i saw them in 2009 i think, in Quebec. That was the same solist, and he did his AAAaaaaAAAaaaAAA for at least a whole minute (without breathing - of course). That was very  very long. In the audience people were just getting crazy ))

Yes, looks like that. He has an anchor on his "furashka" and the rest has the star (still symbol of the army in Russia) on it. He is 3rd rank Captain - Kapitan tret'ego ranga / like Major of the land forces or air forces. Also see the Andrew's cross (saltire) on his left arm - ensign of the russian navy..

This is doubtless one of the greatest Russian songs ever composed, and it is also symbolic. When somebosy speaks of Russian songs, Kalinka is probably one of the first to be remembered. And all performances of it by Aleksandrov is worthy to be watched.
