  • dude the end result was beast

  • Wow, this was sooooooo helpful, thanks'O'ton

  • so when you do the decals do tou need to paint them or are they sort of a stiker ?? thx nice vid

  • @backinblack19 The decals are stickers and you add them to the outside of the body when you're finished painting it.

  • can u paint me a body the exact same way thats exactly what im looking for i just dont have a well enough skill level yet

  • is that the hancho or the dingo truck

  • hey what is the wheelbase? Is it 11.4" or 12.3"

  • Hi. Do you know if this body will fit a Kyosho Rock Force? If not then can you suggest which scale trail truck body will look good on KRF. Thanks.

  • very helpful thanks for the tips man

  • could you make a video painting the Chevy Blazer Crawler Body w/ Roll Cage

  • Comment removed

  • what other bodies would you reccomend for the car? does the axial have the same mount postions as the HPI shells?

  • wow very nice job. you do great work

  • excellent.

  • how did you build the window glass mask ? (white pieces)

  • nice

  • Paint Then Trim?

I Mark The Wheel Wells And Body Post With A Sharpie Before I Paint. But I Paint Before I Trim. I Like To Have That Extra Lexan To Hold Onto And Move The Body Around As I Paint.

  • Everybody has their own way of painting a lexan body. The reason I do it this way is I've scratched paint on bodies trimming after it's painted. Also It's just easier for me to do all the mounting and lining up while the body is still clear...Especially if the body wasn't made for the chassis I'm putting it on and I don't have the guide holes to help me out. - Jay

  • That's True About The Scratching.

I Like To Just Mark My Holes And Wheel Wells And Design With A Sharpie. Then tape Up The Bottom. Then I Take A Razor Blade And Edge Out The Design Pealing Off The Extra Tape.

I Like The Drawing The Design With A Sharper On The Outer Part So I Can See Kinda What Its Going To Look Like. And If I Wanna Change Like Flames Or Something Nail Polish Remover Erases It. And After Taking That Protective Film Off All The Marked Are Gone

  • will it fit a black foot xtreme

  • I have no clue... What is the wheel base of your black foot?

  • Scale: 1/10

  • 11 inches?

  • whats the window masking for? Can you use the window stickers or are they for different things?

  • the window masking is to cover up the windows when you are painting. If you didn't do this the windows would be body colored and you wouldn't be able to see through them. - Jay

  • is this the hpi defender for the savage

  • yes it can fit it.

  • Thanks for the post! Im painting my 68' Camaro SS tonite. First attemp at this. Im shootin all in black so i think I can handle it :O)

  • how do you paint the door cuts with black paint? its to thin to mask please help me

  • You use a Sharpie "extra fine point marker" to detail the door and hood gaps. It's very easy and very effective. - Jay

  • Dishwash SOAP to clean the body before painting, NOT dishwash detergent... two VERY different things.

  • I wondered if anyone was going to catch my brain fart! Yes, you probably don't want to wash your lexan body with some Cascade!!

  • Hey nice vid helps alot!!

but i was wondering if you put the masking on the whole body?

  • I pretty much masked the entire body. They only part I didn't mask were the fender flares.

  • cool thanks!

  • excellent video. thanks for posting

  • i have painted 2 bodys and i always paint then trim

  • that body is huge i have the hpi jeep wrangler and i cant seem to mont it and the 1.9 wheels are as big as the fender flairs

  • I think this video was great. It was really cool to see and hear the step by step process and explanation.

  • isnt that the body you used in the video of the 1/16 e-revo jumping 2 jeeps??

  • Actually the 1/10 Scale Jeep in that video is My Tamiya CC-01 Jeep Wrangler.

  • what to if the body is already with widows masking on if i will wash it it wont come off

  • I would try to remove the window masking. A razor blade should help you get the edge of the masking started and then just be as gentle as possible. If thats not an option I would use wet paper towels to clean it up as much as possible, then dry it well.-Jay

  • Good Job Man What paint are you using?

  • I used a mix of Tamiya and Pactra (race finish) Polycarbonate/Lexan paints. These are both great for Lexan.-Jay

  • I recommend the Tamiya spray cans over the Pactra spray cans. Tamiya paint give you better coverage with less coats and has a much better nozzle. The Pactra nozzle always clogs on me. I never have that problem with the tamiya cans.

  • What brand/type of paint do you guys @AtomicMods recommend for painting Lexan bodies? Thanks in Advance! Good info

  • very nice craftsmanship

  • super clean thanks for the ideas

  • con you people do a video of painting a mini-z? that would be very helpful since it's harder

  • I would like to do some of these, but we're not set up for styrene type painting. We would need to get an airbrush setup for the best results and I'm not sure when or if we'll be doing that.-Jay

  • thanks by the way good bodyshell

  • nice job worth subscribing to you

  • thats a really good looking body, nice paint job

  • wow :D smart! Looks a bit flimsy though?

  • Lexan Body shells are quite thin, but very durable. This keeps the center of gravity down low and on a rock crawler thats a good thing.-Jay
