@ golddustwoman - That clip is from the episode featuring Maureen O'Hara as the MG, in 1959. It's a rare on-camera display of affection between Martin and Arlene, but an adorable one!
You've made such marvellous videos! I was wondering, the clip where Martin kisses Arlene's hand, do you know which episode that is? It would seem I've watched so many and have yet to come across it.
How ironic and awful that she sucumbed to Alzheimer's disease.. a horrible, horrible disease; hopefully a predictable diagnose, a cure or at least an effective treatment shall be discover soon..
Do you have the full shows/movies from which the clips at :47, 1:46, and 2:30 are taken, and if so can you please upload them? I have never seen them before.
@americanidol510 Hi! I do have them on my laptop, which is being repaired, but I promise to upload as much as I can, as soon as possible. Thank you so much! :)
:50 is from the "Egg Farmers" segment on 1/29/1961, and 2:11 is from when Arlene's son (Peter Gabel, then 17 years old) appeared as a mystery guest on 7/5/1964. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video, and would be happy to answer any other questions you might have about the clips. :)
@cargrave10 Did you mean the one where Martin gives Arlene a kiss on the hand? That is from Maureen O'Hara's MG appearance, on 12/27/1959. (LOVE that episode!) No need to apologize...I hope this is the clip you were asking about! :)
I remember seeing Arlene host and sing in a show called "Soldier Parade..." She had a lovely singing voice... are there any singing clips of her available?
When I was sick and thus had to stay home from school, I often watched Miss Francis' show, "Home..." A few years later in college some of my friends and I would watch her on the John Daly edition of What's My Line...
I also saw her in the movie, "One, Two, Three..."
Yes, memories... they can't taken them away from us
@mortonbelcher How lucky you are! I'm not sure if any kinescopes of Soldier Parade were ever kept, but I've always wanted to see it. There is a very short clip of her singing on the Blind Date radio episode that is up here on YT, and a few snippets from WML - she had such a pretty singing voice, even though she didn't consider herself a singer. Thank you so much for sharing some of your memories of Arlene!
what a labor of love it must have been to put this together. she was my favorite WML panelist. The song you chose is perfect. this brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing it.
@JamesinNY You are very welcome! Arlene is definitely my favorite, too, and though this video was a very emotional one to do (and took the better part of a month to put together), I'm happy to be able to share it. :)
I've just seen her in What's my Line but I gotta say that I totally love your tribute, it's very touching even for me that I don't know very much about her and the song is so cute too =) Good job
@Rena1934 She was fantastic on WML, and I would highly recommend "One, Two, Three" or "The Thrill Of It All," if you haven't seen either of those yet - she's really good in both. Thank you so much for your kind words! :)
I'd love to know from where is the footage at 0.42 and the one at 2.28?
What can I say about your video, it's simply charming, I've got the biggest grin on my face, and of course all those mixed feelings inside of joy and sorrow, but I'm sure she had a marvelous life, she really was a gift from God to us...and even now after a decade, she still makes new generations happy with her presence behind the screen. She will always be alive if we keep her memory alive! Thank you for your tribute Molly!
@spacedream27 Hi! Thank you so much! :42 (with the blue dress) is from a 1984 episode of Scarecrow and Mrs. King ("Double Agent") that Arlene guest starred in, and 2:28 is from the NBC 60th Anniversary special in May 1986. I agree, Arlene was absolutely a gift, and the world is a better place for her having been in it. The best tribute of all is that all of us still enjoy everything that she did, and I'm sure that would make her incredibly proud.
She is so beautiful and I find it wierd how much she looks like Helen Mirren! Both ladies are beauties with a lot of class
