@Martyfriedman001 That's right, my approach (and Mrty's) is the same as building muscle - you have to rest or it will not have the same effect. What I mean is practicing three hours, the last hour will not have nearly as much effect as the first one. You have to rest inbetween. That's why I sometimes feel I've gotten way better after not playing for several days (because of vacation etc.). Your muscles develop when you sleep mainly, in this case the muscles in your fingers, and their memory.
I there any benefit to the way you position your picking hand? I notice a lot of players play with their hand kind of opened as opposed to having more of a fist shaped. Would appreciate it if you could get back to me! Thanks!! :D

If you are referring to the angles, the truth is I only have one camera. I just play the song over and over again from different angles, then I mix them together in the software.
I never speed anything up, the only time I've altered the speed on any of my videos is on my latest one, where I've slowed it down on the credits. There's a reason why I haven't covered Children of Bodom or Yngwie Malmsteen yet - I only cover songs I can play properly.
@SwedishBerzerker So does this statement mean that Yngwie and Alexi Laiho's stuff is more complicated or fast (or both) as Megadeth? The only reason I ask is because I am searching for some more complex guitar music to listen to. The way I define "god" is someone who can shred like hell on a guitar! If you know of any other guitarists who you think would fit this category, I would appreciate you telling them to me. You are the best person to ask because I know that you can appreciate skill.
Yngwie is definitely. Alexi Laiho and Friedman might be about equal, but they play different styles. But some guitarists who are really superior in shredding are Yngwie, John Petrucci etc. Also check out Meshuggah, awesome rhythm guitarists and drums (check out Bleed)!

Oh, of course! And Chris Broderick. I got an instrumental from Loomis called Opulent Mealstrom, it was on a cd included with MetalHammer mag last year. It's fucking awesome! :D
Loomis just made a solo album in 2008 and it is just fucking unbelievable. I don't know if you know this or not, but Loomis would have been in Megadeth instead of Friedman but he was too young. Same as in 2008, but he was busy and recommended Broderick.
I know, it's awesome. I should probably buy that sometime. I know that too. But I'm pretty glad it was Friedman and not him, because Mustaine is a shredder and so is Loomis, Friedman creates more diversity. If it was Mustaine and Loomis, it wouldn't be as much variation. Loomis and Friedman on the other hand... but then we wouldn't have Mustaine's riffs and songs...
That is exactly what I have always thought. Mustaine and Friedman contrast each other perfectly because one shreds and one writes melodic and diverse solos. I agree, it would be much less innovative if there had been 2 shredders.
@SwedishBerzerker But aside from solos and shredding, what about riffs? Which guitarist/band would you say writes some of the most complex and awesome riffs?
Mustaine is surely one of them. Others include Meshuggah (just check out Bleed), Children of Bodom (millions of ideas in every single song, especially on their older records) and Opeth (manages to get a really good flow when changing between styles and riffs).
Well, I'm happy with it, except maybe for the speaker. I haven't tried any other speakers, but I've seen people getting a better tone out of the 6505+. It might depend on guitar, mics, EQ and many other things, but... well, if you want good equipment a 6505+ is never a bad investment. Thanks!

If you are referring to the angles, the truth is I only have one camera. I just play the song over and over again from different angles, then I mix them together in the software.

I never speed anything up, the only time I've altered the speed on any of my videos is on my latest one, where I've slowed it down on the credits. There's a reason why I haven't covered Children of Bodom or Yngwie Malmsteen yet - I only cover songs I can play properly.

@SwedishBerzerker So does this statement mean that Yngwie and Alexi Laiho's stuff is more complicated or fast (or both) as Megadeth? The only reason I ask is because I am searching for some more complex guitar music to listen to. The way I define "god" is someone who can shred like hell on a guitar! If you know of any other guitarists who you think would fit this category, I would appreciate you telling them to me. You are the best person to ask because I know that you can appreciate skill.

Yngwie is definitely. Alexi Laiho and Friedman might be about equal, but they play different styles. But some guitarists who are really superior in shredding are Yngwie, John Petrucci etc. Also check out Meshuggah, awesome rhythm guitarists and drums (check out Bleed)!

Oh, of course! And Chris Broderick. I got an instrumental from Loomis called Opulent Mealstrom, it was on a cd included with MetalHammer mag last year. It's fucking awesome! :D

Loomis just made a solo album in 2008 and it is just fucking unbelievable. I don't know if you know this or not, but Loomis would have been in Megadeth instead of Friedman but he was too young. Same as in 2008, but he was busy and recommended Broderick.

I know, it's awesome. I should probably buy that sometime. I know that too. But I'm pretty glad it was Friedman and not him, because Mustaine is a shredder and so is Loomis, Friedman creates more diversity. If it was Mustaine and Loomis, it wouldn't be as much variation. Loomis and Friedman on the other hand... but then we wouldn't have Mustaine's riffs and songs...

That is exactly what I have always thought. Mustaine and Friedman contrast each other perfectly because one shreds and one writes melodic and diverse solos. I agree, it would be much less innovative if there had been 2 shredders.

Mustaine is surely one of them. Others include Meshuggah (just check out Bleed), Children of Bodom (millions of ideas in every single song, especially on their older records) and Opeth (manages to get a really good flow when changing between styles and riffs).

Well, I'm happy with it, except maybe for the speaker. I haven't tried any other speakers, but I've seen people getting a better tone out of the 6505+. It might depend on guitar, mics, EQ and many other things, but... well, if you want good equipment a 6505+ is never a bad investment. Thanks!
