  • it is wonderful that your're doing that but try not to touch him so much

  • Epic Fish

  • Where is punch now?? Is he still alive?? Post a new video!! :-)

  • I remember a long time ago, sometimes when I am bored I stick some fish food on my fingers then I'd let the fish come and nibble them off. The biggest and oldest of all my fish, Golby, was the one that would usually be first. He nibbles so hard! lol I miss my fish *sighs* RIP

  • You shouldn't pet goldfish because it's not good for their slime coat.

  • i miss my oranda like that, he was dying so i had to shoot him in the head with a bb gun.

  • @BerkeleyBuilt You're meant to kill goldfish humanely by wrapping them up and hitting them against something hard...

  • Theyre full of personality, I have 2 pretty young but amazing!

  • Lucky!

  • lucky bastard my two orandas goldfish dont do that im jelous well maybe couse their small but its fun fedding them in hand

  • hahah! i do that to my dad's oranda goldfish too! :D

  • what filter do u have

  • My oranda's very young and I'm already seeing stuff like this.

NO I CAN'T GIVE YOU SNUGGLIES I NEED TO CLEAN THE FILTER.

  • This is really bad for their slime coat. The oils on your skin break it down. I have one that tries to swim into my hand every chance he get, but I don't let him.

  • I bet he/she really enjoys getting a nice rest and massage

  • Aw. How nice :)

  • I have a pretty large Oranda that I rescued when no one else wanted him, but now I am worried about how best to keep him happy! Do they like company? Should I get him a couple of little buddies or are they territorial?

He definitely thinks he is one of the family and loves all the attention he gets :) But I do struggle with keeping his water clean, it just ALWAYS seems cloudy no matter what I do!

    Advice would be appreciated! :)

    c

  • @scelestustempestas Yes, they like company, but other goldfish due to them being cold water fish.

  • Only Oranda's do this? Can any other breed of goldfish do this?

  • ur removing his whole slime coat a protectionagainst diseases and for a healthy immune system and why is his fins cut ?

  • Do you have to clean your hands before putting it in there?

  • i have a baby oranda! i hope he does this when he is older

  • this is thee best shit ever. though i must say that the only thing i can think of when i listen to this is a clockwork orange, bahah.

  • can you have one in a 10 gallon

  • @fuucat115 nope.

  • @fuucat115 yes i have 3 so i should know

  • @fuucat115 but only 1 - 2 at most

  • Wow ! So Cool !

  • nice, when i first saw that hand i was like "oh no another idiot with their master hand is going to do something stupid" but wow this is amazing good stuff

  • awwww cuteeeeee

  • He's cool :)

  • so cute ^_^.

  • i want one of these helllllllla bad i saw a dark grey one i wanted

  • So sweet. <3 My oranda (a deep-bodied red and white) is also very trusting, altho I´ve never tried to do that. He also follows my hand and has no problem with being touched. My other one, (a more regular looking fantail, with a slight wen on top of her head) hates any attention. She doesn´t even like being looked at and hides if you look at her too long. The complete opposite of my red and white.

  • You give your fish what he needs you give your time for him he's alone with all that free space without danger from predator .

He loves you because u r the right person who give evrything he needs 100% exactly

  • @flatroncup no the fish is demented, that's why.

  • How did u train ur fish? Plz tell me sub and liked.

  • my sister has 2 goldfish, we got 1 from a game at the fair (surprisingly he has been living 2 years so far) and we got the other 1 like 4 months ago.... i dont really know goldfish breeds since my type fish i LOVE r bettas, but i was cleaning out the goldfish's tank (because my stupid sister overfed them) and the (i think it's a comet goldfish) came up to me and i pet him, and my mom walked over and was like "WHAT ARE YOU DOING! you cant pet the fish! did you wash your hands before??

  • Thats some creepy shit u got there...but nice fish^^

  • Thats some creepy shit u got there...but nice fish^^

  • Nice goldfish girl fish

  • I have a baby oranda who loves human contact. I don't stroke him because of the precious slime they need to protect them from sharp objects. But he does love to nibble my little finger and swim into my hand.

  • Punch is super, super cool. I have a red cap Oranda that is totally enthralled with people and everything outside the tank. Hopefully he develops into a healthy, demanding cute little fatface like Punch! Punch is awesome. :D

  • thats friggin adorable

  • im going to try to pet my piranah now

  • watching this makes me miss my red oranda

  • TALK TO THE HAND

  • I think thats a lion head or a ranchu

  • That is so cool! :)

  • he has something on his body at 1:00 what is it, and touching him isnt good for him

  • OMG*** he's so cute and tame he doesn't has scared ..you're so lucky to have a fish like this BYE!! :3

  • nice fish

  • did you train it to do that? Or is just really liking your hand? it must be comfortable if it keeps coming back.

  • this is amazing i <3 it it fills me w/ joy!

  • Once my calico Oranda gets older I'll see if she does this :D

  • soooo cuuute :)

  • This is why I miss having a fancy goldfish tank. They are highly social animals, so it's not very surprising that they desire touch. I remember how it was trying to clean a tank with three little goldfish that wanted to play ^_^

  • people thinking thhis is bad, just think that many fish scrap them selfs along the sand to scratch an to get small pests of them, this fish might just find his owner doing it for him is a lot more pleaseing :D

  • He likes to be massaged and

    cuddled!

  • its so cute:) i have an oranda but i wouldnt touch because it small and fragile

  • wow. awesome. I didn't even know you could pet goldfish.

  • The habit punch displays seems to be a characteristic of the Oranda. They have very special needs. They are very unique in that they need a higher level of maintenance to keep the water and tank conditions in acceptable conditions. When you notice that the conditions are sub-par; it is too late For the well being of the fish . BUt yes - this breed seems to be especially skewed to curiousity and accepting - wanting human communication =

  • @eric2601 ya i put my finger in my tank and they come nibble them but they swim away when i try to touch there body but there only babies how can i make them feel ok so i can touch them?

  • @eric2601 Would using a protein skimmer be advisable for an Oranda?

what would say are better tank sizes for this type?

  • @Breewilly yes you can petted them

  • NEVER TOUCH YOUR GOLDFISH

  • actually there is no sound reason that you should not - there ase a lot of misconceptions regarding this issue. Trust me - I would do absolutely nothing in any way if - after great analysis and research - there could be the slightestr chance of damage or harm resulting from anything I would do to these fine specimans of nature's beauty

  • Hey your Gold fish looks so cute..

  • Thank you so much for your nice comment

  • That's AMAZING and Adorable and just ajdskfl;akdfjfdkl; TOO CUTE! <3

That decides it! I'm gonna get a goldfish and an oranda at that! =]

I have a question though, how big of a tank should I get (i hear it's 20 gallons or something like that) and are they soicail or can I keep mine all by itself? =]

  • sent you a private message

  • ok!

  • Cute fish and he likes being petted so stress isn't an issue peoplez

  • that will kill them because ti rubs of their natural layer of mucus

  • that's only if their stressed or have any injuries. >.>

  • I love my orandas, too! I have five, but they don't do this sort of this, just bumping my arm with their heads.

    I love their puffy cheeks!

  • pUNCH STARTED WHEN HE WAS 6 WEEKS OLD GOING AFTER OUR FINGERS IN THE SOIL WHEN i WOULD WORK ON PLANTS. Older ones may be trying to get ur attention - stick out ur little finger and make a jesture - dont force it see what they do - also do you hand feed under the water?

  • @eric2601 No, I don't hand feed my goldfish. I might start though after seeing this if that's what you do, haha. I have a green spotted puffer in another tank that I hand feed shrimp to.

  • hand feeding serves a few purposes - it allows interaction, creating a calmer demeanor when you are doing work within the tank, allows feeding under the water surface lessoning the chances of overintake of air which is kown to cause issues, lets you identify early on those that may be lethargic or ill, and gives you an opportunity to closely examine the body for signs of infection disease or damage from fighting or makeing you aware of some rough place in the tank to repair.

  • I see you have a great bond with your fish

that is soo cool i have two orandas i bought on wed but they are soo small and fighsty they run away! LOL

  • que legal

  • Hehe so adorable! I'd be wary of accidently scraping off the slime coat protecting his scales though.. My oranda likes to kiss my fingertips :)

  • I agree! Even though this is a very cute video, important slime is being removed from the fish. This slime is very important to these fragile fish. But, great video and beautiful Oranda. I have a few that look just like that one.

  • actually there is no sound reason that you should not - there ase a lot of misconceptions regarding this issue. Trust me - I would do absolutely nothing in any way if - after great analysis and research - there could be the slightestr chance of damage or harm resulting from anything I would do to these fine specimans of nature's beauty - if you wish more detail on this subjest and reasons why let me know

  • @eric2601 Punch is a great little guy. My oranda all love contact to different degrees, but none of them have gotten that cuddly.

You offered someone else more details on the safety of the slime coat when handling a fish. If you don't mind, I'd like that, too. It'd be nice if I could stop worrying about it.

  • @slthirteen no you just don't fee him enough.

  • omg thats so sweet! im not sure whether i should get a ryukin or oranda?

  • hERE IS THE SKINNY OF THE ISSUE- the Ryukin are more prone to swim bladder issues - in part due to the way they are physically bred - The orandas put out a lot more waste when they get older - so you really have to curve the feeding -and have a propensity toward Wen issues - issues - overgrowth of the eyes etc - but I regard the Orandas as slightly more "durable" if you know what I mean - of course I have a slight bias to them as well LOL

  • This is so cute!

  • THANK YOU

  • Eric,very,very nice!!!!

  • It would be impossible to discern the problem with your Betta without some information related to iot s environmental quality, feeding, symptoms etc - and yes Punch has grown considerably. THe issue of his wen covering the eyes is starting to becoma=e a concern.

  • Wow that's amazing! Punch is HUGE. I have a betta fish at home that's not so happy and sick. I'm currently treating him with medication but any tips?

  • THANKS

  • so cute!

  • aww were did you get that fish?

  • Usually I special order orandas from a special breeder - in the US. Bit in this case it was determined that I wanted one just as a peraonal pet - so he was purchased from Pet smart - one of the characteristics that determined his purchase was that he was an obvious alpha male - very aggressive - up front not scared of anything - although he has some cottony wool fungus on his tail - I quarantined him and treated for that and the rest was history

  • actually usually we buy them special from a texas breeder - however this one comes from a pet store we rescued -

  • @eric2601 It's actually funny you said that, it seems like any fish I buy from a pet store is "Rescued." I like that, haha.

  • @eric2601 Were at? I'm from Texas and Orandas have always been my favorite :) I'm planning on getting a nice 50gal set up soon. do you have any recomindations?

  • hes like haaaaaaaaaaaay

  • oH i AGREE TO THAT THANK YOU

  • omg thats so cute! i have an oranda, too

    greets from germany

  • how you do that

  • glod fish are atracted to almost anything that moves

  • actually not true - they are able to decipher danger - but in my case the movement - with him is associated with being carressed.

  • White Spot only on Wen area !!

  • Actually if it is specifically on the wen and the fish is less than, say, 5 years old, it is most likely old Wen skin cells being pushed out from between the cracks in the Wen- check to see if the white spots are attached to the wen surface or exuding as stringy masterial from in between the crevases in the wen - do not treat for this - it is normal from growth.

  • I have a problem .... no matter what i do my baby Oranda's keep getting white spot. I do the weekly water change, i've cleaned the filter, and have tried water remedy. nothing seems to work.

  • They may have ick. You should pick up a fish disease book, these are worth the money!

  • Actually if it is specifically on the wen and the fish is less than, say, 5 years old, it is most likely old Wen skin cells being pushed out from between the cracks in the Wen- Ick will show progression over other parts of the body quickly - as well - it was stated the condition is over a moneth now - the Goldiw qwould be covered in ick by now or dead from the Ick - this progression is to slow and speciofic to one body area

  • Good to know! Thanks, I'll definately look that up in detail down the road. It's always nice to learn something new.

  • I Remember years ago i have a redcap oranda and it's wen slowly turned white. do u now what may have caused this to happen?

  • I am going to assume that your fish lived a long happy life after the color change. Negating disease; it is a known characteristic of orandas to have color changes; either in the body or though Wen Or both. There are a number of factors up that can cause this; genetics, environmental who can keep conditions, food changes who were dietary changes, nutrient deficiencies etc.

  • wow, its so quiut thats fish.

    i love it

  • ahh this is like the cuttest thing I saw a fish doing... actully I thought that theydid nothing but swim and eat... I love gold fish.. mine died a couple years ago and since I have never got another one... now I have a baby and want to get one for him... what would be the perfect sice of fish tank so I can have a big goldfish?

  • The habit punch displays seems to be a characteristic of the Oranda. The minimum size tank for any hope of maintaining a goldfish is 28 gallons. They are who are Pronounced waste producers and have very special needs. They are very unique in that they need a higher level of maintenance to keep the water and tank conditions in acceptable conditions. When you notice that the conditions are sub-par; it is too late For the well being of the fish .

  • lol .. I love this fish. Hope one of mine Oranda's do this once its older.

  • actually I find if they are going to do it they will do it at a very young age.

  • Are you a gay fish?

  • NO HE IS NOT A GAY FISH

  • i like fish sticks

  • You know; that you have brought that up I'm starting to wonder as well lol - that would be certainly one way to control his sexual appetite with the other fish. when I speak to him who again I will bring it up in casual conversation.

  • NEMO!

  • exactly

  • I use the term aqua-puppy.

  • That is unbelievable. I have had goldfish for several years now and I have never seen that! :) Amazing!

  • It is particularly prominant trait in the alpha males - although I have never experienced one that is so demanding and bonded

  • is it all alone? ;[

  • No - just for the week - he is in the breeder tank - which is smaller and we will be putting his mate in soon

  • Reminds me of the Ropefish I have. Everytime I clean the tank they want similar attention.

  • That is exactly how this started - exactly!!

  • if you video that send me a link I would like to see it.

  • eh first chance I get I probably will. They also eat from the hand on me and are known to throw the toys around that I have for em in the tank. XD

  • Comment removed

  • yours is pretty, but Punch is an oranda and yours is a fantail

    both are fancy goldfish

  • actually Punch started being demanding at about 2 months of age - pestering us every time we moved plants or cleaned the tank

  • send me a link to the video that you have of yours. one note; it is best that they do not feed from the whose surface as they tend to ingest more air then they should then causes difficulties . This is a special problem of this type of breed.

  • omg, you can pat a fish, I would never have thought that, awesome goldie mate.

  • as well - he has particular spots on his body he likes - if you notice he comes out of my hand and turns around - we found he likes his left side petted more than his right -

  • nice goldfish how old is he?

  • around 3 now

  • punch is almost 3 now

  • HE LOVES YOU! CUTE

  • he seems to be able nto tell the difference between me and othwer people -

  • LOL cool goldfish

  • yeah - he certainly can steal the show eh==when company comes by

  • Sooooo... tame, and Soooo... cute!!

  • s spolied lol

  • XD LMAO!! Your also right about that, but boy can your goldfish reacts, and think like a K-9 Cool video eric2601

  • thank you for the comment

  • :D Your welcome eric2601.

  • Adorable.

I'm taking a guess, you live on the East Side 30's to 40's? Noticing the buildings out your window.

  • He's So Cute!!

  • oh hes a character

  • LOL, thats so cute!! I we had a goldfish that looks almost identical he actually died yesterday =(... He had swim Bladder Disease/Malfunction

  • fancy goldfish are prone to swim bladder problems. I shell frozen peas then feed. IT WORKS!! Also flakes are the WORST food ever for fancies. sinking soft pellets or gel food is best:)

  • amazing!

  • damn im jealous now..i wish my stupid goldfish wanted to be petted...

  • lol hahaha

  • Cute fish =] You spelled Beethoven in you description incorrect btw luls=S

  • smart fish

  • u should get him another oranda and he will be happier.

  • actually this is the breeder tank - - and Lovie was not yet added for his couple weeks of pleasure

  • ok not to be mean or anything but u r rubbing off the slime of your goldfish which they need to protect themselves from dieases but it is ok to gently pick them up nice fish anyway

  • This is why Orandas are the coolest goldfish breed (in my opinion) besides the telescope eye.

  • 2RMB IN CHINA

  • y are u rubing off the sime coat??

  • It's ok yo pet your fish once in a while just not for too long. They can produce more.

  • any one who wants to pet their fish isnt to smart, fish are for enjoing and watching, their not dogs, if u pet them and they try to swim away that means they dont like it, eventally they will tho when you take a bit of their coat away, then theyle like being pet because u will be scraching off the paraciets. i know it looks cool but its not.

  • red the description, RETARD!!

  • AW SO CUTE!!!! i love him! lol adorable!

  • ok dude thats kool but just make sure u add a few drops of water conditioner after u pet him, fish in general have a slime coat thats protects them from bad bacteria lurking in the water, by petting ur goldfish u are removing this slime coat thus making him prone to disease

  • That's cute :) wonder if I can train mine to do that. There pretty sociable little guys.

  • A good way to train your fish to be like this is by hand feeding them, which means they eat from your hand.

  • I see :) can you do this with beta?LOL.Probably wouldnt enjoy it as much*My goldfish had a problem with his swim bladder,so he's gone, just got a beta*

  • That is called Swim Bladder disease, there is a way to cure that, supposedly there is some kind of special food to cure it, you should have talked to a person who works at your local fish store itmediatlly after you noticed symptoms.
