  • I have this condition and im fine but 14 years old. Should i go ahead and get this surgery to prevent valve replacement in the future and are you sore afterwards?

  • I found out about this last summer. I remain active almost everyday..play soccer, run, and skate.im am fit and have only noticed being easily tired. Just posting this to tell my experience so far.

  • Thank-you for this video. I'm sad that the FDA has not yet approved such repairs in the U.S. I'm 27 and found out when I was 25. Changed my life.

  • @matthewcguenther - This is an approved surgery and done quite frequently at Cleveland Clinic. In 2010, we performed 1753 aortic valve operations. 5 % were valve repairs and 4 % were valve-sparing operations. If you want more information - please contact us at heartcenter@ccf.org.

  • @matthewcguenther I was born with Aortic Stenosis.

  • The bicuspid aortic valve is the most common congenital heart defect. It is estimated to exist in 1 to 2 % of the population, predominating in males.

  • i´ve got this too, since I was born. I´m 26 now.

  • i have it found out at i3

  • i have it! i found out wen 5

  • About 6 weeks ago i was diagnosed with a BAV. After 18 months of being symptomatic with chest pain and shortness of breath while in the gym, at work and cycling, i am seeing the cardiac surgeon this afternoon to find out what can be done, i am hoping a repair can be done and i can carry on with what was my very active lifestyle, crapping my pants though.

  • arghh damnit, i found out the other day i have a biscupid aortic valve. And i'm 19... i don't want to have that done :( paaaiiinnn :'(

  • i'm 27 and havnt had any problems with my BAV yet. I know a lot about it if you want some info

  • please tell me about it i have this prob.

  • please tell me about it am 18 and have this thing when i should do this surgery

  • @darwishish i am also 18 and was diagnosed with this yesterday. As long as you remain asymptomatic, a surgery will be far in your future. It could be 30-40 years from now.

  • Next time you visit your doctor or cardiologist ask about acending aortic anerysum. I had a BAV and it was great but an anerysum will sometimes accompany a BAV. That's what got me! Surgery really isn't all that bad.

  • I love that you've posted this. I am your biggest fan!
