  • haha love the little kick at the end.

  • @horseheartedx

i know even though this was so long ago it is fun to look back and see that extra burst of energy she got!

  • i don't know about barrel racing so it was interesting to read your comments on technique! Nice vid, nice riding, nice horse :)

  • @Irisedpig

Thanks. It is always nice to post even your not so perfect videos and notate what you or your horse could have done better and then watch it over and over again. Makes for a great learning experience and to actually see it right in front of you.

  • Great run, great eye! You got better because you know what you're doing wrong! High five! Great work!

  • @titanbuck7

Thanks a bunch! Having constructive criticism for yourself is key in improving the skills of yourself and the way your train your horse.

  • She's only 4 and you let her race?

  • @starshine9900

Yes she was 4 in this video and yes I entered her in this jackpot and others as well. She was vet checked for any soundness issues along with growth issues and she checked out. People need to stop getting all bent out of shape and negative to people when you don't know a thing about the horse.

  • its about speed and style, and how well you do it.

  • @sparky681000

To an extent. It is definitely about patience and taking things slow and make sure your horse is catching on and doing everything right at a slow pace before even thinking about pushing any faster. Speed is honestly a very small part of a horse's barrel racing training.

  • is this horse for sale?

    location?

    price?

  • @Jordannhorselover21

she isn't listed for sale, although possibly for the right price would consider a sale.

she is located in idaho wouldn't take less than $10,000 she is 8 now and has clocked in the 1d and won many checks in the 2d

  • god ur horse is fast

  • 0:18 pause wow

  • Nice little mare! Great run for a baby!

  • i think you did a very nice job :) every one has there own ways in teachen there horse:)

  • @rageingrebel4 Very true. Thank you so much :)

  • i think you did a very nice job :)

  • I know on the frist you said you need to lean more.. well im just gonna tell you that if you lean you will throw your horse off balence and then the barrel will be worse beacuse the horse has to catch you and they have a chance of tripping and going down.. other than that keep up the good work :)

  • @ltddixiechick thanks for the tips. but i actually said that i needed to NOT lean on the first... but thanks for the pointer :)

  • I'd definately go with Charmayne James' technique. A good friend of mine follows Charmayne's ways and her five year old mare (in barrel training) turns beautifully. Her mare is also very small, and I wouldn't say size determines which technique you should follow. A small horse can still swing their hindquarters outward around the barrels and have wide pockets.

  • i think its awesome that you reconize and acknowlege your mistakes. good work

  • @countrygirl9519 thanks! the only way to do better and achieve your goals is to admit your mistakes and how to go about fixing them

  • @angelchick6103 yes it is. and i'll admit my mare and i need ALOT of work on the barrels but we'll get there im not in any rush

  • @countrygirl9519 absolutely, i have learned that if you are in a rush with your horses and barrel racing it just never works out. it is much better to have a good solid foundation and respect through patience. you will be great!

  • Beautiful horse. Wonderful rider. You made too large of a circle when turning the barrel, you could have cut it tighter. But that's better than a lot of barrel racers can do, I see too many riders slamming down on the horses back, kicking them too hard, and pulling on the reins like theres no tomorrow. You seem to have more consideration for your horse, I think you both have potential.

  • @slitwristschick thanks. i know she took her turns a little sloppy and wide. i think this was one of our first races in the season... she is doing much better now!

  • ur horse isnt listing its doing what it wants you should control it it should go exacly where you point it but then again its four so that good

  • @monkeymangonewild FYI i did have "control" over my horse. obviously you aren't too barrel racing savvy

  • You did a very good job!

  • @4inbangkok Thanks!

  • @4inbangkok thanks a lot!

  • this is really good! pretty much jealous of your talent(:

  • NICE!!!

  • you did good not everybody is perfect...but she is on her way to some nice nice runs!! i tend to not listen to what those other nasty other ppl say they all just jealous!!!! you are good girly

  • years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand

  • @cowgirl1011121311415 thanks a ton!

  • is this horse for sale?

  • @rodeodiva36 she was for sale for a while but i decided to let my friend run her now, because i can't seem to get rid of her

  • @rodeodiva36 things have changed... the mare isn't listed for sale but for the right price i would sell her.

  • Lol looks just like me and my horse yesterday, because im still training him XD But you did do a good job! Your horse is gorgeous, keep it up! :)

  • @cobaltcowgirl148 thank you!

  • jess i freken love you and you did so amazing with arora i dont know if i spelt that right but you did awsome with her keep it up girly see you later

  • @jamiecrumm hey turd bird!!!! excited to see you and aurora run tonight at fbar!

  • this horse is really cute! :)

  • @Barrelcrazzy thanks,.... she never really grew much she is only about 14.2 or so. but she is a quick little turd

  • i love barrel racing! my new horse gets 13-14 sec. barrel runs! and her gpa is DASH FOR CASH! yayayayayayayay! :)

  • @Barrelcrazzy thats great... i am looking for a new barrel prospect because this mare is with someone else right now. i want my new prospect to be dash for cash... heard they are slammin little barrel horses

  • @angelchick6103 where do you live???? where i got my barrel horse she has a bunch of insanly nice cheep horses. there all reiner/barrel horses. her barn is in salem

  • @Barrelcrazzy i am in idaho

  • @angelchick6103 where do you live???? where i got my barrel horse she has a bunch of insanly nice cheep horses. there all reiner/barrel horses. her barn is in

  • umm well since some people are saying to come wide and cut tight, you really shouldn't do that. atleast that is what charmayne james has said. since it's better to make an even circle around the barrel

  • @turnandburn4life ya. i think some people are thinking that you need to give some sort of a pocket before you come into the barrel then cut it a little tighter come out of the barrel. i have heard charmayne say that before... everyone does it differently. this little mare NOW, you don't really need much of a pocket she is so small she can fly around the barrels no problem

  • ok on ur last turn remember to come wide and then cut tight because u tried to cut in to soon and u ended up going wide at the end which will increase your time and we dont want that!!

  • lol i know, a lot of this mare's four year old year, she was really getting bad about not giving herself a pocket. my head wasn't completely in it to fix it in the middle of a run... thank you for your help though!

  • oh i just love to barrel race its sooooooo much fun! you did a great job!

  • thank you!

  • Barrel racing rocks!

  • lol heck yes it does!

  • Nice video! Only tried barrel racing a couple of times, not highly popular here in the UK...!

  • that is surprising that it isn't more popular over there

  • i was barrel raceing my horse it was fun she got to excited and bucked also when i was 5 i was jumping 2'6 and i was practiceing and i fell off and im 11 right now and my back is messed up from it

  • uh oh that is no fun at all. all horse people should have stories about things that have happened. this mare when she was two reared up on me and flipped over breaking both my wrist and tailbone... it is hard to get back into riding with a broken tailbone

  • Love to see barrel riders ride the horse to the end, not beat it to the end - nice ride. Not my favorite horse sport, but I do recognize it when a horse clearly loves what he's doing - and that one sure does.

  • well thank you!

  • good job!

  • Thanks!
