevision Yes, Spending=Income, in Macroeconomics. Yes, Loans create Deposits, in the banking system. Yes, the federal bank can "conjure" money out of thin air. Yes, a bank is NEVER constrained by min.reserve requirements when giving out loans. Yes, "wild" spending by the government (too big a deficit) can lead to inflation.(Historically, inflation's never been caused by this, but never mind.)
These are all unshakeable, irrefutable facts derived from Natl Accounting rules. Sorry.
sternumagnum 6 months ago
@sternumagnum
TeaPartyTelevision 6 months ago
@TeaPartyTelevision That's exactly right. The private sector right now is cutting costs, laying off people and not doing much investing. In short, it is in (serious) deficit. And highly leveraged - priv.sector debt is enormous. In such a situation, trying to shift the government finances into SURPLUS is pure madness. Not from a political viewpoint but strictly accounting-wise. If the gov't continues to squeeze the pr.sector's wealth thru trying for surpluses we're heading for a (new) crash..
sternumagnum 6 months ago
@TeaPartyTelevision About the "loans-create-deposits" bit you dispute. You must think only the government controls the money supply, right?
Suppose the government targets some specific limit on some M at, say, $100 billion. And next day, Bigbank happroves a 2 billion dollars loan for your company Newbusiness Inc. You take all that money and deposit it in a checking account. You just bombed the government's M target! That's new money, "printed" the same way the Fed "prints" money.
sternumagnum 6 months ago
@TeaPartyTelevision You wrote "If they are allocating funds, it shouldn't be based upon raising the debt limit for funding." Here's how Macroeconomy works: The government creates "money" (deficit spending) out of thin air. Your tax money goes back to the same place : thin air. That's right, all the money you're giving the government you can consider as BURNED IN THEIR TRASHCAN. Govt spending&revenue is a simple flow of funds; not an amount of funds, per se. A budget is a prediction and no more.
sternumagnum 6 months ago
@sternumagnum
So what's the solution? Continue down the same road? Obama has outspent Bush by over 2 to 1, and Bush had outspent Clinton by 3 to 1. The reason the financial sector isn't lending is because they don't trust the politicians. Their also tired of govt intervention into everything. Until we see the govt toss stupid things like the ethanol subsidies and cut it's spending on actual "entitlements", NOBODY will have any confidence in them at all.
cvminutemen 6 months ago
@cvminutemen 1st, Obama's first year in office carried a 'Bush budget'! 2nd, Clinton inherited to GWB a surplus, which means the priv.sector LOST wealth and increased its indebtness - which was a major cause for the bad performance of US economy during Bush's first term. (And note I'm against most of Dubya's policies!)
3rd The banks are not lending because : they do not trust the ECONOMY; there not many creditworthy customers out there; and many corporations themselves don't want more debt!
sternumagnum 6 months ago
@cvminutemen The solution out from the crisis is totally clear, in modern monetary theory terms:
The private sector is in deficit; the CA is in deficit (more dollars go out from the US than coming in); ergo, the government sector HAS to go into deficit! And persistently so. If the government cuts spending or increases taxes at this point we'll have inevitably a contraction of the private sector's wealth. And that's a statement above and beyond politics. It's arithmetic. It's accounting.

subzerohero111 7 months ago

SuperAthiest1 7 months ago
@SuperAthiest1 something being POSSIBLE doesnt make it PROBABLE. yes its possible, but its much better for that to be POSSIBLE than our tax dollars definitely going to support illegal immigrants who leach off our society. thats y i want ppl to be identified. the cases of people NOT being identified are very few, so its not such an issue that the whole country has to suffer.
subzerohero111 7 months ago
@subzerohero111 remember that when it is your loved one then. maybe you could live with the knowledge that they could have been saved...... i could not. why not admit them and treat them while detained untill they can prove that they are a citizen? if it is found that they arnt then they could be deported. that would end their leaching for good, and the government could seize their property that was illegaly obtained for auction to pay their bill and deportation costs. noone has to die then.

If somebody is bleeding to death, I don't give a damn if he or she can "prove" US citizenship prior to getting emergency care. What if there is no proof? What would you do, deny a dying person the care that would save his or her life? No, I don't think so.
jerico641 11 months ago
@jerico641

And if a patient recovers, the usual procedure is to release him, yes.
jerico641 11 months ago

@jerico641
You have just enough knowledge to be dangerous...

Well, I'm only responding to your attitude; it seems pretty hateful to me. You need to step back and put this into some kind of perspective. There are lots of low-income areas in cities all over the US, quite a few of which have high-crime rates and gang violence. I've never seen any proof that either of those two conditions had ANY direct correlation to immigration status. And multiculturism not only works, it's a cornerstone of this country. It's part of what we are.
jerico641 11 months ago
@jerico641

I own a business. When I hire someone into my company, I choose the one who can best serve my clients. That's just smart business. Why should it be any different with legal immigration? Wake up.

It's reprehensible.
jerico641 11 months ago

I'm not talking about accents. I'm talking about them speaking in their native tongue - Spanish, Chinese, Italian - whatever. I speak English - how about you?

"President Obama's plan, he doesn't have a plan" The questioning starts with a prejudicial statement rather than a real question. the guy goes on to claim that no savings can be derived from cutting waste in medicare, and what does he base that conclusion on his magic 8 ball?

Look at this guy - Does he care what he is creating in the United States? NO
This guy will be dead by the time things he is doing take effect!
This guy is obviously in the onset staged of brain failure, yet he still remains in Washington? A Pilot would be retired, Aa Doctor would be Retired, A Bus Driver would be Retired and at this stage of his life his Drivers License would be removed form hom. WHY IN THE HELL IS HE STILL IN WASHINGTON?

I am a registered nurse. Thus, I care for others. However, as much as I might want to care for everyone, it is not practical. Health care professionals are providing a "service". Therefore, the US government can't make me or any other health care provider provide care to those who do not pay for the service. Our current health care "system" is not the best it could be, because our government has imposed medi-cal Medicare, and other government sponsored healthcare plans upon private practices. W

63IRISH63 1 year ago
@63IRISH63 Except after all insurance companies (many of which are non-profit) are shut down, there will be no competition and healthcare rationing. So, not only will you be paying more, you'll be getting less than you would for the same price. This model has been tried, and everywhere it's been tried, it has failed. But, I'm sure you'll blame that on Bush too and you'll sleep better at night.
SmokingBomber 1 year ago
@63IRISH63 Forcing (and that is what a healthcare "right" is doing) another (the doctors, nurses, etc.) to PROVIDE A SERVICE TO YOU is in violation of the 13th amendment. It is on the very face of it unconstitutional. Healthcare, despite political correctness, is NOT a right. If you want this service, pay for it like you do all others.
fmbhebrews111 1 year ago

I don't like Stark or his progressive form of government. I want all like him out of office. The video is very straight forward.
