The question really is, who do you credit when you do a cover of a cover?

Most people would say that you credit the original author of the song, but in this case, Jose Gonzales in a sense wrote half of the music you hear in this video which only further confuses the issue.

It doesn't help that Jose's cover is more popular than the original either...

I think a lot of people get prickly about the mention of Gonzale's name here because this song very often get's mis-credited to him elsewhere. I understand that Goulding is deriving her style of the cover from Gonzale's style, so that is why he's mentioned here. That makes sense to me.

As far as the music, I prefer Gonzale's cover. Goulding's halting and shaky delivery doesn't do it for me on this track. That's just my opinion with no offence intended.
