I swore into the Air Force last December. I am awaiting active duty. I fortunately have the cahnce to resign for jobs. I have been urged by friends of mine to stay out and write a book and write music and inspire others. I will not be crushed if the Air Force decides they do not need me. A touching song with a strong message. Thank you.
Doug, I could write a book. Some people will never understand, and some will never care. And mean while life goes on...waiting for the next trigger, the next opportunity to self medicate by those who suffer from this horrible reality that has taken hold so deep within their soul and their brain. They are all around us, if we care to look, as I know you have. Once again my friend, spot on.
One of my favorites by yours mate, aint it strange how songs that deal with real issues often fall short of the praise the deserve. PTSD is very very very real and often it's seldom diagnosed to those whom need it most.
This song brings back alot of memerys...I was just glad when it was over in 1974...they all got to come home...never to be the same...my friends were lost to me for ever...cause they weren't the same...and some didn't come back at all...lost to us forever....when we ever learn...we're still at it...
Doug, you have a gentle style that communicates volumes on difficult subjects. Thank you for your kindness and compassion. We need more awareness on this epidemic of war. Liz
War is pain and wounds. Do not remember sitting in the warm homes in front of their PCs. Is so much suffering in the world. This is a great song. Thank you, Doug.
Doug: You just never come up with a bad one! I love your songs, and so glad you sing for us.I have to give you 5*again, because you are so sweet and kind. Carol
This is so sad and touches deep in the soul My brother-in-law suffers with the after life facts from the war, memories in his mind that will never Stop! He wakes up screaming reliving the killings and the horrible things that our solders go through. We can't even image what they went through and live after the facts! God Bless them all
This song was very moving...brought me to tears. I pray for our soldiers, their families are suffering so. The soldiers fight for our freedom, for us to have peace...what do they get in return?! Alot of wounded, disabled vets... they can't even get health insurance!! That's bull!! All of our soldiers should have free healthcare for the remainder of their lives. Land of the free, home of the brave...American creed they say? Well don't forget those who made it possible..."don't forget our soldiers".
Wonderful!! This actually brought tears to my eyes. We teach kids How to kill, then Send them out to kill, Make them watch their buddies get wounded, maimed or killed and Bring them back here as though nothing out of the ordinary happened. After spending the first 18 yrs of their lives telling them killing is wrong. Can you say dichotomy? Peace.
WAR will only leave us RAW. To kill your enemy only creates more enemies. Why can't the world grasp this simple fact? Thanks as always for sharing your soul with the world. I just wish there were more like us. May the light of Love always shine upon your path.
My dear friend no2hate sent me here Doug and I'm glad he did mate, a wonderful and heartfelt song to end my day with. Thank you for this beautiful and true song mate! All the stars to you my friend! Mark
Thanks for sharing. My husband suffered PTSD for many years. This song is very touching and important. Many blessings...Elizabeth Thanks for the share Eric.
What a powerful song. It's so sad how many soldiers are returning with serious PTSD that they will struggle with for years, or perhaps their whole life. And for what? Peace.
Doug, this is a beautiful way to raise awareness to this prevalent killer of so many wonderful sensitive people. Thank you for using your voice to wake people up. Liz
My father served in the Second world war. I didn't know what was wrong when he came home I just knew he wasn't right. I look back now and I realize he was suffering from Post Tramatic stress disorder. Wars kill more than just the people at the front.
In order to kill another human we have to be messed up in the head. Psychopaths do it. Narcissistic personalities do it. Decent people have to mess up the mind to do it.
great video great message 5 stars for you this video kinda hits home not with me but with hubby. ginmillsinger, my friend you are so right! i agree with all that you said!
You have such an amazing connection between your music and the world. You manage to reach out in just the right way and magically connect with the thing you're after, sort of like building a bridge between two points. As a listener, I am moved to be traveling across that bridge when I hear your songs.
Beautiful, thoughtful and personal You are an exceptional songwriter and singer. You have tapped into how so many of our returning troops must feel Thank you so much for this song. Robby
Oh Doug, you are absolutely one of the best songwriters I've heard in a long time, and you have the most warmest voice and sincerest delivery I've hear in any artist in a long, long time. Peace to you my friend and sincerely look forward to getting to know you even better. Mark
They called it 'Shell Shock' in WWII. PTSD doesn't just affect our Brave Service men and women. It can afflict anyone whose mental capacities and sensibilities have been exceeded.
'Mental Illness' needs to be understood. These extended duties, our troop's are serving, are truly causing damage. There's no doubt about that!
Great Video!
God bless our troop's in harms way, and their family's!
The incredible evil perpetuated by our leaders, will some day come to rest on their shoulders. NO ONE escapes the wrath and the wake of bad deeds. Sad video...but very true. 5 stars
God bless you , Omer Bhatti

Surely one of the great crimes of war
is what it does to our beautiful young people,
turning them into damaged killers
when they should be carefree lovers.
