With this style...its about power and the power behind your moves. 540 spin kicks are great, and look great too, but if they have no power, and you are ineffective as an artist...man one kick from these guys and you'll be on the damn floor
wen i watch kyokushin i always think to myself shit, they treat each other like punchbags, all offense, little defense, never seen such a contest of brute force. for this reason, i luv it lol
i mean other styles ok karate may be based on technique or sidestepping or taekwondo for example is pure tactics, judo is manouvering, but kyokushin simply skips all that stuff, how would i put it... its hardcore :D
Kyokushin fighters are among the best in the world at anything, UFC (George St.Pierre), K-1 (Glaube Fietiosa, Francisco Filio, Andy Hug) No need to bad mouth. Just put your words on your fists and deliver them. That's all. OSU!
Don't argue with these anti-kyokushin people. Jealousy of an art that requires balls and a lifetime commitment to Budo training at it's finest, along with an unwaivering spirit and dedication to a real FIGHTING ART is something they will never understand training in these pretend arts. I hate to bad mouth but a real martial artist of any style recognizes us for what we are and rather than bad mouth us, they acknowledge that we are Budo Karate and not point fighters.
actually peter aerts was a tkd fighter when he was 12 years old... but he only got to train it for a couple of months then his parents forbidded him to train tkd :P
Im an ashihara fighter we belong to the Kyokushin click, i gotta say there are some real solid Taekwondo fighters and fact is alot of the high kicks in full contact karate are in fact taken from Korean martial arts...check out 01:47...That is a typical Taekwondo kick. Regardless of what people say fact is Choi Baedal (Mas Oyama)being Korean added elements of korean martial arts that have existed in Korea for hundreds of years. Dont forget Peter Aerts is a TKD fighter too!
Oyama was 14 years when he moved to japan. He didnt have much training as a child.
The kick at 1.47 is a kick found in most karate, including shotokan -which is one of the bases in both kyokushin (which is basically a blend of shotokan and gojuryu karate) and TKD.
Oyama studied at a young age Chinese and korean martial arts before emigrating to Japan-Yes kkk has elements of both Shotokan and Goju-Ryu from taikyoku to the pinans which are really the heians in shotokan and katas like sanchin taken from goju help with the breathing.Old school shotokan fighters never kicked above the shoulder-fact.Where have you seen the ushira mawashe geri or hiza geri being executed the way KKK fighters do.
According to himself, he did study a few MONTHS under a farmhand at a relative in manchuria (not korea). He said he didnt remember much since he was only 11-12 or so, but that it mostly had to do with elbow techniques.
TKD is developed from shotokan karate, and does indeed have ushiro mawashi geri. It is believed it was included into shotokan pre WW2 by Funakoshis son. Hiza geri is easily found in goju ryu.
actually kyokushin as mas oyama made was just another version of skotokan , but as u see it today , is the modification and development of the great students of his , mainly kancho shokei matsui
both martial arts are good neither Tae kwon Do or Kyokushin Karate is better than the other, and you fucken idiot Sensei Mas Oyama is originally a Korean from Korea so he also studied Tae kwon Do you dumbass!
you are a motherfucking idiot!!!!!all korean men are required to study TAE KWON DO at age 18 when they are drafted into the Korean Army fuckface get your dumbass facts straight before you send me your dumbass message retard!!
he wasnt in in the korean military he wasi n japanese military and 2 he didnt learn taekwondoe he learned Taekyon shotokan karate goju ryu and supposivly chinese boxing and other styles he neever took taekyon u sound mad ignorant
1. Oyama lived in korea during the japanese occupation. No korean martialart was allowed at all. Korean martial art was dead. Any soldiers studying martial arts learned japanese martialarts.
2. TKD was invented in the 50ies-60ies and mostly based japanese karate. For nationalistic purposes it acquired a 2000 year old history in the 70ies.
3. Oyama moved to japan when he was 14. what men of 18 are required to do then or now didnt much matter to him.
kyokushin is the strongest, and probably the hardest(in terms of training method) karate out there.
It depends on what you want from your martial arts experience. If you want to get beat up, beat people up, and learn discipline at the same time, join Kyokushin.
If you want to do cool kicks to impress chicks but not really get any, do Tae Kwon Do. =)
His name was actually Choi Yong-i. He preferred to be called Baedal because it represented his Korean heritage. Sosai changed his name to Mas Oyama after emigrating to Japan.

This is from the IKO(2) (now known as WKO shin-kyokushin) organizations 7th world open tournament, in 1999.
It was not shown on eurosport until a few YEARS later. No idea why they waited so long to show it.

I think 'strong' and 'hard' relate more to the class and the sensei than the style itself.
