  • I didn't watched the final show since i was at PS 154 in Brooklyn, NY. It was really fun, a great way to end all game shows as so does "Super Password". NBC made a bunch of changes in the daytime lineup. I remember back in around 1990 or 1991, they had reruns of sitcoms during the daytime, by 1991, NBC had reruns of "Full House" in the daytime schedule, but it last for one summer until the show moved to syndication. "Full House" was a good show for NBC daytime and it was a rerun.

  • @HomeoftheGoodGuys NBC reran the episodes of "Full House" from seasons 3 and 4 back around 1991. I also remember the promo for a rerun of "Full House" when it was on NBC daytime where they did a catchy rap song singing "'Full House' Is on NBC Daytime!"v That brings back some memories.

  • 1989 was a sad year for NBC

$ale of the Century & Super Password were cancelled on March 24th and Card Sharks w/Bob Eubanks was cancelled a week later in favor of Now You See It w/Chuck Henry and plus, 1989 also saw the end of an era on The Today Show as Jane Pauley said goodbye to The Today Show after 13 years on the show, but found great success as Co-Anchor of Dateline NBC

  • @tnawcwvictoria plus NBC would also can both Wheel of Fortune and the daytime version of Win, Lose or Draw later on in '89 as well. Wheel jumped ship to CBS, only to have a short-lived return to NBC in early 1991 and daytime WLoD stayed in syndication for 1 more season w/o Bert Convy at the helm.

  • Blast from the past!!!! How did you keep your clips in such good condition? Thanks for saving so many of them. I was a model on the show for 5 years and loved every minute of it. I remember that last day of taping like it was yesterday.

  • @MsMulford Respond to this video...Hi Lou! These tapes have been sitting in air conditioning in a box at my parents house since they aired all those years ago, can you believe I could even get them to play?!...some of these episodes were just VHS tapes from the office, some I taped from my apt in LA, plus I have some really good software that transfers it to the YouTube well....btw old friends on Facebook would like to say hi to you, send me a private note....

  • Thanks for uploading this episode. When they aired this on WNBC-4 in NYC, the last half was pre-empted by a newsbreak. After 21 years, the wait is over!

  • I wonder why they had a car on the last day if it couldn't be won

  • Contractual obligation. Actually, they did have a contestant two days before who was in line to win that car, but he failed in the attempt.

  • @TheKid965 That sux. It was the last show, they should have offered the car as the bonus prize regardless.

  • Just what I expected. A good way to end the series with a competition like that no matter how loppsided.

  • There's a mistake then because March 24 was a Friday that year and I remember when it happened. It was really March 24th which was Good Friday that year. Any other source will tell you that it was March 24.

  • Actually Sale and Super Password were cancelled in March of that year.

  • Mitt, for the time you spent working for Reg Grundy Productions, are there any particular moments besides the finales that stick out in your mind? One clip I like from this show is during an instant bargain when the turntable turns by accident with Summer still on it, handing Jim the sale surprise cash from the other side. From "Scrabble", I like the time when the two contestants have a hard time spelling "mosquitoes".

  • This was a well done, very entertaining game show! What a shame for NBC to cut it from its lineup.

  • Agreed!

  • one of the best endings to a gameshow :)

  • indeed..daytime game shows were out, talk shows were all the rage.

  • So far, the only daytime network game show remaining is The Price is Right. (and if it were cancelled (and it'd better not be!), daytime television would be tarnished!)

  • Actually, CBS is bringing back the Pyramid after Guiding Light ends in September. If it does well, maybe game shows will be making a comeback.

  • @mittdawson Hey Mitt if you have any more 1986 episodes of Sale of the Century and Scrabble could you post them please?

  • retired

  • Where is Jim now?
