Your explanation is a complete oversimplification of any of those tricks and frankly is somewhat retarded. Try doing this yourself and see how just going the opposite way works out for you.
He's good, he was losing the initiative, that would have been bad. He had it back within a few seconds (look when the ex-SAS enters the control room). Look how he's testing his truthfull talking by asking small questions which cant be lied about. (shoo size etc). He is creating a pattern of truth, which makes it hard to tell a lie. If he does lie he'll have a hard time which makes it easier to spot

Not all of these tricks are psychological. I'd guess that when the guy leaves the room, Derren turns a light on, has a look around, and figures out the entire course. The rest is just acting.

It's fine to try and tell when someone's lying, but it's much more effective to actually know by "cheating".
I love Derren Brown, he does some amazing things; but he's too smart risk his life on his ability to tell when someone's lying. Those techniques are not iron-clad, and he knows it.
He isn't exactly a fake, but he admittedly uses various techniques to pull off his performances.
True, he also gives him suggestion that he must lie to him. Sure, at the begging he says you can lie or tell the truth; but then he says his job is to misdirect him. He sets him up to lie and Derren play process of elimination. Brilliant.
The only reason the guy lied to him when Brown was struggling was cause Brown initially told him whether 'I beg, plead or cry like a brownie, your job is to mislead me'. He was subconsciously brainwashed.
Its simple. Sure this guy is hardened and would likely make an enemy step on those things, but Darren gets on well with him and touches him often to build trust. As a spec ops guys he's used to working in teams and looking out for his buddies and has been conditioned to do so at the risk of his own life.

There has been some discussion concerning the night vision. I'm not an expert in that area, but I do believe Derren either does see or he's getting help from somewhere else. As a magician, I don't think for even a second that Derren is going with just his abilities during this specifik trick.
It is very "easy" to tell if someone is telling the truth or not, IF you have been practicing this for years like Derren. And i know he isn't A full-time magician only, with his T.v. shows he works as a mentalist and a mentalist only. He has done many other more life threatening tasks, and in the ones that weren't life threatening you can tell how amazing he is with his trained mind. And trained mind only

I've read every book about him, watched every series he made and seen every live tour and once you get a feel of when he's telling the truth and lying about the methods behind his routines, it's kind of easy to tell that the Assault Course isn't based on Derren being a lie detector. It's just his type of magic.
What I am saying is that he probably could make it through this test without getting harmed. But no one knows what could happen. Derren trusts himself a lot and he makes mistakes too. I doubt anyone will find out if this was real other than Derren so why argue.
The Russian Roulette and Broken glass stunt, even though it wasn't "life" threatening he risked his feet, and also he has done many "career" risking stunts at the theatre. Also hes done very crazy things with his mind though, like making someone wake up in Morocco and making someone think they had and OBE in a car crash etc. He doesn't do big stunts, even though he probably can and should.

If you could consciously use 100% of your brain, you would be incredibly superhuman - your reaction time would be a fraction of what it is now, you could control your mood, blood pressure, immune system, hormones, muscle development, body mass index, metabolism, aging, skeletal structure, genetic makeup, and a whole lot of other things.

Ask yourself this: who is the better sportsman (let's take throwing a ball as an example) the one who has to think about every tiny muscle contraction and plan the arc the ball makes with mathematics, or the one that does all that automatically, unconsciously, behind the scenes and just thinks 'throw'.

1st intersection: 3 options, one he just did, + 1 lie, equals the right choice.
2nd intersection: He asks twice which is the way and gets two lies, leaving only the correct choice.

I dont know about the rest of the course, but I think he knew from the beginning where the crash mat would be. This may be a total shot in the dark, because I don't know jack about this stuff! But Derren's face often lights up when he knows his plan has worked (1:29, he gives a hint of that smile). & I bet most people would try to catch him out by keeping the mat close to where it originally was - also to make less noise as well as put it where Derren did NOT end.
When he asks 'is left really safe? is it relly safe?' it makes the person confused as to whether to say 'yes yes' or 'no no'. And this, if the person is lying leads to hesitation, which Derren picked up on.
The thing you have to remember is that Derren is not saying it's "magic" but more psychology and something ANYONE can learn. It's easy enough to say "that's bs" or "hoax" but really, there is a ton of logic in what he does.
I think hes amazing, i believe its a mixture between noticing whether the guy was lying, and also listenning to him put down the obstacles before the course began. If you notice he is standing there all the time. He can hear where certain things are being placed.

This isnt about seeing in the dark, anyone can walk along a beam using their feet as feelers along the beam with thier eyes shut, this is simply about knowing which way to move. What we do know is that there are night vision cameras watching his every move, he's a user of technology and we do know he has an ear piece to talk to the man directing him, what we dont know is if someone is telling him what to do in the other ear..
if that would`ve been the first video i saw of him, than i would agree... but after all what i`ve seen of derren brown doing, i`m sure that there is no "trick" about this whole thing, xept for the reading the unconscious auditory signals that guy sends... when you would read about that stuff and not just talk bullshit, than you could even learn the basics of reading if people are lying or not... ok, well maybe you couldn`t because it might be very likely that you just miss the necessary empathy

The blindfold had an opaque patch and a transparent patch. When he tested it out on the military guy, it was the opaque patch, and he used the transparent patch when they were setting the booby-traps, and memorized it before they doused the lights.

What I am saying is that he probably could make it through this test without getting harmed. But no one knows what could happen. Derren trusts himself a lot and he makes mistakes too. I doubt anyone will find out if this was real other than Derren so why argue.

The Russian Roulette and Broken glass stunt, even though it wasn't "life" threatening he risked his feet, and also he has done many "career" risking stunts at the theatre. Also hes done very crazy things with his mind though, like making someone wake up in Morocco and making someone think they had and OBE in a car crash etc. He doesn't do big stunts, even though he probably can and should.

If you could consciously use 100% of your brain, you would be incredibly superhuman - your reaction time would be a fraction of what it is now, you could control your mood, blood pressure, immune system, hormones, muscle development, body mass index, metabolism, aging, skeletal structure, genetic makeup, and a whole lot of other things.

1st intersection: 3 options, one he just did, + 1 lie, equals the right choice.
2nd intersection: He asks twice which is the way and gets two lies, leaving only the correct choice.
3rd intersection: 3 options, one he just did, plus one lie, then he fakes confusion but also gets two lies to confirm, leaving one option. Because Derren made fun of him at the beginning, he ensures a lie this time.

I dont know about the rest of the course, but I think he knew from the beginning where the crash mat would be. This may be a total shot in the dark, because I don't know jack about this stuff! But Derren's face often lights up when he knows his plan has worked (1:29, he gives a hint of that smile). & I bet most people would try to catch him out by keeping the mat close to where it originally was - also to make less noise as well as put it where Derren did NOT end.

The crash pad is located because of the resounding echo in the bunker. I assume
you could hear the sound becoming dull against the crash pad as opposed to the hard ground.

When he asks 'is left really safe? is it relly safe?' it makes the person confused as to whether to say 'yes yes' or 'no no'. And this, if the person is lying leads to hesitation, which Derren picked up on.

The thing you have to remember is that Derren is not saying it's "magic" but more psychology and something ANYONE can learn. It's easy enough to say "that's bs" or "hoax" but really, there is a ton of logic in what he does.

I think hes amazing, i believe its a mixture between noticing whether the guy was lying, and also listenning to him put down the obstacles before the course began. If you notice he is standing there all the time. He can hear where certain things are being placed.

This isnt about seeing in the dark, anyone can walk along a beam using their feet as feelers along the beam with thier eyes shut, this is simply about knowing which way to move. What we do know is that there are night vision cameras watching his every move, he's a user of technology and we do know he has an ear piece to talk to the man directing him, what we dont know is if someone is telling him what to do in the other ear..

if that would`ve been the first video i saw of him, than i would agree... but after all what i`ve seen of derren brown doing, i`m sure that there is no "trick" about this whole thing, xept for the reading the unconscious auditory signals that guy sends... when you would read about that stuff and not just talk bullshit, than you could even learn the basics of reading if people are lying or not... ok, well maybe you couldn`t because it might be very likely that you just miss the necessary empathy

well yeah, you got a point... and furthermore, we can never be sure... about anything what he does we can`t be sure at all... everything COULD just be a giant hoax, but i think that`s very very unlikely... and when i count all things together i know about him and the possibilities of different "mind reading" techniques, i think it`s more likely that he also here just really does what he says he does, without help. (and in the end, i agree, i also like his other videos more)

The blindfold had an opaque patch and a transparent patch. When he tested it out on the military guy, it was the opaque patch, and he used the transparent patch when they were setting the booby-traps, and memorized it before they doused the lights.

Saying "it's genuine ok?" is worthless as an argument, and it does indeed seem like you are trying to convince Xedome this is genuine.
If he is unable to perform the feats he claim to do, faking them would make it seem like he actually can perform them, which is more impressive that not beeing able to perform them, and thus makes for a better show.
Better shows means more money in the long run.
