i was angry at obama for cutting nasa funding.... even though i think he is cool in a lot of ways... but i get it now - america is broke... i guess i'll just have to cheer as india and china colonise mars and the moons of jupiter, it would have been a better movie if america did it... indian singing and dancing gives me the shits.
one thing puzzels me in the 60s nasa had to wait for a window in the atmosspere to launch shuttles how did they no where it was because u cant see it its invisible
that was one of the best lift offs. well what do you expect its from the Shuttle Discovery, which is one of the best and nicest one of the three that are remaining. I just love the moment it lifts off. best part of it all
Floodlit in the hazy distance The star of this unearthly show Venting vapors, like the breath Of a sleeping white dragon... the earth beneath us starts to tremble a spreading of a low dark cloud a thunderous roar shakes the earth like the whole world exploding ... Like a pillar of cloud The smoke lingers high in the air In fascination With the eyes of the world We stare... Rush "countdown"
The three main engines are burning straight hydrogen and oxygen. So rain is there only by product. There is a few more chemicals in the fuel of the SRB however.
.............................................................. are you saying fly the space shuttle up high with a jet??? idk if you realize this but that son of a bitch weighs over 4million pounds... and obviously something else you dont know is it does not put out carbon emissions. it is a mix of hydrogen and oxygen. in other words H2O. actually about 10 mins after its up there it usually starts to rain about 3 miles away. this isnt gasoline lol. :)
Comparing the method of which we travel to the rate of which our space shuttles technology advances. I made the statement that the method itself was primitive in opposition to the technology if i offended anyone i do apologize. It was just an observation.
The Shuttle Program is scheduled to retire in 2010, however, we won't know for sure until our new president takes office this month. We who work in the SSP hope that it gets extended. There is a lot more we want to accomplish with the vehicle. At one time, there were two contingency flights being considered to finish building the ISS, and honor agreements made with our International Partners. This could extend the Program to 2012. We'll know for sure soon.
Which is exactly why the shuttle program is being disabled to make way for the new Orion shuttle. The only reason why NASA hasnt done many upgrades to the shuttle is because everything has worked fine and they didnt see why the should change anything.
Look at the fuel tank it's massive to think that space travel has been unchanged since its induction. Though the technology has evoled the method of which we travel is prmitive as opposed to the technological advanvements.
Untrue statement T3KNOLOG3. The SRBs (fuel tanks) that will be lifing the Orion CEV and the Heavy Launch vehicle are built on the same premise as the shuttle SRBs, only much much larger.
You misunderstood my statement I was simply implying an actual fact. When I stated. "Though the technology has evolved the method of which we travel is primitive as opposed to the technological advancements. I know we have made leaps and bounds as far as what goes into the space craft. As far as the method in which we go into space well that's a different story. I didn't mean to offend just stating a fact that's all.
NASA commentator Rob Navius does say, "a star-spangled start" to the mission because THE LAUNCH TOOK PLACE ON THE FREAKIN' FOURTH OF JULY!! Navius has done a great job with these things for many years. Cut the man a break... :]
wanna know why they will soon b obselete is there a new launch vichle being design or r u just saying its going to be outa date ? either way i agree on the amazing thing
A Elevator that goes up to a station in geosynchronous (orbits the earth at the same speed as the earth rotates) orbit. Basically, Imagine traveling in an elevator that brings you 20000 miles up into the sky.
To tell the truth they are developing a new space vehicle called orion to replace the shuttle as it is more cost effective than the shuttle... the shuttles last mission is scheduled for May 31, 2010.
I went to NASA and KSC learned all about space and did the training they do. they told us about ht and it made me cry. then we were in a recreanation of discovery and i saw it and was like wow. its just the front and its huge

idk if u ask me we could easily make it tons smaller and mostly just by flying it up with a jet to very high altitude then it turns on right
