An assumption is being made that the lowest noise corresponds to the native ISOs. That is incorrect. The native ISOs are actually multiples of 100. The ones indicated in the video have lower noise because they are derived from the next 1/3 stop higher ISO and then pull processed. This pull processing reduces the noise at the expense of headroom. You can accomplish exactly the same thing by exposing +1/3 EV at the native ISOs (100, 200, 400, etc.) and adjusting curves.
@Brillig2 So does that mean that those ISOs in the T2i are native or is the 200 really 160 with 40 EV? I'm trying to understand the "cleanest" ISO to use on my T2i, especially since I have installed Magic Lantern and I don't know if the ML's 160 will make it noisy or not. Any advice?
@joejumps4fun That is backwards. ISO 160 is ISO 200 overexposed by 1/3 stop and pull-processed. The native ISOs are not the ones with the lowest noise, though. If you want the lowest noise, you need to select the multiples of 160. Since those ISOs are processed by overexposing, though, you lose a touch of dynamic range in the highlights. Having not used Magic Lantern myself, I can't comment on that.
i hav a question , can i shoot a reasonable video without using the rigs n stuff on a dslr say canon 500D?
