  • my p67 + intel i5 2500k + H80 stock speeds can i overclocit

  • I love the fact that you're taking the time to explain these things and it's clear that you know what you are talking about, I just wish you'd rehearse what you're going to present. Also, it wouldn't kill you to use a ruler heh

    Keep up the good work.

  • @HyyRisque Yes.

  • lol *slow zoom into white board at the end*. Guess I'll go with a P-67 board. I could care less about on board video. I want high end dedicated graphics.

  • Thanks for the video.

  • @+[39591079244:0]

  • OC'ing a i3 cpu can cause nasty stuff like corrupt your hard-drive and blah blah blah?

Where the fuck did you hear that because its total bullshit m8! all it will do is possibly screw the cpu..

  • Plz help me: Same prices of simple Intel Z68 board and MSI crossfire p67! What should i buy then!?

  • This video is golden. I've gone from a bestbuy pc buyer to a pc gamer in less than a month! Great video.

  • So the system chooses onboard or dedicated graphics depending on what's required, for increased efficiency? Is that the main advantage of z68 over p67?

I'm trying to understand this all as I want to build an i7 2600k/2700k system in the next few days.

  • I think the 'H' stands for Home, 'P' stands for Professional, 'Z' you figure out, I can't find a word for it.

  • Great vid, I usually recomend you when someone ask me something about PCs and staff keep it up

  • Great explanation, thank you!!!

  • To be fair, if your using the 2600k i7, you pretty likely to have a separate GPU.

  • @GMODCREATOR I'm glad I got a z68 board with my 2600k.

I'm still in the process of building my computer, but I decided to wait for the 7970 since it's coming out next week or something of the sorts. While I wait, I can still have my computer up and running and playing a few games.

  • you are the biggest nerd i have ever seen in my entire life

  • when is z68 coming?

  • @ruhulaminutube may 8

  • @nitro300 - lol I know that now but thanks anyway.

  • "Best of both worlds" hahahahahaha

  • ur writing sucks give me job for ur writing assistant

  • guys i want to build a new PC, and i don't know which one is better, i7 960 , i7 2600 or i7 2600k?

the PC will be used for Eyefinity Gaming, 3D max, Photo editing. so what u think?

  • @Sniper1Hunter - Go with the newer Sandy Bridge processors. Out of the i7 2600 and i7 2600k, you may aswell get the 2600k becouse it gives the option of overclocking perhaps at a later date. And it also costs only a fraction more then the i7 2600 locked processor.

  • This video was very very informative! I really needed this. Thank you! :)

  • Thanks! This is very informative!

  • you are a good teacher

  • very helpful thanks

  • so this mean i can oc i5 2400 at p67 motherboard to 3.9 ghz without problem

  • can i ask a question , for a 3ds max user is it better to get a i7 970 or i7 2600 with p67 ? i want to buy a computer and i want the best , thanks

  • @eyadkalaji if you're into super heavy video rendering, the i7 970 is better. go to xbitlabs dotcom and read their core i7990x vs i7 2600 article. it details how much better it is so u can make ur decision off that.

  • @CIoudFire thanks for unswering me :D i see , the 990x and 980x is the best for rendering , but me i don't realise a huge video renders or an animation , it is in global a pictures for spaces , saloons ( interiors ) and exteriors . so i can accept a few more rendering time , becaus there is a huge price difference between 990x and 2600 , so i will choose 2600 and i hope it do a good job . !! are you ok with me ?

  • @eyadkalaji in that case, definitely go with the 2600k... for myself personally, i would even go with the 2500k, it's 100$ cheaper than the 2600k, and they overclock the same. the lga 1155 overclocks really easily, so maybe you should look into that. even if you never overclocked before, it would be amazingly easy to get these chips to 4.2-4.3ghz. there are a lot of OC guides on these chips online.

  • @CIoudFire yeah i will make researche about this , so i want to thank you so much :) . hope for you the best

  • @eyadkalaji 2600k. The 2600k rivals the 980x Extreme Edition and it's not even close to the $1,000 price tag.

  • @StigmatiX That is not exactly true cuz they are two completely different types of processors. It's almost like comparing Xeon and Core i7. Sorry that i am not the best a explaining lol.

  • god damn i love you thanks for explaining.

  • I want a Z71 :D lol (chevy silverado) Seems the P67 mobo is what im looking for. Great explanation!

  • Linus is cool......

  • I'm getting p67 2600k i7 QUUUUUUUUUUUAD in my overclock gaming PC, can't wait for it ^___^

  • when is the z68 cumming out?

  • Where does the Q67 fit in?

  • @ksamarth0 your a bit late to join the party.....

  • @ksamarth0 FIXED!!!!

  • @n8mario hehe alright :D

  • @n8mario Yeah you should go with one :) seems like you want more speed and don't care about the power when you go with a that high end pc :) the Blacks are faster

  • Comment removed

  • @n8mario Why a caviar green? you want to save power go with an black insted :D

  • @n8mario you can overclock only a 'k' sku processor. for example i5 2500K, but a i5 2500 will be locked because it isnt a 'k' sku. K = unlocked

so in order to overclock you need a K / unlocked processor AND a p67 motherboard. x68 arent out yet.

I would say for a safe voltage of around 1.36 or less it looks like 4.2 to 4.7 is the range for most 2nd gen i5 or i7 cpu's.

  • Awesome video man

  • учи русский язык,сцуко пиндосская.Моя твоя не понимай.Хандехох

  • Can I run games on those on board graphics?. Not a hardcore gamer just WoW and Starcraft II once and awhile. The H67 is what's sold in my local area?

  • @Pinkertonist sandybride is new you tard

  • @delonholmes92 I'm talking about Ivy Bridge. You just made yourself look like an idiot.

  • is z68 the replacement for x58 as p67 and h67 was for p55?

  • Bulldozer will be crap, amd are full of shit they've never been ahead of Intel and never will.

  • orrrrrrr, you just take amd

  • wait for ivy bridge!

  • When will I be able to buy that z68?

  • h67 = shit

    z68 = the shit

  • "as much as you can possibly want... well until it reaches its limit"

    that sentence is awesome!

  • Everytime I hear "Intel" and "graphics" in the same statement, I scratch my head and ask "why?"...

  • @SimplyCarLo because its cheap and one less thing you have to think about. I will agree pretty much all there older graphics (excluding the intel HD in the previous core i3) were rubbish for anything. But with HD decoding its a very convenient thing to have if you don't play games.

  • @SimplyCarLo

    Why not?

  • @SimplyCarLo HTPC

  • @SimplyCarLo same here, seriously, a intel graphics card, what da hell¿?

  • @gmk120 i guess its for people that are poor and can't buy a card

  • @nitro300 i don't think you can buy a intel graphics card, i think all of 'em are integrated

  • @gmk120 yea I know but for those who need graphics and cant afford a card they have intel.

  • @SimplyCarLo Intel Quick Sync seems very neat

  • @SimplyCarLo not everybody games

  • Thanks, Linus. I don't know if you've already reviewed Intel HD2000 and HD3000 graphics (video test of K and non-K I*ntel CPUs). Such info is highly appreciated to make up mind about video performance difference.

Is it really necessary to buy K processor to play old 3D games (circa 2004-2007) without discreet GPU?

Another question is Power Consumption Saver option of H67 chipset. Is it really able to completely stop external video card from working in 2D mode?

  • Intel has fcuked itself with its sockets, chipsets and processor names, only Bulldozer can flatten all this mess.

  • Thanks Linus! I had no idea the P67 didn't make full use of the new on-die graphics. It seems a bit ass-backwards to release this new tech alongside a platform the prevents its use...

  • I wonder what happened to P65?

  • this z68 will have support to more PCIe lanes? sata III? or tri chanel dd3?

  • Almost made a huge error; I was fully prepared to buy an H67 mobo with the intent of overclocking the CPU and integrated graphics. Guess I'll just have to wait even longer now.

  • AMD has some tricks up their sleeves. against Sandy bridge

just look at AMD Bulldozer & Other Upcoming Technologies Interview With Jim Bovenzi at NCIX.com channel.

  • Intel Sucks. i knew it since the serires: "core i 3,5,7".. My New Rig will be With Bulldozer and Nvidia.

  • The reason why the P67 doesnt support the onboard GPU with 2600k is because intel knows..

when you are investing in a 2600k and a top of the line p67..you are bound to have a powerful discrete GPU.

But yeah, really stupid of intel.

  • first time linus writing something ^^

  • does the performance of the onboard graphics add to the perf. off your pci-gpu?

  • I kept reading ie. as internet explorer. :L

  • nice puzzle !!! in end you should buy the most expensive chip just to overclock

  • What a mess Intel has made. The new processors are good tho. And I can't wait for Bulldozer too!

  • i think amd totally pwnd intel this year

  • Linus is not TC

  • Zed 68 Linus , don't go American on us.

  • I am just wondering if Sandy bridge is a worthy successor to my 1090t.

  • basically on the chart it gets better the more down and right you get

  • why isnt this on NCIX tech tips

  • ther will be no z68

  • @ademar9988 how do you know that?

  • love Linus's writing :P

  • Does anyone else think these chips take the fun out of overclocking? I like it to be a bit complicated and challenging. I dont want to just change the multiplier.

  • who cares abut onboard graphics they should have just made p67 just like z68

  • I want ivy bridge lga 2011

  • I want a LGA 1356, or was it 1365?

  • @Xtremepower21 1366

  • shouldnt this be on your ncixcom channel?

  • Linus ,you are very tired! or no?

  • yeeeeee 2600 x watched

  • you upload every day :0

    like it

  • "Merlin" brothers

  • Core :3

  • Nice vid Linus, i understand it all, and i would go for P67 + 2600K but...

300$ CPU + 200$ board nah no go for only 2 parts.

I don't wanna go for the i5 and lower budget boards, so i stay with what i now have till Z68 maybe or wait till the next TOCK.

  • i'm totally confused with these new processors , i just give up

  • Whats the advantage of on board graphics?

  • @KaikuPen save money on buying a graphics card so u can use a computer without buying seperate card, or you can also crossfire or sli your onboard graphics to your installed graphics card, but it depends on what kind of graphics card you have.

  • So how about X58 chipsets? Are they being supported by the new i7 Ks?

  • z68 + ci7

  • can you explain what has integrated graphics and what doesn't? I originally thought it was based on the proc, but I'm confused now. Can you also do some testing to see how good the integrated graphics is?

  • Linus please show EFI BIOS

  • wrong channel?

  • NDA break?

  • is LGA1155 backwards compatible with LGA1156?

  • @Firepun

    No

  • @Firepun no but theres a branded board which does both cant remember product name. something transformer

  • I'm completely anal, I know, but "i.e." translates to "that is to say" not "for example".

But ignore me, you always do a good job, Linus!

  • does the Z68 feature triple channel memory?

and can they be used with the i7s and i5s which works on the h67 and p67?

    (previously on x58 u cant use those 1366 i7s on p55 and h55)

  • @waihung Probably not tripple channel. Yes because they are socket 1155 motherboards...

  • I hope there won't be a test about this

  • No Turbo

    ie Core :3

Am I the only one who noticed?

  • *confused*

  • too many version to choose from, but almost all in the same price range which is Expensive = Fail!

  • Why would anybody get an unlocked processor and use the on board graphics? \_(-_-)_/

  • @alienROCKZ vsync is pretty cool...

  • While Intel's chips are becoming more family friendly AMD is preparing to release Bulldozer. So until then I'll just stick with my B55, hop things work out for Intel users! :D

  • Comment removed

  • Has anyone ever noticed that several times the link provided in the description returns no results at NCIX??

  • @pedro380085 your right

  • i choose am3

  • @ciscokid8893 Soon to be AM3+. ;) We'll see how that goes.

  • i dont think intel onboard graphics can much mine gtx 460 sli

  • it's not like intel is confusing consumers again. no. not at all. their marketing department and naming schemes are the friendliest on the planet. totally.

    *bitch slaps intel*

  • Thanks Linus, great info. I hadn 't heard much about the upcoming Z68 chipset, so that was really useful.

For a really detailed lowdown on SB, H67 and P67 I found Tom's Hardware to be very good, though to absorb it all I had to breathe pure oxygen and afterwards I still needed a nap.

  • On-board graphics = discrete graphics?

No offense. Completely confused by Intel's 2nd gen core i introduction.

  • welcome back from CES :)

  • Ok, so lemme get this straight. Since Ivy Bridge will retain LGA 1155 socket compatibility, we can get a sweet P67 board, drop a Sandy Bridge i7 in it, OC the shit out of it and have fun until the Ivy Bridge chips come out either third quarter or next year and be able to keep the board and upgrade the cpu. BUT under no circumstances will we be able to take advantage of onboard VGA at any time with the P67. Correct? Fuck, I'm confused. :P

  • Hey everyone, check out my website, it has various game downloads, cheats, and tips, but in order to get access, you must click on an add, and just close it immediately after, and the content will be there!!!

  • Why the hell they named the new socket LGA 1155? It's confusing, I thought 1156 is the new one... but surprise 1156 is the old one! WTF Intel?

  • @bluesmoke21 It has to do with the number of pins on the array. There are 1155 pins on the motherboard that make contact with 1155 contact points on the CPU. Compared to 1156 pins on last gen's i3/i5/i7 series, hence that name. LGA 1366 (highest-end i7s of previous gen) still has the most pins and generally fastest speeds.

It's confusing definitely, but that's why that number was used, in case you were not sure.

  • @crumbworks Oh, I didn't knew that. Thanks for the explication.

  • core i3 looks like core :3

  • I can't wait for Bulldozer

  • @jchambers2586 I wouldn't expect as much improvement as AMD has not announced that they are moving to the 32nm fabrication process on Bdozer. Anyway even before Sandy Bridge an Intel core outperformed an AMD core by about 20% or more due to more effective off-core logic (cache controllers and so forth.) That's why the i5-760 at 2.8 Ghz actually performs on par with the Phenom II X4 970 at 3.5 Ghz. The i5-760 doesn't have hyperthreading, so that's not a factor.

  • @jchambers2586 retail launch is not until january 9th, which is today,

  • @jchambers2586

    When is it coming anyway?

  • @jchambers2586

Are you serious, good luck man - should work like an i3 [without hyper threading].

  • Mount that board in the wall please.

  • @savagemessiah82 and ruine the graffiti hell no sir! :(

  • Now that's interesting what kind of performance can we expect from the on board graphics, would it be comparable to a dedicated GPU?

  • will p67 compeet with x58

  • @theangelswithwings

no, the x58 is for 1366, that wont be replaced untill q3 with the 2011 socket for the high end sandy bridge

  • Thanks 4 keeping us updated. I think your great and think ncix knows what their doing having u do the youtube work u do!! Im thankful 8oP. Good luck always linus!! Ur a great human being--love the work....fun cats too!! Im a cat guy!

  • Man, what a mess. How does Intel expect to convey all this to the lay person? All the more reason to stick with AMD, IMO.

  • @3kirt im with intel but the change sockets every fucking year thats annoying

but the bastards are the number 1 selling processors -.- i think is for the performance

anyways i will always gonna buy intel

  • @3kirt Not a very compelling reason IMO. I'm like Frank, preferring Intel for the performance and reliability. They overclock better too (although the AMD BE's are easier to OC.) I'm really happy that AMD is there though, without the competition Intel prices would probably be through the roof.

In the final analysis having the bigger market share gives Intel a huge edge when it comes to R&D - the fruits being things like better fabrication process.

  • can someone plz help me out...im looking for the most up to date mobo and im really confused about all the sockets....1156 and 1155 ?? whats better? 1366, is that only the 6 core high end cpus? if so i can't afford that so ignore plz. and lastly can someone recommend an ASUS mobo that i can throw in an i5 or i7 that also has the 16x for both pci-e for sli? thanks ps. it has to be overclock friendly, multiplier unlocked thanks

  • @chevyZ24L None of the boards with 1156 or 1155 have both 16x graphics slots but there is no difference between dual 8x and 16x

  • Just wait til' LGA2011 releases. And go enthusiast. But I guess it doesn't really matter right now since Sandy Bridge is a tick and Ivy Bridge is a tock. Just refreshes.

  • pause video anywhere press hold left until it goes to 0:00 press up enjoy snake unpause video quickly play snake while watching linus thumbs up now

  • @Wertosa yes, well u can corrupt important file while manipulating them

  • when is the z68 be out

  • it's a no brainer to get the K series!
